View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm working with Autocad 2011. My objective is to create a dynamic block made up of a circle with a letter or number inside. Here's the tricky part. As I add additional letters or numbers the circle increases in diameter automatically to fully encircle whatever it is I type. The more letters or numbers the larger the circle and the fewer the letters or numbers the smaller the circle?
Or is there a lisp routine for this type of request?
We've been working with adding schedule tags in paper space for objects nested within an xref. The first time you do this however, the manual properties (it seems) do not update if the value of the manual property is changed back in the xref dwg. However, the Automatic properties do seem to update.
When we initially found this we past it off as a limitation. However, one of our users was experimenting and found that the first time you tag the xref resident object... the schedule tag reads the correct manual properties value. However, If you remove the property set from the schedule tag... then the manual property will update correctly showing the current value as it is back in the xref dwg even if it is changed.
This makes complete sense as the manual property set data can be edited from either the tag or the object or from the schedule... IF THE TAG and the object are resident in the same drawing file - in this case you DO NOT want to delete the property set from the tag... if you do this the property set is also removed from the object. However, when tagging objects nested within an xref, then you need to remove the property set from the tag... THEN the manual property will update correctly.
A client brought in a family "forest" as she calls it, and requests us to recreate it for her. She wants us to update it every two years so I'm hoping there's an easy way to do this.
I need to have each generation in its individual "textbox" so that I can edit leading. If I combine each generation under one main name (1st gen through 5th gen) then the original leading would be impossible to recreate.
Im trying to weld text into the inside of a circle. I can weld the base lines of my text to the circle's edge but i can get the base line to follow the curve of the circle.
This is a practice design for a laser engraver. Im new to Corel and laser engraving. The shop I work at has the equiptment and software for the process and I've recently been granted access to do some personal stuff.
I want to add a Tex inside a Circle and I want the text to take the "shape" of the circle. What I mean is that I want the text to bend and fit on the circle.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm using pse 11 right now. I've got a decent handle on text on shape tool. But I can't figure out how to get text inside a circle. (as opposed to around the outside) I've seen a couple tutorials that reference a little black arrow to move selections (I think within the Text tool menu) , and change orientation of text. I can't see this anywhere. I'm sure there is a simple solution, but I can't figure this one out.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to draw a circle and an ellipse so that the ellipse shares exactly two points of contact between the two paths (not centered).
This is seemingly impossible with the tools provided since, if you draw an ellipse normally, with the anchor points of the ellipse on the circlular path, there are four points of contact, which means the two paths overlap.
I've tried revolving a line segment that goes from the edge of the circle to the middle of the circle (not center) with similar results.
Drawing the ellipse first doesn't work either.
Astute Graphics has a plug-in, Subscribe that would almost work, except it only draws circles, not ellipses.
Am I overlooking someting extremely obvious, or am I correct to say that illustrator can't do this? I'm using CS5. Maybe this is something that is fixed in CS6 with a snap to path option?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI created a simple symbol from a circle with a cross inside (two rectangles). The symbol has two states labelled "normal" and "over" in which background colors change : on mousover and mouseout on the circle, sym.stop("over"); and sym.stop("normal"); respectively.
The problem : "over" when the cursor hovers over the circle, but back to "normal" when it hovers over the cross. The API suggests to use mouseenter and mouseleave to avoid child elements of the symbol interrupt the mouse event. I tried it, but the behavior is the same.
Is there any JavaScript solution (I'm a beginner, coming from AS3), or should I bypass with two flattened graphics "normal" and "over" ?

I was using 2007 and I had an add on command the would rotate an object using a base point and picking the two lines that make up the angle, and it would match the angle you wanted. I can not get that command to load in 2011.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to make a PDF file out of a Layout to accompany the DXF files to a client, but when I create the file, all the annotation is missing. I have created such PDF's in the past and they worked fine, so Im scratching my head as to why it doesnt work now
I have attached the files so that this can be seen.
I am using AutoCAD 2011 for a school project. It's pretty basic work--just making 2D architectural plots with imperial annotation units. I'm having two problems.
1) My school computers only have the "educational version" of the program installed, and it only has a continuous line. I need a dotted line for some parts of the project. Is there someplace where I could download the appropriate .lin file and add it to the program?
2) I have figured out how to change the program into the "Architectural" units mode, but when I make dimension lines the measurements say, for instance, 2.5 instead of 2'6". How can I change this from the former to the latter?
Is there a way to prevent losing annotation in drawings if you make a minor change in the model. For example if you change the size of a W beam you lose all the welds and text associated.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the 2013 civil 3D version. I am doing a site plan for school, and would like to print it out so that everything shows up clearly.
I would like to print it on a 24x36 sheet, so I have set up my page to that size. When I maximize my viewport to the page borders so that the viewport is at its largest and scale the viewport so that the entire site plan fits in the viewport, everything shows up so small in the print preview screen. The annotations show up as black bars and I can only read them if I zoom in. I have limited access to printing so I want to make sure I get it right! Will I be able to read the annotations and hatching once it has printed? Even though I can't read them in the print preview or layout without zooming in?
I am using annotation scaling, so maybe my text height is wrong? Maybe I need a larger sheet than 24x36? My viewport and annotation scales are set to 1"=20' and box drawn around my site would be about 100' x 300'.
Is there a way to change the annotations so that they become millimeters and not meters?
I dont really want to change my entire drawing to millimeters because i have other drawings in my model space which suit meters. It's just this one section I have drawn is so detailed and zoomed in, it really should be in millimeters.
If there isn't i'll just change the whole drawing, but thought I should ask on here first in case I was missing something obvious
I am having trouble exporting to a PDF to use in an InDesign document. If exports fine, but it looks AWFUL and doesn't show my annotations or notes clearly at all. it's all blurred.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to paste in things like "N.G.", "Top of Bank", "Edge of Water" all at certain points to annotate the topography. I've tried the following:
text N.G 800,90
text Top of Bank 820,90
But I keep getting the prompt for annotation angle and it gets stuck there so I tried:
text N.G 800,90 90
text Top of Bank 820,90 90
But the same thing occurs. I need the text to be vertical. I've done some searching here, but haven't come up with much. I don't want to resort to creating blocks and importing the attributes as I'm sure it's much easier than that.
First, when I have a drawing to scale in millimeters and want to put its attributes, the amnotations come out extremely small. It's caused me so many headaches. the units have been set to millimeters, limits from 0,0 to 200-150 ish. Drawing a small drawing within those limits tried very, very small annotations that you can't see unless you zoom 200 times in. I don't have that problem when drawing in inches though. Annotations come out great in inches.
The second problem is that, after I complete a drawing in millimeters and I want to copy and paste it onto my template (also drawn in millimeters to fit a 12-9 paper) the drawing comes out HUGE. At least 100 times bigger than the 1:1 scale should be. When I draw and plot in inches, the 1:1 copy onto a template comes out perfect, but for some reason it always does that in millimeters. I tried placing a block over the template with the "model" to scale and that looks closest to the proper 1:1 scale. I double checked on both the drawing and the template that their 1:1, they seemed fine so I printed. When I measured with a ruler it was still off by a bit.
What I can do to make annotating and plotting in millimeters as easy as with inches?
