On a semi-related note.. Does viewbase based sheet layouts make Autocad more unstable?

AutoCAD 2013 :: Dimensioning Views Generated With Viewbase Command?
May 9, 2012Is there a way to get proper dimensioning when generating views with the"Viewbase" command. I get erroneous results when using the dimordinate and dinbaseline commands with these views.

Jun 4, 2013I opened a project that i had not been into for a month and for some reason the surface and labels will not rebuild automatically anymore. Surface is set to rebuild automatic and i've gone in and changed the regenauto from on to off to on again, also rebooted the computer with no luck. I have a combination of feature lines and points. If I edit the elevations along the feature line the contours do not rebuild and the label does not change either. If I hover over the elevation node in the feature line it will show the new elevation but the elevation label for that point does not reflect the change, neither do the contours. If it is a point and I change it with the panorama window, the elevation tag will change but the contours do not rebuild until I tell it to rebuild. Any slope labels going to that point do not update with it though.

Oct 1, 2013My company has an access database that has all of our service data on it. I am currently considering rebuilding the database because it is a database with one table and a million fields. I want to split the database up into separate tables with relationships. All of these tables would be linked based on the same key field Service_ID.
Now here is the hard part. The data would be in a one to many relationship with one record for service info and multiple records per service for pipe info. The data is currently linked to objects in AutoCAD Map 3d 2014 based on the Service_ID key field and a "service" link template.
If i rebuild this database, am I going to lose all of my links? or will i retain the links? Also, is there a way to automatically generate links based on the service_ID field? For instance there are 3 records of pipe information for 1 service. Previously all of these records would be in the same table, but now the tables are split. Since they have the same Service_ID as the Service information, will the links show up?
AutoCAD Inventor :: Subassembly Constraints Constantly Need Rebuilding
Jun 5, 2012I'm working in a large top level assembly and the following is happening
1. Assembly is happy with no broken constraints
2. Edit a constraint (in this case, to rotate a part based on an angular constraint with another part)
3. Error message pops up telling me dozens of constraints in subassemblies are broken
4. Click Accept, assembly does not visually update
5. Click "Rebuild All" button under manage tab
6. 3 minutes later the model is updated, everything is happy, model looks how it should.
This type of problem has been happening lots to different assemblies with difference constraint scenarios.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Removing / Rebuilding Revolved Fillet From Model
Aug 10, 2012I have a model that has been made up from a revolved sketch and then had loads of bits done to it etc.. Basically it is a tapered ring with a fillet on the top edge, I need a top face dxf export for profiling and to do this I need to remove the radius on the edge, but because it is a revolved sketch and it is not filleted it is not so easy to do with other references involved.
Is there a way I can temporally rebuild the edge to remove the fillet, I tried in fusion but it won't allow a Zero fillet edge?
I can't upload the sketch to show you unfortunately.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Viewbase Is Not Working
Jan 26, 2013I recently installed AutoCAD 2013 and was excited to try viewbase to create 2D drawings from complex 3D geometry. The problem is that despite selecting "from model space" the program launches the dialog box looking for an Inventor file, and there doesn't seem to be a way to simply work from the file's model space? I even made a new file from scratch with a simple 3D shape and ran into the same problem.

Apr 17, 2013I recently started using the _VIEWBASE command for creating drawing layouts. It's the first time in 15 years that Autodesk has *seriously* addressed creating drawing layouts from solid models, which is pretty cool so far.
Anyway.. what about generating profiles for production? For example I have an assembly of 100 items. I need to have most of them laser cut and need to send that dxf profile to the laser table. I tried _boundary, _copyface but that does not work with a 'drawing view' object. It also can not be exploded. The only thing that seems possible is tracing the object with a polyline (but that sucks).
I'm trying to avoid using viewports because that means every item needs it's own layer. I'm also trying to avoid littering model space with SOLPROF or FLATSHOT profiles.

AutoCad 3D :: Showing 2D Centrelines Viewbase View Of Model?
Feb 27, 2013vbasepaper.JPGmodel.JPGIs it possible to display centrelines created in model space in a view created using viewbase? The snips I have attached show my problem. The black background image is from model space showing a node at a tubular instersection. The dark blue centrelines are always drawn first to set out the framework. When I create the manufacturing drawing in paper space it is sometimes useful to show the centrelines. However when I create a view using VIEWBASE only the 3d solids are considered and displayed. I do not want to have to draw the centrelines in every view and detail view as this will take an age and will have to be manually corrected in every view each time there is change.

