For some reason the line type scale is way out to lunch on one of the lines in a block i use, so i was wondering if you can change that LTS without exploding the block, or if i can change the LTS for the layer that specific line is on without exploding the block

When defining a block it is possible to choose wether the block can be exploded or not. Is there a way of undoing this. I can edit the block in full version with refedit but in LT there is no way of editing this block. I can see advantages of this setting but I imagine someone accidentilly unpicking this box and creating unexplodable blocks without noticing.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to explode a 3d block that I created from a manufacturer's horizontal mullion detail. Whenever I do that, it disappears. I tried setting it to layer 0, still disappears. I made sure all the layers were turned on and thawed. Whats weird is that I can explode the vertial mullion block and it doesn't disappear. I tried matching the vertical mullion properties to the horiz, still no luck.

At present I have all my blocks in a tool palette and just click and drop to add them to my schematic.
How can I tailor the text of a block without exploding it? Is this even possible?
I have multiple dynamic blocks that I would like to add descriptions to. If I have a block in a tool palette, I can add a description by right clicking and selecting "Properties." But I would like to add a description that shows up in the Design Center as well.
Is there a way to do this without redefining the block? Exploding makes me lose all of my dynamic properties, and I'd hate to have to recreate them.
I'm using LT 2008, by the way, so I don't have ref edit or any of that other cool stuff.
I have several featurelines that I wish to explode to be 3D Polylines (bad, I know, but it's a test for a way to get data across from our design group to our survey group).
Last week, in this drawing, I exploded a large selection of featurelines and they all became 3D polylines, preserving their elevation data. This week, I drew an additional set of featurelines in the same drawing. When I explode them once, they lose all elevation data, becoming lpolylines at z=0. Additionally, the Prospector shows me several errors: "breaklines not added to surface" or something similar. Which is an odd result for the explode command.
Why did this work once but not a second time?

Can you add Attributes to a exsiting block without ,exploding it ,and remaking it?
I have made a dynamic window block and forgot to add the attribute annotation I wanted.
Tried to edit the block and add it, but when I save it and reopen the block it does not show.the attribute.
I have a strange problem with one of our library blocks.
For panel schedules and light fixture schedules, we have DWG block files, and we insert them into our drawings and explode them for editing.
The light fixture schedule loses all of its font attributes when we do this. It looks fine when you insert the block, but once you explode the block all the font information is lost. Interestingly, if you insert the block and go into the block editor, the block editor doesn't show the fonts correctly even though the un-exploded block does show the fonts correctly.
An important detail in all of this is that the panel schedules are just drawings (lines, text, hatches, etc.). The light fixture schedule is a table.
I'll attach some pictures showing what I'm talking about and the DWG block file.
Here at the company I work for, we have different drawing templates for certain clients. The templates share quite a bit of information with only a few differences. I combined them into one dynamic block with different visibility states for each template. But when we get ready to use a particular template, the block will need to be exploded to use all the information available.
My question is what happens to the objects not on the current visibility state when exploded? It seems to just disappear. Does the exploding essentially delete all objects not visible?
We have a large AutoCAD file received from a survey company consisting of one large block that I want to explode and edit. When I attempt to explode it, a portion of it disappears.
This is the fifth version of the file that we have received. The previous versions did not have that portion at all, so we had to keep sending back for it.
What's been tried:
1. Turned on/unfroze all layers and zoom extents
- No change
2. Tried both Burst and Explode
- No change
3. Tried to copy/paste into a new drawing.
- "Copy to Clipboard Failed"
4. Inserted drawing as a block into a new drawing.
- The disappearing portion did not seem to be inserted along with the rest of the drawing
5. Attempted to edit the block.
- "This block contains proxy objects and cannot be edited in the Block Editor"

How can I explode a rectangle to 4 individual lines? i need illustrator equivalent to autocad explode function. I searched a lot on net, couldn't find it. I tried expand command too.
View 4 Replies View RelatedPulling apart a drawing that someone else did, each block contains a set of text that I need, along with the polylines for editing, however, when I explode these blocks to edit the polyllines - all of the text inside the blocks changes to generic terms like "AUX".
I assume that these blocks go to a lookup table of some sort to find their names, but it's not something I'm familiar with - is there a way to get the text to "hardcode" or something? Just force it to stay as it is before I explode the block?
I am often using text within AutoCAD 2012. Here is what I do, look at the attachments:
1. Create the text using the mtext tool
2. Explode the text using the txtexp tool
But, when I explode the text, lines appear inside the text like in the image. I then have to explode the whole thing and delete these lines manually. Any tool or add-on to get around this annoyance every time I insert text.
I have created a dynamic block with a stretch, flip and rotate. Everything works great in its file. When I insert it in another file, the grips move but the block does not change.

