I created a block w/ attributes for my border and saved it for future use on other drawings. But when I insert it, even if the units are the same the blocks I inserted scaled smaller than the actual border that i wanted it to be.
View 4 RepliesI've created my first dynamic blocks...but when i insert them into my dwg they are way off in space. i've tried selecting a base point in the library file. and i've tried using INSBASE 0,0,0 but no luck. my dyn block is made up of several individual blocks.

I am asking the user to select points and insert a block at each of the selected points. On user exit from the point selection I draw a polyline connecting the blocks.
However, I cannot get the already inserted blocks to display until I complete the insertion of all blocks. How do I go about getting them to display as soon as they are inserted? We are having a problem with blocks not appearing after xreferencing a drawing. We can place blocks as normal from the tool palette, but as soon as we xreference a 2D site plan and select blocks from the tool palette, they will not place. You can see them when placing, but once you click to place it, the block does not appear. I have copied out the site plan to a new dwg file, still does the same thing. Everything has been purged and ran an audit in the plan drawing and also the site plan drawing. The block does not show up in the block editor either. I am trying to avoid redrawing the site plan like we had done with two models that were doing the same thing. Remodeling a vessel and rebuilding a skid composite corrected the problem with two other drawings, but redrawing this site plan would take considerable time.

I could probably just test to see if the block is an Xref and avoid it... but how could I modify this to check if it is loaded and still empty?

I'm using a blocklibrary, where I stored all my blocks, most of them have attributes.
Now I'd like to simplify my workflow and want to update the blocks that I inserted in a drawing trough LISP.
Is there a way to update all inserted blocks and attributes of the whole drawing a once? The idea is, that the LISP checks the whole blocklibrary and updates the inserted blocks that to not match with the once from the library.
I was looking for a way of counting blocks inserted in my current drawing.

I'm looking for an easy way to generate a on-line riser diagram of blocks that have been inserted on a floor plan.Here's what I was thinking.
For every instance where the block SLC_DEVICE IS insert on the drawing, the routine would insert the block listed in the "TYPE" and place text equal to what is listed in the "ADDRESS". The TYPE is the actual block name.
Each one of these blocks have a tag of TYPE and ADDRESS. What is in the TYPE tag is the block name of what should be inserted and what is in the ADDRESS tag is the text that should be inserted under the block.
So for example; the routine would find the first instance and the tag TYPE which is "Smoke_Detector" and the tag ADDRESS which is 01:03:001. The routine would insert the block "Smoke_Detector" with the text "01:03:001" directly under it. It would insert the next instance the same way a specified distance from the last; so on so on so on until all instances of the BLOCK (SLC_DEVICE ) have been inserted.
The other part of this would be the Block "NAC&SPK_Circuit" but you would use the Tags "Type", "Candela" AND "NacCkt" to generate the one liner.
I have a dynamic block for my concrete blocks to speed up section drawing. The only dynamic property is I can reduce the height of the block down from 215mm to whatever size I need.
I am sectioning a wall that is at 70 degrees to the line of my section and to make it look right I have changed the x scale to 1.15 to give the right perspective. I now notice that the blocks have lost their dynamic properties, is this because I have fiddled with the scale? The other block wall is still OK .
When I type in the command "SC" for scaling the object, it'll asks me to specify base point then I can enter what scale I want it to be, such as 2 times or 0.5 for half sacle.
with the new 2013 version, sometimes it'll exit the command if I select the insertion point of the block or if the object is at the 0,0,0 location of the drawing. it'll also give a message of "the scaling factor is too small". But I haven't enter what scale I want to scale the object yet.
I'm currently trying to make an MV block which is a combination of a 2D symbol and its 3D representation. I want the 2D symbol to scale in line with the annotation scale so have set the annotative flag on my symbol block but I do not want the 3D representation to scale so this does not have the flag set. However, when I put the two blocks into my MV block and then alter the annotation scale, both the 2D and 3D blocks both scale.
Is there something more that I need to be doing to to make the two blocks act independently and comply with the annotative flag set on them? I have seen this behaviour work on MEP2013 but can't see anything different on its 'devices' and my simple blocks.
I'm scaling a block with increment each 0.5 mm on x and y. But when I get out of the block the size is no longer the same.
Ex: 2,5mm scale gives 2.667mm
3mm --> 3,115, etc.
Hw can I fix it?
Where can I find the command to globally scale blocks by selecting them and it scales each block around its insertion point.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am relatively new to dynamic block. I have generated a dynamic block that has four hole. I have HDistance and YDistance linear parameters set with mid point as their base location and action assigned so that they spread apart equally in horizontal and vertical direction and it works fine.
I am now adding another linear parameter (to change hole diameter) by trying to assign scale action, to increase or decrease hole diameter of all four holes simultaneously.
Why the drawing title in my dynamic block will not scale up or down. The rest of the objects scale properly but just this the drawing title text attribute will not follow suit.
I tried adding position point and link, etc....I run out options and don't know how to fix this.

