I have created simple dynamic block for plan section call outs. If I use comment INSET to put this block in my file ever thing looks ok but if I dropped from tool palette block is srewed up. See attached CAD file.

I have a DB with 2 visibility's. I want to put add to tool palette and have 2 tools....one to insert showing visibility number 1 and the other tool to insert showing visibility number 2.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've begun to create tool palettes to organize my blocks and often-used items. I have no trouble creating the tool palette, inserting regular blocks, export/import of the tool palette and groups, however my problem involves Dynamic Blocks and the fact that I keep each seperate dynamic block in a different file. I do this so that I can easily insert the block into a new drawing.
I'm able to drag the dwg file onto the palette (from explorer to autocad) just fine, that way the block's reference in the palette is the original file. Although when I take this method, I don't gain the lighting bolt to signify a dynamic block.
To get the lighting bolt I insert the block into an empty drawing, save it, then drag the block over to the palette. The problem with this is that the tool palette references the saved blank drawing, not the original block's file.
My endgame is to have a tool palette that contains my dynamic blocks and that will be eventually exported/imported to other computers everytime there is a major change. I also want to be able to change the original block's file and have that change be reflected in the tool palette.
Noticed that the Dynamic Blocks in the Annotation Tool Palette are missing? Let me rephrase that, in the Tool palette they show up, but the dwg's that they reference are missing. I have 4 users that are currently testing Civil 3D 2013 and all of them are missing the files.
I'm sure I could copy them from 2012, but still.
I've created my first dynamic blocks...but when i insert them into my dwg they are way off in space. i've tried selecting a base point in the library file. and i've tried using INSBASE 0,0,0 but no luck. my dyn block is made up of several individual blocks.

I'm trying to insert a block, wich contains 2 nested blocks:
1 dynamic block
1 annotive block which has a scale 1:200 with an attribute.
when i'm inserting it trough the toolpalette, and my annoscale is 1:100, the annotive block is converted to the annotive scale 1:100, instead of the 1:200 wich it originally is.
I can't set the annotationscale in the toolpallete, exept when i use macro's. but this also has a drawback.
when i'm inserting the block with a macro, i have to insert a complete drawing wich contains only this one block.This block contains dynamic parameters (i can't add dynamic parameters outside of the blockeditor)
When this block (dwg) is inserted, i explode the block so it becomes the dynamic block again. but the block cannot be redefined, because the actual inserted block is a dwg file.
Is it a drawback of the use of the toolpalette and dynamic / annotive blocks?
I am working with a client who has a standard tool pallete with blocks. I already have imported/customized the tool palletes as per their manual. The blocks show up in the tool paleltte, but when i drag to insert them. It can't locate the symbols file and gives me this error : Source drawing "H:MASTER-SYMBOLS.dwg for block "X" not found.
I have the master symbols drawing as indicated and pathed the location through optionsfiles tool palletes file locations.
I'm trying to save blocks to a new tool palette and it won't let me.
I'm doing everything I've always done. Right click on the tool palette, click "new palette" then change the name.
the new tab appears on the tool palette. I go then to drag the block from my drawing to the newly made palette.
As I drag over the tool palette with block, the black line appears on the palette as it should, but when I drop it to the palette its not there. I can drag and drop that same block to any of the other tabs on the tool palette whether it's a default one or one that I've made previously. I've done this process a thousand times, it always worked without a problem. All of a sudden it doesn't. I havent made any changes to my pc or os except for the microsoft updates.
I've also tried to load the blocks from design center to the new palette, no success!
I've checked to make sure tool palettes are saving to the right file....

and they are not read only!
I'm running Windows XP Pro, never had any issues until now.
Is there an patch or update to fix this

It's very frustrating, when you can't work on a project the way your used to
1) All of the computers at the office allow you to drag and drop blocks on the tool palette except one. You must go thru the Design Center to add blocks to the palette on this one computer.
2) Another tool palette question; a few of the blocks do not have an image on the palette, only the block name. They work just like the ones with images but a quick check of the properties indicates no difference. Why no image?
I have a problem in Autocad2011model space when I drag blocks from the tool palette they disappear. The block initially appears when I grab it and drag it across the model space. Then when I go to insert it in position on the drawing as per normal it then vanishes. If I insert the same blocks using the 'insert block' method the blocks insert normally.

