I work at a company that has used autocad 2000i, since 2000. We use a software called “LiveText 2.0” (since 2000) to update a “date, time, user” text string in the format, whenever the drawing is saved. We now have autocad 2012 and it will not write to the “LiveText” text string when saved. I have followed the setup used for the 2000i systems to no avail.

In Map, under Data Connections, I'm using "Add WMS Connection"
I give the connection a name, enter the Server name, and leave Version on "Default version"
I leave username and password blank.
But I always get the error message: "Failed to connect."
Do ESRI and AutoCAD just not play well together?
I am using ACAD MEP 2012. While i was working on a drawing my AutoCAD session locked up and terminated the program, not thinking anything of it i just restarted ACAD and started working on the same drawing. I noticed the ribbon looks different and now all the command buttons are not showing up under the tabs they are ALL in dropdown windows now. I don't know what happened to the original ribbon setup but it is definitely not what it used to be. Attached below are pics of what i am referring to. The first picture is what it used to look like, the second and third pictures are what they look like now.

View 8 Replies View RelatedJust wanted to run this by everyone. I'm using Autocad 2012 and having problems with text dropping out when i create a PDF file from my DWG.
It just happens randomly. Most times we just re-PDF the dwg and it's fine. I'm wondering if the way I go about it, /plot, and using "Adobe PDF" to print my PDF is what everyone is using.
I am attempting to mirror an object, using an endpoint but 6.5 units to the right of it. However, i don't seem able to do it, as when i mirror the objects they just end up touching.
I know the 2012 version doesn't have dialog boxes for features such as hatching and the array commands, it is possible to set it up on this version so these options become available.
I have a drawing that only show 'Standard' as font in Style box. How do I see the rest of the fonts I have??
Also, how do I get linetypes like 'Fence' into the drawing?
Since a few days I have the following issues with some menu's.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have installed Autocad 2012 LT on Windows XP sp3. The program opened and worked fine after the install. The user was not sure they wanted this version so I did not activate the program right away. After the user decided they wanted to keep this version I activated the program with a license and now the program will not open. Crashes and does not give an error message.
I have tried to uninstall and re-install. I uninstalled netframework 3.5 sp1 and re-installed, still will not open.
I have Inventor 2012 running on WIn7, 64-bit system. As i want to use also MDT2009, i´ve downloaded it from the autodesk server and followed the instructions from the site. Now im not able to install MDT. When trying to install it, it says the installation can´t find inventor on the system. Its definitly present on the system and i don´t know how to go on.

I've tried to measure the area of a road layout (that includes curves) and it is giving me a completely unrealistic answer (310,000m2 instead of 41,000m2). If I de-curve the lines, the area is about right, but the lines MUST remain curved for me to get the most accurate measurment. why curves aren't being measured properly, and is there a setting I can use to make sure this doesn't happen again?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been having problems with Autocad 2012 (running on Windows 7/64bit) where it keeps getting hung up and I get the spinning wheel and the (not responding) message... I notice this happens most often when I am editing attributes of a block, editing text (by double click or through the properties window), or printing to PDF. I am unable to shut down autocad, Windows 7 will not let me end the process in the task manager, and I have to shut off the power on my laptop to force it to shut down. On the few occasions where I got the window to close, Autocad would not re-open, the start up screen would just get stuck at Initializing..

I have tested the printer and I am sure it works properly. It printed both a Windows test page and a color photo with no problems, which is leading me to believe that he has a setting within the program that should be changed.

A dwg obtained and developed from autocad 2009 was opened with autocad LT 2012 but could not display on the LAYOUT, although it does show on the MODEL.
I have tried to SAVE AS using the 2012 Autocad LT, but the drawing still wont display on the LAYOUT.
I have been trying to create DXF in AutoCAD 2012, Civil 3D 2012 and Lt 2012 and every time I try to open the DXF after creating it, it comes up with:

DXF rear error on line 21308
Invalid or incomplete DXF input - drawing discarded.
I've tried saving it various DXF formats: 2000, 2004, 2007 and 2010, and all show up with the same error.
I’m using AutoCAD MAP 3D 2012. I’m trying to import a .mdb file. The text that I’m working from says because I’m working on a 64 bit machine I will have to download from Microsoft a file called Microsoft Access Database Engine and install the proper drivers. I’ve downloaded the file and run it and rebooted my machine but I still can’t bring in the .mdb file.

I know you can do the liscene transfer (the windows pc is being put down) however I can't find anyway to get the LT 2012 Mac download. View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm having an issue with exporting an Inventor 2012 .idw to AutoCAD DWG.I am trying to export a multi-sheet drawing to AutoCAD 2007 using the Model Space - Full Scale option.
IT seems like no matter what I try, it will only export the geometry from the first sheet. It creates the other 2 .dwg files (Sheet 2 and 3) but they are empty. The drawing set is comprised of a large plan view on sheet 1 and then a bunch of section views, originally cut on sheet 1 and then moved to the other sheets.
I tried using the other options "Sheet Scale - Model Space" which left me with some odd scale factor on the section views (completely different from the scale on the drawing) so, I can't use that.And "Base View Scale - Model Space" or "Layout" give me the same result as the 1:1 scale option... all 3 files, but 2 and 3 are empty.I tried .dxf and other AutoCAD versions with no change.
I created a Multileader style in AutoCAD LT 2011 that worked pretty good. Basically a keynote callout with a tick on one end and a circle on the other end. After using AutoCAD LT 2012 it was noticed that there was a small dot in all the circles. It seems that if your Multileader type is set to "block", your source block is set to, whatever (triangle, circle, etc...), and most importantly, if your attachment is set to "Insertion Point", a very small dot is placed in the insertion point. It prints as well. When the same drawing is opened with AutoCAD LT 2011, the problem disappears.

View 6 Replies View RelatedJust loaded Inventor 2012 on a new computer. It seems to work OK, I can open and close files with no problem, but as soon as I try to shut Inventor down It lock up. The only way to shut it down in using task manager. After I try to shut it down the normal way Inventor continues to consume memory, (memory usage reported in the task manager continues to increase in size)!
Also once it is terminated in task manager and then restarted, the Inventor memory usage reported in the task manager continues to increase in size with no files loaded? Never leveling off. I have monitored it for several minutes after starting it and it continues to steadily increase in memory usage.
When I try to plot to pdf at the highest quality while in a layout, the file takes a long time to create and will be rather large but when I open the PDF there is nothing in it. It is all white! This typically happens when I try to create a plot that is larger than 11x17. I can send to the plotter and plot out a hard copy but no PDF.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am making a numbered list, including sub numbers (ex. 8.10). What I want to do is under the sub-number create sub-lines with lowercase letters, so it would like this:
a) test 123
b) test ABC
The problem I am having is that I can create the lettered list, close the mtext, and it will look fine . . . until I re-open the mtext and then the 8.11 changes to 8.1. and so on.
