My firm worked on a project recently with a sheet numbering system that created long sheet numbers, ie, MH-101-R1. Since the sheet numbers were so long, they no longer fit in our normal sheet/detail/drawing label blocks. (See attached DWG for an example.)
We are looking to create either a dynamic block or some kind of block that will automatically stretch with the text length.
Is it possible to change the length of a line based on the length of an attribute?
I'd like to make the line a MINIMUM length of X" (I haven't decided how long yet--but know I'll need a minimum). But then after the user fills in the attribute, I'd like the length of the line to change to the length of the attribute plus a small amount (again, I haven't decided yet how much extra).
is there a way to associate a stretch action with the length of an attribute value (i.e. # of characters in the string) or is this something left to vlisp?
View 1 Replies View Relatedin order to streamline some of my duties i wonder if theres a way to have a dynamic block not only that can change it's length and the dimension for that length (easy) but will also add features to the part. For example can one be made that when stretching its length that once it reaches a certain length automatically split into two sections and keep those 2 sections equal? Also can it be made to contain a tag that keeps track of the lengths as well as number of joints between sections multiplied by a constant?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create a pline in a dynamic block where the length is determined by two values I would input into properties or as attributes.
The first value 'A' will be a ground surface elevation
The second value 'B' will be a ground water elevation
I would like to the pline to have a length of A minus B.
I would then also like to have mtext (or any other method of display text) to display the values of A and B.
For example, if I have a ground surface of 102 and a ground water of 91, my line length will be 11, and I can display a label of '102' at the top of the line and '91' at the bottom of the line.
I've created dynamic blocks before, but none that have used an expression of two values or having to display inputted values. I'm not really sure where to start with this, or if it's even possible.
I'm trying to finally utilize iLogic and all of its functionality (after using the basic features of inventor for the past 3 or so years) and I was wondering if there was a way to use iLogic (or some other feature for inventor) to resize text in a title block field of an IDW based on the length of the text entered (i.e. if the part's name was "Cam Retainer" the text height would be .12, but if its part name was "Spacer Cam Retainer Bushing" the text height would shrink down to .085 or something) so that it would still fit nicely into the text block?

I thing the key element is to create an point that is attached to the end of the text and apply an stretch to it, but I didn't succeed.
I was wondering if there is a way with DB's to have a line "follow" or "grow" with the content/value length of an attribute. Maybe some method of linking the attribute width to length of the line? Essentially, it would work just like turning on the underline setting when typing in mtext editor (or any program with an underline option for that matter), expect that the line could be placed anywhere, and would not have to reside directly below the text.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWe used a bespoke program to convert our drawings to Java applets for web usage. This does not cope with dynamic blocks at present and we have started to receive drawings from our clients using them.
I need to replace this with standard static blocks based on one of two criteria. Either:
1) Replace based on visibility state (have generic chair block with multiple different chair types set by visibility type, need to replace depending on which type it is set as)
2) Replace based on parameter (have table with size set by dimensions, need to replace with static block for each dimension)

I have created a dynamic block. Herein I placed stretch actions parameter set to strecht parts including anotative text.
Now the block seems to work fine.
- When I am in modelspace and I change the annotation scale the text is changed correct
- When I am in modelspace and I change the stretch value of the dynamic block everything goes fine.
But when I am in modelspace and I change the stretch value in one of the annotiaton scales and then switch to another scale my text is changed annotativly (this is what I want) but the stretch value is set back to default (which should be at the changed value).
Currently when I pick a grip at the end of a polygon line and type a length, the polygon goes to that length.
Is there a setting anywhere that changes this behavior to add the typed length to the polygon, hence stretching it to this new length. This would be the same as lengthen when drawing with lines.
I am making a wheel but my tire is too short so that i need to stretch or adjust the lenght of my tire how can i adjut so that my tire can settle the remaining of my rim.