I would like to click on a dynamic block in the tool palette and have it prompt for the (uniform) scale. It seems simple enough but either all the dynamic properties are lost or it is inserted at 1"x1" (the scale of my original block). How to get this to work?

how do I remove it. I'm looking at sharing these blocks with all our users and could do without this message appearing whenever they click them.
I've made annotative blocks and I've made dynamic blocks... My intent is to integrate both but I can't find a way to move dynamic block parameters separately at different annotative scales.
In other words, if I insert an annotative dimension and add multiple scales I can move the dimension grips independently at each scale. If I insert a dynamic block I want to be able to use the dynamic block's action "grips" to do the same. However, with a dynamic block, if I move a stretch action at one annotation scale it moves the action at all annotation scales.
The attached file shows a simple example.
I have problem with attached block (also with other similar blocks with field). This block include field in block attribute. Works fine if I copy and paste this block. When I drag and drop from Tool Pallete field disappeary.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have created a dynamic block with several visiblility states. The block works great for what I need it for. however, I am trying to add one more action to the block but am having issues.
This block is essentially a 24" retail cabinet with the visibility states showing the different drawer and shelf configurations. I want to be able to lengthen the cabinet in 24" increments and have the visibility show for each 24" section.....e.g. I want a 10' cabinet so I bring in the 24" starter block. Then stretch the cabinet to the 10' mark, then I can chose any drawer/shelve config for each 24" section (they are all different).
I can get the block to stretch in 24" sections....no problem.....i just want the visibility state to be duplicated as well for each section. Now as it stretches, there is only one Vis state and it only populates the first cabinet.
I could do this by copying the block over and over 5 times.....but I am hoping there is a way to make this dynamic.
I have a block I am making into a Dynamic Block. I will be adding in different visibility states. Depending on the visibility state the block would need to be inserted from a different point.
My question is, is it possible to add multiple insertion points to a dynamic block so depending on the visibility state it defaults to the correct insertion point?
For some reason, the tool palette I usually use is not accessible. I opened a drawing that a co-worker was using and my tool palette now looks like an old version - it doesn't have any of my custom tools in it. How do I get back my tool palette??

Is there anyway to link standard AutoCAD Grips and there commands to Dynamic Block Actions? I want to stretch an arc by its midpoint grip. This accomplishes something that no other commands do.

I am asking the user to select points and insert a block at each of the selected points. On user exit from the point selection I draw a polyline connecting the blocks.
However, I cannot get the already inserted blocks to display until I complete the insertion of all blocks. How do I go about getting them to display as soon as they are inserted? We are having a problem with blocks not appearing after xreferencing a drawing. We can place blocks as normal from the tool palette, but as soon as we xreference a 2D site plan and select blocks from the tool palette, they will not place. You can see them when placing, but once you click to place it, the block does not appear. I have copied out the site plan to a new dwg file, still does the same thing. Everything has been purged and ran an audit in the plan drawing and also the site plan drawing. The block does not show up in the block editor either. I am trying to avoid redrawing the site plan like we had done with two models that were doing the same thing. Remodeling a vessel and rebuilding a skid composite corrected the problem with two other drawings, but redrawing this site plan would take considerable time.
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo I've done a reasonable amount of work with dynamic blocks. I have a block with a rotation action and grip to arbitrarily align it. However I realized when trying to combine it with an alignment grip (which actions on the basic or fundamental block rotation angle) that there didn't seem to be a way to some how link a dynamic block rotation action or one of the custom angle properties to a the fundamental block rotation angle. Thus there are two additive rotations at work; the dynamic block one with its grip and the fundamental rotation property.
This can cause some confusion when one person aligns with the grip and another via rotating the block's fundamental property and would also be problematic in the generalized sense if one was trying to select or programmatically read back the net angle alignment.
I have a dynamic block, that represents a stirrup.
I inserted in the block a Block Propreties Table, that have some preset dimensions for the stirrups. The grip of this table I decided to put in the top right corner.
The problem is that I can't make this grip moveable )

new to dynamic blocks but looking to streamline my wiring diagrams here and have created a block that shows the typical wire styles we use in a simple easy way. I now want to add an overall flip to the entire block and have not been able to find set this. I would prefer to use the same label and go from there. I have included the block to show what I mean. It is only working on the single visible item at the one time. I know this has to be possible just let me know what I am doing wrong. I am running AutoCad LT 2013
View 3 Replies View RelatedI need to create a dynamic block for a "Glass Panel" in a balustrade. I need to be able to insert it, in one corner and stretch it in another corner, to suit the staircase angle.
I've created the block, but it isn't working correctly. I've attached a drawing, with the left hand drawing a sketch of how it needs to be. The right hand drawing is my dynamic block attempt. As can be seen, when the block is stretched between the 2 points, it doesn't follow the angle of the staircase correctly (Very slight run off)
I wish to create a dynamic block containing some attributes. These attributes are inside rectangles that can't be modified in length using linear parameters ; but the attribute has to be always in the middle of the rectangle. So, I draw a line inside the rectangle (in a hidden layer) and insert the attribute with center justification (not sure for the translation) that I place in the middle of this line ; then I put a coincidence constraint (not sure for the translation, but it's the first one) linking the middle of the line with the middle of the attribute.
But here's the problem : when stretching my rectangle, the insertion point of the attribute suddenly changes from "center" to "bottom left".
I am looking for a way to use the ATTIN/ATTOUT workflow to bring in data from an excel spreadsheet to drive the size of each of my block's instances. The block will be simple, a rectangle, with width and length parameters. For each entity in my excel/csv file these parameter values are spelled out. I know how to display these parameters in my attributes, but I don't know how, if I were to feed in these values, to drive the geometry. If there's a better way to take a list of width and length values to generate a series of blocks each with a rectangle containing its respective size.
