AutoCad :: Inserting Custom Tool Palette
May 31, 2013I recently got a new drafting job for a chemical plant. The issue that I am having is that they are using AutoCAD 2004. That version came out when I was a freshman in high school and I am lost. I am trying to insert the custom blocks that pertain to our design standards, but I am getting nowhere.
I have the blocks in a separate folder. I am getting to the customize tool palette option, but every time I try and import these files the folders show up empty. Admittedly, I am not the greatest with the complexities of AutoCAD because I picked it up on the job and never had any "official" training; however, it has also been two years since I've had to do this and I am a little rusty... I'd like to think it's just that because they are using decade old software.
AutoCad :: Unable To Find Image From Tool Palette For Inserting
Aug 16, 2011I've recently installed auto cad 2007lt on our new computer. I set up numerous tool palettes with blocks that we use often. I was pulling images from the palettes to my drawing with no problem.
Today when I tried inserting an image from the tool palette it is saying that the image can not be found. I've tried under previous drawings and new templates and have been unsuccessful.

Apr 20, 2012Every time I attempt to insert a block with an attribute in it from my tool pallet I get the error FATAL ERROR: Unhandled Acess Violation Reading 0x0020 Exception at 4260af08u.
If I insert a block without attributes it works fine. I even tried building a block in 2013 and then inserting it from the toolpallet, still fatal error's out.

Nov 5, 2013Whenever I insert a block into my drawing from the Tool Palette, Autocad creates a Text Style and Dimension Style,both named Annotative. This happens on any drawing, with any block.
I can purge them after the block has been inserted. They are NOT nested in the blocks. I have tried recreated the tool. Nothing seems to be working.

Mar 22, 2012I am working with a client who has a standard tool pallete with blocks. I already have imported/customized the tool palletes as per their manual. The blocks show up in the tool paleltte, but when i drag to insert them. It can't locate the symbols file and gives me this error : Source drawing "H:MASTER-SYMBOLS.dwg for block "X" not found.
I have the master symbols drawing as indicated and pathed the location through optionsfiles tool palletes file locations.
AutoCAD 2010 :: Saving Blocks To New Tool Palette
Feb 14, 2012I'm trying to save blocks to a new tool palette and it won't let me.
I'm doing everything I've always done. Right click on the tool palette, click "new palette" then change the name.
the new tab appears on the tool palette. I go then to drag the block from my drawing to the newly made palette.
As I drag over the tool palette with block, the black line appears on the palette as it should, but when I drop it to the palette its not there. I can drag and drop that same block to any of the other tabs on the tool palette whether it's a default one or one that I've made previously. I've done this process a thousand times, it always worked without a problem. All of a sudden it doesn't. I havent made any changes to my pc or os except for the microsoft updates.
I've also tried to load the blocks from design center to the new palette, no success!
I've checked to make sure tool palettes are saving to the right file....

and they are not read only!
I'm running Windows XP Pro, never had any issues until now.
Is there an patch or update to fix this

Jun 8, 20111) All of the computers at the office allow you to drag and drop blocks on the tool palette except one. You must go thru the Design Center to add blocks to the palette on this one computer.
2) Another tool palette question; a few of the blocks do not have an image on the palette, only the block name. They work just like the ones with images but a quick check of the properties indicates no difference. Why no image?

Oct 17, 2011I have a problem in Autocad2011model space when I drag blocks from the tool palette they disappear. The block initially appears when I grab it and drag it across the model space. Then when I go to insert it in position on the drawing as per normal it then vanishes. If I insert the same blocks using the 'insert block' method the blocks insert normally.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Dynamic Blocks From Several Different Files Referenced In One Tool Palette
Mar 22, 2013I've begun to create tool palettes to organize my blocks and often-used items. I have no trouble creating the tool palette, inserting regular blocks, export/import of the tool palette and groups, however my problem involves Dynamic Blocks and the fact that I keep each seperate dynamic block in a different file. I do this so that I can easily insert the block into a new drawing.
I'm able to drag the dwg file onto the palette (from explorer to autocad) just fine, that way the block's reference in the palette is the original file. Although when I take this method, I don't gain the lighting bolt to signify a dynamic block.
To get the lighting bolt I insert the block into an empty drawing, save it, then drag the block over to the palette. The problem with this is that the tool palette references the saved blank drawing, not the original block's file.
My endgame is to have a tool palette that contains my dynamic blocks and that will be eventually exported/imported to other computers everytime there is a major change. I also want to be able to change the original block's file and have that change be reflected in the tool palette.