When the block is in a drawing and I click it, it takes me to block editor.
However if I go to it in block editor and test block it allows me to change the attributes.
Why does clicking the block go to block editor and not allow me to change its attributes as it does when I test block.
i have tons of column tags but wants to change the distance between column size and the circle and make the font smaller. I can do this individually but can't do one by one..... is there any way i can adjust all by one command or one magic touch?

I am currently trying (trying being the operative word!!!!), to create a block of a cill, which I can rotate to separate angles.
Problem I have is getting the internal lines to join each other. I have tried so many different ways to get them to meet, but seriously struggling. I can't seem to find anything referring to extending lines or trimming lines in a Dynamic Block.
I"m using AutoCAD Electrical 2013 but this is more of a general CAD question.
I'm working with floor plans from another company, the drawing contains xref for the floor plans and other blocks. I need to label some of our equipment. I'm simply using a DTEXT label inside a rectangle as a block with the text as an atribute.
I'd like to place the label on the floor plan and have it hide anything underneath. I do this with 3D blocks for other work, but I'm looking for a quick and dirty solution.
In the ANSI-large, the default title block in the ANSI drawing template, when i edit the title block i see green lines which might use for aligning text. they disappear when i finish editing.
They are on a layer that's: By Standard (title ANSI). The rest of the lines are black and are on the title ANSI layer. What's this By Standard prefix? What are they and how to make them?
I am really struggling to get this dynamic block working - It's a plan view on the flight of steps and I would like to space the risers equally between the bottom and top nosing. I was trying to use array but the value (tread going) stays the same... So I need something thath would work just like divide command.

I have a problem with a File in Autocad.
We have a dynamic block here at work that has a solid hatch in it. It is a simple block which only utilizes a dropdown menu.
This block is a circle with a solid hatch in it. However when I select the block via dropdown menu, the hatch is not solid, it is a bunch of lines originating from the center of the circle.
I have never had this problem before with this block and nothing has changed with the block.
It also works fine when I open up other drawings.
This tells me that there is a problem with the settings of this specific file but I cannot figure out what setting.
I believe the problem occurred because I brought my work home with me and I have different settings on my autocad (both ACAD 2011).
I am working on a dynamic block that I figured would be fairly simple. However, it is proving to be a huge annoyance. What I want for it to do is stretch the end of a polyline with a stretch action, while at the same time moving the grip of my block properties table. No matter what I do to it, the block properties grip won't move/stretch.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMost of my design work requires me to xRef an existing title block to my paperspace and vport my drawing into my titleblock in paperspace. However, when I attach my titleblock using xRef into my paperspace, the scaling went totally out. Mostly my block comes out way bigger than it is suppose to. The problem is that I have set my designs and block to function in milimeters, so basically it should scale down to the same scale right?
And also, it's quite troublesome to keep going back to my titleblock dwg to edit/save and reload it back in my design. Is there anyway to explode the xRef titleblock? Every time I tried they keep saying its an external reference. Is there any way to go around this so I can edit it without going back and forth?
I have a Mechanical drawing with numerous Xrefs. I need to make changes to the Plumbing layers which is in O-Xref layer. I have tried to bind all Xrefs but cannot bind all of them. The piping is in the O-Xref layer. I cannot explode nor can I Xref-Edit anything in this layer. This is one of a number of drawings but this is the first one that I cannot explode or edit the layer and I have never run into this problem before.
Is there a way that the file can be locked up to prevent editing?

Just copy it to your Support folder and load it ("AP"). Type "explodem" at the command line to run it. It first asks you to select the block; it then asks you if you want to explode? [No/Yes] Enter No. Yep, enter no. (I know; I tried Yes but it wouldn't work...might be just me though cuz I'm a bit dyslexic; either that or the programmer may be?)
I'm trying to export some AutoCAD files to SketchUp as DWGs... everything comes through fine, but the text (and certain other line-types) won't transfer over. I know that with AutoCAD 2008 using Express Tools, you could do this easily by exploding the text. How can I explode text using AutoCAD 2013, so that it will export as vectors in the DWG file?
View 6 Replies View Relatedwhen I am working on a large drawing and/or pasting as a block, all the grey lines (colour 8) turn to white. When I select a grey line, it flicks back to grey, but de-select, and it's white again.
If I toggle on hardware acceleration, the problem is fixed for a short while, and also if I turn it off, it is fixed for a short while, and also if I save, close and re-open it's good untill I paste a block....
I suspect it may be because of my setup and an un tested graphics card:
