anytime i create a viewbase i need to define the scale , visibility, hidden lines , orientation etc...
is there a way to save a style ? most of my details in 3d repeat the same settings i use autocad 2014
Running AutoCAD 2009 on Win 7, how do I get a drop down box for text style control, similar to my dim style control etc, onto my toolbar at the top? I've tried clicking on customize and dragging it but it won't move. Other users of Acad 2009 in our office have it but I can't see how to add it to the toolbar, only the icon?

Say I draw some lines on layer "0" and use the "block" command to make a new block. Next, I insert that block I just made onto some layer "X".
I am using .stb.
How can I control the plot style of the block?
Also, if the block is used as a civil 3d object, say a pipes structure, where does the plot style in structure properties fit into the hierarchy?
I have tried changing all the following variables to no affect: layer "0" plot style, layer "X' plot style, object properties plot style, stucture style plot style

So i've got a profile of a waterline. To show my valves, bends, tees, etc. I made a style for each and used null structures set to no plot for my plan view and made blocks for each appurtenance to be projected for the profile view.
This job is going to bid with two separate contracts and there is one sheet of overlap. I need to show some pipes and appurtenances proposed on one sheet and existing on another.
The one problem i'm having is controlling the plot style of the blocks in profile view, I've tried changing the structure style, making a new layer putting the block on that and changing the layer plot style, everything I can think of. I need it to be controlled via a vp plotstyle setting because I have another sheet where it needs to be displayed differently.

I am having an issue with saving the merge control variable to "Lines Merge" under the Sheet Set Publish Options. I have full rights to the sheet set file, and can change the variable to make a plot, but it gets reset everytime I close program and reopen.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently installed AutoCAD 2013 and was excited to try viewbase to create 2D drawings from complex 3D geometry. The problem is that despite selecting "from model space" the program launches the dialog box looking for an Inventor file, and there doesn't seem to be a way to simply work from the file's model space? I even made a new file from scratch with a simple 3D shape and ran into the same problem.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently started using the _VIEWBASE command for creating drawing layouts. It's the first time in 15 years that Autodesk has *seriously* addressed creating drawing layouts from solid models, which is pretty cool so far.
Anyway.. what about generating profiles for production? For example I have an assembly of 100 items. I need to have most of them laser cut and need to send that dxf profile to the laser table. I tried _boundary, _copyface but that does not work with a 'drawing view' object. It also can not be exploded. The only thing that seems possible is tracing the object with a polyline (but that sucks).
I'm trying to avoid using viewports because that means every item needs it's own layer. I'm also trying to avoid littering model space with SOLPROF or FLATSHOT profiles.
Is there any way to get the VIEWBASE command to respect the layer settings when creating section views?
It keep clarity, our plot styles are already setup, and IMO, more logical.

The black background image is from model space showing a node at a tubular instersection. The dark blue centrelines are always drawn first to set out the framework. When I create the manufacturing drawing in paper space it is sometimes useful to show the centrelines. However when I create a view using VIEWBASE only the 3d solids are considered and displayed. I do not want to have to draw the centrelines in every view and detail view as this will take an age and will have to be manually corrected in every view each time there is change.
View 7 Replies View RelatedTo my frustration the VIEWBASE command and other AutoCAD 2013 cool new tools for creating views aren't included in Civil 3D 2013. When you enter command you get error "AcModelDoc.arx is missing"
So I've installed AutoCAD 2013 trial and took
- "ModelDoc.cuix" & "ModelDoc.mnr" from "C:UsersXXXAppDataRoamingAutodeskAutoCAD 2013 - EnglishenuSupport"
- AcModelDoc.arx from "C:Program FilesAutodeskAutoCAD 2013 - English"
Then I put the files to similar directories of my Civil 3D 2013 installation. The Layout menu got updated itself and now I can see all new buttons and commands on the Ribbon. However none of new commands work! No error appeares in command line but message "command not found".
Is there any way I can get it working? Or I should ask Autodesk to gift me a free copy of AutoCAD 2013 now?
P.S. I know they've even poinet that out in readme file [URL]. But who reads it before it's too late?..
What's the easiest way to save a dimension style and open it up in a new drawing? I know that you can do it with the command "adcenter"

I've got 13 pages in my cad file, and rather than convert each to pdf by using print, im trying to use publish.
When I attempt to publish, my plot style doesn't appear, but the option to import does.
I am unable to save any changes to my style & standards for Inventor lt suite 2014.
Is this meant to be as indicated by the wikihelp (Save styles to the library in the Style Library Manager), or have i got something installed wrong.
Is there a way to get proper dimensioning when generating views with the"Viewbase" command. I get erroneous results when using the dimordinate and dinbaseline commands with these views.
View 6 Replies View RelatedThe new VIEWBASE tool(s) are pretty cool but I have noticed that the solid objects in the viewports that are created by VIEWBASE tool/command display and plot pixelated. I have changed many normal settings like VIEWRES, WHIPARC, ISOLINES... without any improvement. I did notice that there is a property in the property palette called "Shade Resolution" that I am wondering if it might control this setting. The only thing is that I can't change its value from the properties palette.
I did compare the difference between a normal viewport and one that is created by the VIEWBASE command and the normal viewports display the objects smoothly (see the last picture below)

when I try to use the VIEWBASE command to create views from my 3D solids, I always get the message "inventor server failed to load" and the command stops. I am using AutoCAD 2014 with SP1 installed on windows 8 .

it is suggested to reinstall the software, but this is not working for me.I have already tried to 'repair', 'reinstall' and completely remove all the software and then reinstalling it, but nothing seems to fix this problem.

View 4 Replies View RelatedUsing AutoCAD 2013 and TOL command to generate feature control frames. We set our lineweights based on layer assignments.
Problem is that when printing, AutoCAD seems to randomly assign a lineweight to the feature control frames. It can vary from what it's supposed to be (such as lineweight set for the dimension layer) or thicker than even what the object lines are set at. Seems to pick a random linewieght at time of printing for these elements (just the boxes, not the symbols/text itself).
Is there a setting we should be defining somewhere to force it to follow the lineweight of the layer that it has been assigned to? Known bug?
I created a layer style to put dew drops on an image. I don't really want to go through the same process over and over. I can not find a save option for this and there is nothing in the documentation.

On one PC, I can see my Libraries from the "save as" and "open" dialogue boxes and on the other I have can't have have to dig down to find the folders I want to save to. I don't have any plug-ins installed, and I have not edited the registry.