Dec 3, 2012To my frustration the VIEWBASE command and other AutoCAD 2013 cool new tools for creating views aren't included in Civil 3D 2013. When you enter command you get error "AcModelDoc.arx is missing"
So I've installed AutoCAD 2013 trial and took
- "ModelDoc.cuix" & "ModelDoc.mnr" from "C:UsersXXXAppDataRoamingAutodeskAutoCAD 2013 - EnglishenuSupport"
- AcModelDoc.arx from "C:Program FilesAutodeskAutoCAD 2013 - English"
Then I put the files to similar directories of my Civil 3D 2013 installation. The Layout menu got updated itself and now I can see all new buttons and commands on the Ribbon. However none of new commands work! No error appeares in command line but message "command not found".
Is there any way I can get it working? Or I should ask Autodesk to gift me a free copy of AutoCAD 2013 now?
P.S. I know they've even poinet that out in readme file [URL]. But who reads it before it's too late?..

Aug 29, 2013i have views lets say 3 views on a sheet but in the list of views theres mores that appears maybe i inserted the extra views that are showing but i deleted them to put them on another sheet
the problem is they show up in the list of both sheet and i can't delete them from the list of the sheet that they were before
AutoCAD 2013 :: Pixelated Objects Within Viewports Created With Viewbase
Nov 8, 2012The new VIEWBASE tool(s) are pretty cool but I have noticed that the solid objects in the viewports that are created by VIEWBASE tool/command display and plot pixelated. I have changed many normal settings like VIEWRES, WHIPARC, ISOLINES... without any improvement. I did notice that there is a property in the property palette called "Shade Resolution" that I am wondering if it might control this setting. The only thing is that I can't change its value from the properties palette.
I did compare the difference between a normal viewport and one that is created by the VIEWBASE command and the normal viewports display the objects smoothly (see the last picture below)
1) How to fix the pixelation issue?
2) Does this property control the pixelation issue?
3) How do you change this prop

Oct 23, 2013when I try to use the VIEWBASE command to create views from my 3D solids, I always get the message "inventor server failed to load" and the command stops. I am using AutoCAD 2014 with SP1 installed on windows 8 .
In a similar message in the 2010/2011/2012 discussion group: URL....
it is suggested to reinstall the software, but this is not working for me.I have already tried to 'repair', 'reinstall' and completely remove all the software and then reinstalling it, but nothing seems to fix this problem.
Are there any other programs I need to have installed to get this command to work?

Aug 20, 2013The external hard drive I was storing four years worth of photos on crashed the other day, and I learned the hard way that they weren't on the backup drive like I thought they were. Luckily I was able to recover at least most of them using FileSalvage. Unfurtunately, my ~15,000 images are now in three folders based on file type (JPG, TIF, DNG/NEF), don't have their original file names, and aren't in any particular order.
Is there any way short of manually sifting through the files for me to rebuild the year/month/day chronological folder structure I was storing them in? I'm running Lightroom 4.0 on a OS X 10.8.4.

Jan 12, 2013We would like to make the transparency of glass-materials visible in views and section-views by using the "realistic style". During a 3d-view our glass-material looks like transparent. Isn't it possible for REVIT to display the transparency of materials in views ?
The workaround to hide "glass" by using "overriding visibility" is not possible for us because some of our families and project families are using glass-materials inside (Showcases f.e.).

Revit :: Move Cursor Across Various Views Doubles Views
Nov 19, 2012Since the end of Aug. 2012 I've been making families for a manufacturer. I left Friday evening with good families. This morning I am finding all the families I checked with a problem.
When I move the cursor across the various views it doubles the views. Rolling the mouse wheel one click either way to zoom in or out cleans the view but on the next time the cursor goes across the view it doubles it again. Now there are 4 views overlapping each other. The next time it is possibly 8, and so on. It is difficult to count them because they are overlapping but it looks like they are doubling each time.
The software is Revit Architecture 2011 and the computer is a Dell Precision T3500.Are the families corrupted or is it the computer? Is there a toggle I hit that I shouldn't have?

Jan 19, 2012How could I get the idw views to name themselves? Instead of ” view 1”, “view2” why not have it name itself the file name, the same goes for a parts-list added to idw sheets? When slow clicking them to rename they already have the file name referencing the view or parts list. I have multiple views and multiple parts list on many sheets. Re-naming them is starting to get old!
I took a quick look at “ILOGIC” because that’s my “ILOGIC” speed and nothing jumped out at me.

Nov 21, 2011I am really struggling with this and I am not sure why. I simpy want to place a camera or create a view of a 3d drawing and plot a 2d elevation. I want to be able to clip the view to only show that object.
Example: 3d duct drawing, duct risers, I want to pick on riser and arnage it on a viewport. I can get a camera placed but each time it defaults to a perspective view and when I change it to non-perspective the camera disapears.
So I setup a view but no matter what i do I cannot get the clipping to work correctly.

I don't want to use sectionplan or a live section the duct program I am using doesn't create actual cad style solids so that won't work.
I really can't beleive I cannot just select two points to determine the view direction and the apply it to the viewport. I have to be missing something.