I've got to create a dynamic block for Rebar, with symbols (which are blocks) at two end of the bar line can be changed scale follow annotation scale changes.
The problem is after I have stretch the linear grip to change the length of the rebar, if I change to another annotation scale, the sybol block auto jump to the original position, not at the ends of line as I expected. How to keep the symbols at ends?
I use dynamic blocks a lot of the time and most of them have a stretch action in them. What used to happen would be that whenever I clicked on the block I wanted to adjust and then clicked on the stretch action, it would show the distance from the base point and I was able to type in the new length of the object I was stretching. But now whenever I click on the stretch action, it shows that the current length is 0 and it is asking for the distance from the current point, not the base point. How can I change it so that it is always just the distance from the base point?
View 7 Replies View RelatedOkay, I'm new to associative arrays, I'm attaching a drawing so you can see what I'm trying to accomplish with this. I'm doing an elevation view of a slab that has a cross section of the rebar. I've shown one of the bars spanning from left to right, represented by a rectangle, and the cross section of the bars running front to back represented by circles. You can see what I'm trying to show here. In the drawing I've attached, the top three sketches are examples of how this would look if it were working correctly.
What I'm trying to do is create an array (of circles) that will stretch to the length of the bar spanning left to right. I want the quantity of items in the array to automatically change based on the length of the bar and the spacing of items, so if there is 6" of spacing between the items instead of 12" it will automatically add twice the amount of items to fill in that space. I've been trying to use a path array, and it isn't working the way I want. I'm not familiar with rectangular arrays, so not sure what to do there either.
I have a contractor that created several families for us, and they left all the ref. planes full length, and I what them nearer to the objects. When I open the family all I see is ref. planes, I need to see them, I just want the closer to the parts not stick extremely far away. I can pick them one at a time, but sure would be nice to grab them at once.

This makes that I`ve to move manually the block to the new position. Is there any way to stretch objects and blocks together?

This block shows the tick marks as well as a the value in a dynamic input box. How can I have the value displayed in my custom dynamic block. All I have is the "tick" marks.
I have been working on a dynamic block that need to look like the attached jpg. Basically it needs to be able to stretch up to 50'-0" but in ten foot segments (part size limits) +/- an additional but in 1 foot increments.
I've got two blocks that will either array or stretch. But have not been able to get it to match the actual requirements. I have attached my current block attempt. Also as you can see from the jpg, the support posts usually alternate as well and I haven't figured that out yet either .
If you have a drawing open and the Tool Palette Architectural open click on the door. It has "tick marks" where you can stretch the doors opening to (24", 32"). I want to know how to add those "tick marks" to my blocks .

Basically how it works is that it is suppose to be inserted and then stretched to indicate a finish change in the floor. When I insert it and stretch it, it works exactly as I want it, but when the scale is changed, the center tag resets to the original center before the block is stretched. I would like it to stay in the center relative to the line that is stretched.
Not sure if you understand, but if you are good with dynamic blocks. You will notice that the dot is annotative where as the line that stretchs is not. I cant have the line change because it will be stretched between two areas with different floor finishes and that will stay consistant. I want the block to adjust so that it is the same size on all the scales of the drawing.
I have several placeholders where I have added keyframes for instance opacity fade up and down at the beginning and ending of the layer. If I replace it and the video is longer/shorter than the placeholder then the keyframes will not adjust. Is there some way to have keyframes move dynamically based on the video length? I looked into expressions to calculate the start and end time of the layer then fade in and fade out using the time but it was quite time consuming and inefficient, it would also be hard to write new code for say position versus have dynamic keyframes.

My block works fine once and then breaks down. Stretch the block in the 'Y' direction. Deselect the block. Stretch the block again and only the grip moves. Edit the block and close the block, the block resets.
if it's possible to link a rotation with a stretching action. I have a text (or an attribute) inside a box that can be stretched. But if the box becomes too small to hold the text horizontally, I would like that the text automatically rotate vertically without any other action that stretching the box. If that is possible, is it also possible that instead of a text, there's an attribute, and that it rotates according to the attribute's length ?

I created a dynamic block with a polar stretch. I insert the block, then have to select the grip to rotate/stretch it. Can it be inserted and then rotated/stretched all in one action? The insertion point is at one of the line and the polar stretch grip is at the other end.

Distance Type: Increment
Dist Increment: 1
Dist Minimum: 1
Dist Maximum: unlimited
I also have a linear stretch D2:
Distance Type: Increment
Dist Increment: 1
Dist Minimum: 1
Dist Maximum: is it possible to set the maximum distance to equal D1-2.5??
Both linear stretch D1 and D2 can be stretched independently. So D1 may be stretched to 100, and D2 may be stretched to 50, but what I am trying to do is ensure that D2 will never stretch beyond the distance of D1.
I was wondering if it is possible to use dynamic blocks to stretch a rectangle evenly, using only 1 point? I have attached a PDF of a rectangle with 2 lines coming out of each side (before & after picture). I want to use dynamic blocks to pick a point at the top right of the block, so that when I pull it out, the lines will extend, but stay attached to the rectangle. I also what the rectangle to stay in the center at all times.
