I have a small logo jpg that was a Windows OLE object inserted into each drawing I do. This image was saved within the file.
It now appears that with 2012 LT I have to insert an image as a reference. Is there any way around using a linked file as I want to open these drawings without worrying about whether or not I have the logo file stored in the correct place.
Inserting an image (sid, tiff, geotiff, etc) using the image insert command in Map 2012, Or Raster2012 causes program to crash. Have reported to Autodeak, no response....

When I attach an external reference, I want the insertion point to be 0,0,0 so that my drawings overlap each other. However, when I attach, the drawing is 596'-10", 345'-11 1/4" every time! This is something that I have tried to understand and find a work around since I started working with Inventor. Is there a way to insert a BOM into a part drawing that does not reference itself? When we create parts they are cut or machined from a designated material (size, shape, etc) which has it's own part number, one that we have to manually enter into the drawing BOM with it's description. Is there a way to attach this raw or base material to a part file as a subordinate part that can be seen in parent assembly's BOM's?
If there is a way to attach a raw material to a ipt's BOM that can be seen at all levels above it we could explore the option of streamlining our BOM creation process.

When I start Reference Manager, the program window opens but at the same moment a message window opens saying 'AutoCAD component has stopped working Windows is checking for a solution to the problem...'. A solution is not found, so I can only select 'Close program', and the program closes. I have run Reference Manager successfully a few weeks ago, and after that I haven't installed or removed Autodesk programs. I have Windows 7 64-bit, AutoCAD Mechanical 2012 SP2 and Factory Design Suite Ultimate 2013. I cannot use Reference Manager 2013 (which works) because it saves the files in 2013 format.

How do I insert multiple pages from AC2012 LT into PDF?
I'd like to make several drawings * see attachment* , add in the text.....add in some jpgs.....and have ONE document with multiple pages for my customers.
So far I can only seem to make one page at a time. Operator error I am sure.
I want to insert a text into a block that contains a field. The field I want to look up the value of an attribute that is also contained in the block. Now when I have this complete and then change the block attribute the fields do not update to the new value of the attribute. An example file is attached.
Now I am open to creating the block in a different way, so any way to make this concept work? I want everything to be contained in the block.
I already tried to work around my problem by making 2 separate attributes, where the 2nd attribute contains the field that looks up the value of the 1st attribute - this did not work. Another thing I tried was after the block was made, I edit the 2nd attribute by inserting the field and this worked fine - the down side is that the field is not the default of the attribute (so the block must already be present in the drawing model space and that instance must be copied to make more).

View 5 Replies View RelatedWe installed ACA 2012 a few weeks ago on computers running Windows Vista Business 64-bit. On one of our machines, the Detail Component Manager was working fine and now when we go to insert an object the insertion fails with a *cancel* appearing on the command line.
I have checked all of the file paths and folder permissions and everything is fine. Microsoft.Net Framework 4 Client & Extended is installed as along with Microsoft.Net Framework 3.5 SP1.
Drawing contains a block with "BlkName". I want to insert blockreferences of this existing block using .Net. All shows how to insert a new block and then use the BlockID returned by the insert function. In my case I only have the block name and there is no Block id. How to get it or how to create a block reference of an existing block?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to insert a block into a file in Acad 2014 and it comes in too large. If I insert the same block into the same file using Acad 2012 it comes in at the correct scale. Doesn't seem to matter if insunits is 0 or 1, or insunitsdefsource or insunitsdeftarget are also 0 or 1.
There must be some variable or variables I'm missing.
I'm still learning some of the basics in the AutoCAD Map features. Most of my work has been using a map that is connected to data. My raster image is connected to a Sid file which covers more area than I usually need to work with.
What is the best way to work with a small area at a time? I cannot seem to imageclip the connected raster image.
I have a series of drawings created in AutoCad Electricla 2012.
Each drawing has a raster image attached with a path from a different computer.
When I try to edit the drawing or re-reference the iamge path, the program crashes.
I've tried saving the drawings down to an earlier version 2007/2010.
I don't get the option in External reference to attach an image. Do I need to reinstall the program?

