I'm trying to offset an object by 3 meters from one end of a long arc to another. How do I offset a point (vertex) or object at a fixed distance along a pre-determined curved line??
View 9 RepliesI'm trying to use the surface offset command to create offsets of simple ruled surfaces. No offsets results and the command area reports that the ruled surface is invalid. However if I build the same surface using 4 lines (edge surf) then it will offset the resulting surface.
View 0 Replies View RelatedI am trying to copy objects from an xref, and when I select the objects from the xref, they appear to the side of where they are actually located. So, effectively, if I want to place the objects in exactly the same spot where they are in the xref, I have to try and eyeball it, or take the additional step of moving them into place, which is becoming very time consuming.
View 8 Replies View Relatedi need to create a solid by extruding/offseting a spline surface (attached picture). The problem is, a solid created by simply extruding this surface "outside" would cross itself, so autocad does not allow me to do it (neither extruding, surface offsetting is working) I tried to make a cube then using this surface as a splitting spline - however a solid created this way is flat on z-axis. How can I do this ? Everything is fine with the spline as well as a surface - it's closed one. Obviously the problem is in the fact in the self intersection of the extruded solid. So maybe using it to split a solid is a better approach?
View 9 Replies View RelatedAfter offsetting a profile line vertically, lets say minus 5 feet, for design purposes, is there a way to take that new polyline that is created and making it a polyline so it can be smoothed. Almost everytime, the enginner has asked me to smooth out that polyline that I have offset vertically, because it is now going to be used as a pipe in the final design. I have been drawing a polyline over the top of the profile line, so it looks smooth........
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to make this part on Sheet Metal, and I have to offset this flange at 28 degree that meet 0.37". The thickness is 0.12". Currently, the only method that I know how to meet that 0.37" is by playing around (guess and check) with the number in picture 3. Any other methods to create this offset part.

I'm literaly just starting to use CAD so this might be a silly question, but how would I offset a line more than one distance in a command? Is there like a symbol you put between each distance like 2000;2250;2650 or something along those lines (no pun intended).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create a dynamic block for a schedule to satisfy an engineer's request. The intent is to insert this block with the text for the schedule, then array the rows for as many fixture type as we may need. Then copy the text down and edit as needed.
I've got the array set up, but when I drag the array, the first array increment shows up, but the row of the schedule does not. It is not until partway through the second increment that the row shows up, but it appears with a gap between the first and second row, so something is wrong with the offset or origin... I'm not sure.
On another post, distance needing to be set in the Array Action Properties and not just under the parameter. I don't understand where this is.
I have an autocad file with a simple rectangle in it.
The goal is to offset this rectangle 1" to the inside of the original rectangle, then delete the original rectange.
How could I go about this in autolisp??
I know I could use basic commands to bring up the offset functions, but i'm not too sure how i could write autolisp to offset in the correct direction, and the correctly delete the larger rectangle without deleting the smaller one as well.
Maybe put them on different layers? How I could achieve this?
Is there a way in CorelDRAW, that the resize option, the one we do by pulling all the arrows from the corners, offsets the objects equally. If I copy paste and resize the rectangle it does unequal offsets. I know the contour command, but is there any way to customize the resize command?

I have a rather simple 3rd party custom object... I tried to get its bounding box but the coordinates that come back don't seem to relate at all to the object.
What I'd like are the coordinates of two nodes the object contains...

When I select an object and pan to make another selection the first object "deselects". The object(s) will stay selected until I pan and as soon as I start to pan the grips go away and the object(s) is deselected.

We upgraded to AutoCAD Mechanical 2012 (from AutoCAD Mechanical 2009).
I used to go: TOOLS > DRAWING ORDER, in order to bring an object to the back or the front of another object.
Now that we are using AM 2012, I can't find where this command is located.
I get the following exception message while debugging, after pasting VBA code into my vb.net project:
"Object reference not set to an instance of an object"
Without going to specifics yet, I commented-out ObjectCollections and the error happened further down in the class.
Is there a different way ObjectCollections are handled in a vb.net class, versus a VBA module?

The problem is the contours have the elevation listed under object information, not geometry (the contours were brought in from a GIS file, which I do not have access to, or I would bring them in again with the elevations properly assigned, this is not an option). How can I quickly change the geometry elevation property to match the miscellaneous property?

I'm trying to cut through the angled object on the underside of the curved object to cut it into 2 sections and remove the upper, so that I'm left with the upper curved deck covering the front object.
I've tried Slice and Separate and Subtract but I can't get what I want.
I've just changed a VS compile options to use .NET Framework 3.5 (previously Framework 4).
My user controls that I've added as containers for the pallette don't seem to agree with it and I get a "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error on each of their resx files. And one on Resources.resx.

Resizing objects is a mess in CorelDRAW X6 when objects are outlined with Scale With Object enabled to retain proportions after resizing.
None of the tools dealing with outlines (e.g. Contour or even Outline itself) continue to work properly after resizing the object.
I strongly suggest to recalculate outline property values after resizing if Scale With Object is checked. Don't just do it hidden somewhere internally in the object model by applying a temporary scaling factor. Instead actually recalculate the actual property values if Scale With Object is checked.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to exclude single attributes from being defined in a object style? As example: i want to define an outline that does not change width of the objects, but everything else.
There is a small tick box right of every attribute with help text "None this object attribute is not defined by a custom style" but i can not mark it. My feeling is, that i need to switch on this tick box to get the result i need, but i can not. When i click on it, it just gives me a greyed out "Revert". When i try to make child styles, there is a way to break the connection to parent style with these tick boxes, but no luck.
Is it a bug? I tried it with X6, X6.1 and X6.2

I have simple a 3D bottle shape created from about 16 points and I am trying to map a gif image on to it usning CS5. No matter what I have done (work from a new document, etc.) I always get the error message. I also receive this error when I attempt to map a jpg image on to the same shape. I have attempted this on three different Windows 7 machines running CS5 with the same result. When I try it with CS6 the program closes with a catastrophic error and no message. I do not receive this error using the default symbols. The gif and jpg images are imported and imbedded into the document and then moved to the symbols library.