May 1, 2012Noticed that the Dynamic Blocks in the Annotation Tool Palette are missing? Let me rephrase that, in the Tool palette they show up, but the dwg's that they reference are missing. I have 4 users that are currently testing Civil 3D 2013 and all of them are missing the files.
I'm sure I could copy them from 2012, but still.

In VBA, how can I batch convert field attributes in blocks to text attributes while retaining the blocks? Is there a simple way to univerally convert them all at onceusing VBA? The plotted values for the fields must be retained, too.
Explode will not retain the value of the field.
Burst will not work as it explodes the blocks as well.
You can right-click on the field and slelct "Convert to text" from the RCM. So I know that the process exists within CAD, just need to batch the process for a quantity of DWGs at a time - in VBA.

Apr 15, 2011I'm trying to build a routine for my job to insert a block which consists of 3 single line variable attributes in a specific order. I need to be able to do this on many different drawings, and I would like to share this ability with my coworkers. Using the DesignCenter is not an option. In order to do this, I saved a drawing which consisted of the three attributes in the layout in which I need them to appear, however the order in which it prompts me to enter them is reversed. I already know how to set the order of attributes in an EXISTING block definition using the BATTMAN command, as every time I run the routine again, I'm redefining the block definition.
I'm not sure if it's important to know this, but the routine consists of a button with the following macro:

AutoCad :: Inserting Text Attribute In Title Block
Nov 13, 2013starting a new job at work so setting up the job folder etc. grabbed the title block and the text attribute insert from the library.....
so here is when the issue started.....so title block and text attribute are both saved in model space, both have all the same settings, this also applies to the template we have here all match.
so i xref in my title page at 1:1 which comes in normal, then i insert my attribute block in at 1:1 but it comes in at some super size thing, normal 3.5 text size is now 1000......
have fiddled with everything gone back to the library set etc but got no idea.
the interesting bit is if i open the title block and insert the attribute block in, it comes in perfect......
so in saying that i am assuming it is the work template..... but none of this has changed for over a month and have created drawings since then........maybe a random setting somewhere has changed but again haven't done anything different to normal no new radical changes....
i have attached a copy of the title block and the text attribute.

Aug 16, 2011 when I insert a block with attributes I get the prompts on the commandline to fill in the attributes. Can I stop this from happeneing, and just insert the block?
Alternatively, can I get the Attribute Editor dialogue box to come up instead?
Sidenote: How hard is it for people to learn that blocks need to be INSERTED not copied - if you copy the blasted thing the attributes are messed up, why is that so HARD?

Mar 7, 2013I created an attribute of a title block, our company logo is inserted as a raster image within the attribute, I created this dwg file into a dwt file (template) however every time I open a new drawing and insert in the template file in the paperspace tab the attribute comes in but always with the logo?
The frame of the logo shows up with the file path of where is is located.

One of the values for Y is 0. And the block instead of showing on X,0 it shows at some X,Y value. If you need to see the csv file I can upload it.
AutoCad :: Blocks Inserting Improperly
Nov 4, 2011I just created a dynamic block for our rev clouds, cause they're annoying to draw.
For some reason when I insert it, it is automatically inserting at 0,0. Why is it doing that? Also, if I put it into a Tool Palette (my boss just discovered these, so I'm creating a whole bunch for the company... those things are AWESOME) and when I use the Tool Palette, it works just fine.
Now, this won't be a problem as long as everyone uses the TP's I'm creating, but we have one Engineer in particular that's a toolbag and doesn't seem to remember to use all the stuff I spend all this time researching and programming.

Oct 31, 2012This was my first go-around attempting to create a custom tool palette for our office. Everything was fine, the palette worked well. All of the block libraries and associated files were initially saved on my local drive. I then moved the files and folders out on the network, repathed all the items on the palette to the new area but for whatever reason when I insert blocks that have attribute data attached It is not recognizing it anymore. I am just trying to get this piece straightened out before I export the palette itself out to the network to share.

In 2012 the attribute dialog box does not come up and point information for block placement is filled in the attributes. Is there a system variable that changes dialog boxes in 2012?