I'm working on a large infrastructure project with numerous of drawings. On quite a few layout drawings I need to have the same base set of references, however I need to change the layer settings (colors, lineweight etc.). This cannot be done in the base reference itself as it is used by others. As the layouts I work with includes other references as well, it is time consuming to filter and change layer settings on each base reference.
My concept is to have a master reference file to manage all layer settings and add/remove base references. When the master reference is referenced into the layout, all layer settings on the base references should stay as set in the master reference. In this way I can easily control all base references with one file and make sure all changes will be the same for all the layouts.

I am getting this error in my production drawings.
My setup is as follows:
- EG.dwg has my existing surface in it. I create a data reference to use it in other drawings.
- Level One.dwg has the EG surface data referenced in, and I use this to create alignments, profiles, and finish surface. All of these are turned in to data references.
- Storm Sanitary.dwg has my pipe designs. I data reference in the two surfaces, profiles, and alignments, and create pipe networks. I create references for these networks.
- Plan Profile.dwg is the production sheet I'm getting this error from. Every one of my civil objects is data referenced in to this drawing. Everything is inserted correctly, the pipes show correct FG surface elevations for their rims, etc.
BUT when I open this drawing, I get this error. I assume it's because my FG surface is not directly in the storm sanitary.dwg.
How do I get rid of this error, without combining drawings, or promoting the surface to one or more drawings? Isn't this exactly what data references is made for?
I have just recently got Inventor after using Max and Maya for a few months and do not understand how to create a background image (For example: an orthographic sketch on the x/y/z axis).
View 4 Replies View RelatedI need to print this drawing and I cannot get either print to PDF or print to printer working properly.
I was asked to create a local area map of the site and i used a google map image as the map. I have a paper space layout with labels and the company title block, with a raster image reference in the model space viewport, when I go to print this drawing using plot PDF the image comes out so grainy it's useless. When I plot to printer the paper space layout comes out great but only a slice of the raster image is printed.
No indication of problems can be seen in autocad's preview mode, and this doesn't happen outside of Autocad- I can open the image and have it print to PDF clearly, and I can open the image and print to printer without problems.

The image is supposed to fill the whole viewport, but most of the viewport is blank.
In AutoCad 2012 how do you make a hard coded externally referenced image into a relative reference? I tried simply removing the trailing path locations from the found at location in the external references manager although that wouldn't let me do it.

I enclose a screenshot of the project. 'Transform-tools-crop' only cuts in straight lines so I wonder which device I should use which can cut out an odd bespoke shape? You can see in the uploaded image from the project how the image currently cannot fill the frame without covering it.

However, when I'm trying to ad it directly to the sheet nest to a text box or part view, I don't know how to. If I create a new sketch, the Image icon in the sketch tab is grayed out.

I am trying to put in a small company logo so that we can have a drawing template. and whether I 'ATTACH' the image OR 'copy and paste' it does not seem to matter... both seem to bring in the image however save it and try opening on a different machine it simply displays the path o the file which is no longer valid of course... I cannot seem to find the correct import method to embed the image into the actual ACAD drawing.... I know with previous years of ACAD this was possible.

I am trying to write a LISP that does the following:
-Open drawing
-Saveas as NEW drawing based on certain criteria from DCL menu
-Deletes old drawing
-*THEN, if drawing contain attached IMAGE FILE (.tiff in my case)
-Rename image file and repath image file based on the new file name
I have gotten it to do all of this, except I can not figure out how to change the "reference name" of the attached image file (.tiff)
Is this read-only data? I can manualy change it under xref manager, so there should be a way to do it via code...

I need to make a Template.idw file with my company logo. and i did that by using insert image options. Then i saved it as template file and when i try to use that tempate file for new drawing, it shows a message that the reference file path is not the part of active project. So there is any option availabe like copy image and paste in template in place of insert image with link option?
