I've been using AutoCAD for about eight years now for architectural support in 2D. Lately drawing models for my smaller parts and rendering to get the message across. Problem is rendering. I can never remove the segmenting of arcs and circles even in the highest of setting. Does AutoCAD have fundamental problems with rendering solids? I've used 3rd party programs for rendering also with the same results.
Example of my setting: Viewres = 20000 Facetres= 10 Whiparc = 1 segments in a polyline curve = 30000
I having used 3D modeling software and Auto-cad in the past, I know how to design complex models using the features provided in the tool-bars but I have never even heard about programming using things like VBA until randomly running into it on the internet.what exactly is the use of programming on software like auto-cad and solid-edge? I mean I understand it will change the part to a text file but what is the use? can you design/edit a 3D model using just programming? Do mechanical design engineers need to know this? (even if not I still want to learn but just need to know if it is compulsory) What is the latest/best programming language used for programming in design software because I heard VBA is slowing down.
Is it possible to edit xrefs so that the xref layers correspond to your base model space layering? In other words, when you do an xref edit in your base drawing (not separate xref file) the layering will react to your edits using base plan layering? I use on screen layer tool bars and xref layers are on a separate layer and do not respond to these toolbar.
When I create a shape in Photoshop CS6, it brings up a nice panel of options - allowing me to change radius, stroke style, colour etc. However, once this shape has been placed in the Photoshop document, I am not able to edit it, without creating a new shape.
I cannot change any of the options. Sure, I can select it and change the size - but how would I change the shape stroke colour and style, as well as the radius of the curves? Is there an option or panel which I need to activate to get back to this menu for the current shape?
Here the shape options are visibleHowever, once I click off the shape - they dissapear and I can no longer get them back.
How would I get the shape options back for this shape, without creating a new layer and shape? As with the way it is now, I have to get things like the stroke colour and radius right the first time - and I like to experiment with my options.
i am working on correcting a drawing. when i select a object its layer shows up but then when i try and find the layer in the listing on the layer manager its not there. i can't even select the layer to keep it current.
I have been using Autocad 2000i LT for a number of years now but with limitations.(self tought of a fag packet) I am trying to get it to work for me rather than me work for it! Normally i use it for doing for producing panel wiring drawings, the way i normally do this is have a drawing on layer 1 then copy paste for additional layers, though this works ok, when i need to change eg date / site ref i have to change it on every page. I know by doing the basics on the model this then transfers to the other layouts. Plots set up for A4 landscape, on model / layer scale set to 1:1 I do drawing on model then when choose new layer the drawing scales down even though set 1:1 paper size same ect.
I have a simple solid model of a cube representing a cooling tower that still shows up when I do a realistic visual style even though the layer is off and/or frozen. I cannot hide this thing for some reason. What am I doing wrong?
i was working on a building layout that included soil & waste and hot & cold water routes, some detail was needed at 1:100 and some 1:50. i can set up viewports in ps to display the correct layers ok but the model space view got more and more untidy, all text and dimensions are in model space too. if i froze a model space layer to improve things obviously i lost that layer in ps. in the end i copied the xref and did the water services separate. is there a way of tidying up the model space without losing any layers in ps?
I'm supposed to model from scratch or find a pre-rigged model for some animation. I found a free rigged dog model for Maya [URL] .... that will fit my story perfectly, but I want to be able to change some of the geometry of the model, like modifying the ears and tail. But I can't seem to figure out how to do that! I'm able to select parts of the dog and move it around, but I don't know how to actually change the model itself. And if I do so, will it mess up the rigging? How do I go about editing this model?
I'm working with AutoCAD LT 2013. Just recently my layer State has not allowed me access. When I try to add a layer or edit a layer I can't get access and I get a pop-up note which reads:
"ALL LAYERS ALREADY INCLUDED IN THIS LAYER STATE. NO LAYERS CAN BE ADDED"
When I access layer states manager I can add a new layer-BUT it does not show up in Layers. Acts like the Layer State is Frozen to further modifications.
Any way to print/plot a layer in a VPORT, but prevent the same layer from printing in Model Space?
I am annotating my VPORTS with text, but I don't want any of this text to print/plot from Model space. All of the annotations will be on the same layer even though the annotations will appear on multiple VPORTS.
I would like to edit the faces of a model I imported into Maya, but I cannot find the face option when I right click. When I create a polygon however, it works just fine on it. Is there any way I can convert the model into a polygon?
I have a model with multiple floors. When I am in Level 2, with Level 1 as an Underlay I can still edit walls and other objects from Level 1. I know there is a way to lock the Underlay, I just can't make it work. Pinning the entire Level 1 is not an options, because this is not View dependent.
I have done a drawing on my auto cad 2011 on windows and when i open it up on my auto cad 2011 for mac it only shows one layer in model space all the layers are on and thawed. how can i get the rest of my drawing to show up?
- different layer state visible in each view port OR different saved view visible in each view port.
I cannot for the life of me figure it out. At the moment, every time i change the layer state (or saved view) in one view port, it changes in all 3 view ports so that they all show the exact same thing.
I was wondering the best way to draw a circle that passes through an endpoint of a line and then is tangent to another circle above it? I need to create a radius of 3.5 between the two points.
I need to find a way how to insert a point or a * on the center point of a hole and put it on a different layer. The reason for this is - I am a CAD tech for a welding shop and we cut parts out of steel and we use the dxf file format for our plasma table to cut parts. For example : if i have a 1 inch thick plate and want to put a 3/4'' hole in the plate the hole will be distorted because the hole is smaller than the material thickness. For these situation we can use the plasma table to burn a point or a dot on the center point of the hole. But to do this the point or dot must be on a different layer in the dxf.
I'm looking for a way to hide a layer in model space, but show it on ONLY my paperspace tab. Problem is, most of my work is in model space (different aspect of this drawing), and although I could pull the objects through to the paperspace tab, it just wouldn't be the way I feel it should be (3d objects should stay in model space imo). However, for the most part I don't need to see it in model space (except for checking 3d elevations of line segments), the finish product is a printed 2d top view.
Why would my Layer Masks in Adobe Photoshop CS5 extended Now be a square with a round circle in middle and not rectangular & black or white like they were originally ?
Shortly around the time I signed in to Autodesk 360 I began to have problems with how I interface with the program. I have AutoCAD LT 2013 and, having used the programs for 20 years, I use the AutoCAD LT Classic format for tools and menus. Also due to how I learned CAD in the early 90s and with many abbreviated commands, I use the keyboard extensively.
1. Certain actions using my mouse have stopped working (i.e. Right-click to edit hatch or blocks). Basically a "recent input" menu comes up each time, showing a short history of my commands. 2. When I click on an object, from the top bar I can no longer edit using the pull downs for Layer, Color, Line Type, etc. 3. I can only edit via the Properties menu or through typing in commands. However when I go to change a setting in the Property menu, the boxes with an ellipsis do not respond at all.