New Responsive Scaling feature is great.
It's enabled me to add an Edge Animate file to my responsive Wordpress site using the Edge Suite Plugin.
Only problem for me is that although the 3.7MB file I’ve created scales perfectly on all devices it struggles to play on smartphones. (I assume it's too big and too power hungry to play smoothly on smartphones - even since I've added a pre-loader.)
So, in an ideal world, what I need is a separate low res Edge Animate file that only plays on smartphones.
Failing that, I’d be happy with a 'Down-level Stage' image which could replace the Edge Animate animation.

Unfortunately this clever solution only works when the new Responsive Scaling feature is NOT selected. As soon as it is selected, the animation no longer changes from one layout size to another when the browser window is reduced.
I don’t mind whether the fix is in Edge Animate, Wordpress or the Edge Suite Plugin - I just want a solution!
Using 2011 Civil3D at the moment. Im trying to insert a PDF as an xref and once its in the model space, it won't let me rotate or scale the image. When clicking on it, the nodes in each corner do not appaear.
View 0 Replies View RelatedI am using a WMS in Autodesk 3D Map 2012 to display an Arial image in the Model area. As I zoom in, the Arial image changes showing things in more detail.
Is there a way to crop the image inside a specific boundary? Keep in mind that the image is basically a WMS, not a raster image.
P.S. If i try to print the area of the WMS Arial image that I am interested in (in order to avoid cropping) the result is a grey area.
I need to insert an image into AutoCAD 2011, but it has to be embed (not a separate file).When I insert the image as an OLE, it's poor quality and pixelated. Is there any other way to insert an image file into the dwg?

Since this point, all my inserted graphics (company logo etc. in *.jpg format) have disappeard. Instead of the graphic, a little box appears with text stating the path where the original graphic was stored on the old server.
Since then I have tried to recreate a drawing block which works until I then insert that block into my drawings and they disappear again. I have given the new blocks different names, I have delieted all the old blocks from the drawing and purged, but every time I insert the block into the drawing, the graphics disappear. I have even tried inserted them into the drawing individually from the original jpeg stored on the new server which also doesn't work.
I have attached both files.Is there a way to rectify this or is there a different way to create a drawing title block
We are designing some web graphics for a friend. By "we" I mean me and a guy who lives on the opposite coast.
He did the initial page layout/design as a PhotoShop tif, at 300 dpi, in layers and about 5 inches wide. The idea, on his end, was that it would be a small file size and, therefore, faster to download on my end. With me so far?
Anyway, I'm suppose to convert it to 800 ppi wide, 72 dpi, jpg. Sounds easy enough. Or not Do all the scaling and now the graphics don't look right. None of the layer effects are right!
How do I scale his graphic, for my purposes and, once it's the size I need it, have everything look the way he created it?
Example: Text at that 5 inch wide, 300 dpi size with a one point stroke on it looked find when the graphic was 5 inch wide and 300 dpi, but at 800 ppi wide and 72 dpi, it's all wrong
Is there a preference or something I should be clicking somewhere and I'm just missing it?

I have a drawing on which I am going to need to show some photos of the assembly in its installed condition. When I attempt to insert an image, I get very low image quality that is giving me flashbacks to mid-90's video games. I do not get any sort of errors, missing images, file names displayed instead, etc. The image appears, but simply looks terrible, both on the screen and if printed or converted to PDF.
I have tried inserting the image as JPEG, PNG, and BMP, all with identical results. It is not unique to these images, and in fact occurs even if I try inserting images that Inventor created in the first place. Searching on these forums indicates that changing file associations for BMP files to Paint may be the answer, but most of these posts are rather old.
Since my IT department has me locked out of changing these associations for myself, I'd like some confirmation that this is still the likely cause before I go through the red tape of an IT service request.

I have adjusted the contrast, fade and monochrome settings to no avail (also assigned line weight is not set for transparency). Interestingly, the print preview window shows the attachments correctly, but the resulting pdf file when printed contains the attachments printed very faintly.

When I create a block reference the attribute collection count is zero. Is there something I need to do with the block definition to enable the attributes.
I am using AutoCAD 2010 64 bit. (I did think I had this working on my 32 bit computer but will check tomorrow). Running the AutoCAD function Battman - sync fixes the issue.
I would like to solve a drawing insertion when I set the scale as 1 but when I insert the dwg, it looks smaller and the PROPERTIES box tells me that the dwg is .0364 in size.

Occasionally when I go to print the file all I get is a blank rectangle where the image should be. Now the image does show in the print preview and it will print out normally sometimes.
