AutoCAD Map 3D :: Exporting Polylines To Polygons - Invalid SHP File
Oct 17, 2007
While exporting polylines to polygons as an autocad shp file I get an error when trying to open the file in ArcExplorer 9.2 Java edition. The error code in an invalid field length in the dbf file. Is it specific to Autocad map export issues. The attribute table is an Access file (link template).
On my file I have some polylines that are the streets. So, they look like rectangles and curves, etc. I am working also on a 3D Model, and what I have to do next is to extrude them. The problem is that those polylines are not polygons, and so, they are not solids when I extrude them. I tried to use the command BO but it says that the lines are not closed, and I checked with OSNAP and they are! Is there any way to convert those polylines into polygons?
I've been sent a series of CAD drawings in which the author has used global width to define the appearance of features. I need to import this into our GIS, which for reasons too complex to bother with won't import any attributes such as width. I don't want to lose the information recorded so was wondering if it's possible to create a closed polygon to represent the shape of the line. I guess something might be possible using buffering, but I can't figure out how to use the existing line width.
I'm working with a SHP file that contains 56,000 polygons, but I want to export 18 of these that are relevant for my area. Is there an easy way to do this if I create a filter based on a unique data field?
Is there a way of trimming an SDF or SHP file with multiple polygons within a boundary buffer zone, but keep the entire of all of the crossing polygons.
I have managed to create a feature overlay for the trimming selection but the 'Union' command creates a new layer with all of both SDF files I'm comparing, not just the ones within the buffer zone.
I am trying to union two .sdf-files with landuse data (from different year) to calculate the changes in landuse. Within each .sdf file i have several multipolygons with each a type of use. I would like to convert these multipolygons into single polygons. I would like to this, to have more control over which polygons are use and to select only the landusetypes i need.
Is it possbile to explode multipolygons of a .sdf-file in to single polygons?
I have a .dwg file that I believe is corrupt, because when I try to open it in Autocad it says that it is invalid. Is there any way to recover this file?
Size of Drawing file is 4.33 mb. But Can not Open. A message appears " Drawing File Invalid"
Can I Retrieve the data.? No backup file is available in my system. I have tried with recovery tool but unable to get original data for Any other option .
When working with an IAssembly I keep getting an error message that reads "an unnamed file contains an invalid path." I cannot seem to find a problem anywhere.
As the above mentioned, I have a drawing drawn using polylines with width from someone. The width of the line are suppose to represent area,
To put things into prospective, here is an example:
The polyline is 10 unit long and with a width of 2 unit wide. If i explode that polyline, it will become a single polyline without width. The line are suppose to represent 10 unit long and 2 unit wide; representing an area.
My question is is there a way to change the line above directly from polyline with width to a close polyline (4 x polylines) of 10 unit long and 2 unit wide.
In the ipt. sheet metal file, we create the flat and export face as a dxf file to use in our cnc software.
The problem is that our shop guy cannot open the dxf in the cnc software (he gets an error) unless we open the dxf in Autocad and explode it and resave. For some reason, Inventor creates the dxf with the perimeter of the part as a polyline.
Is there a setting that could keep it from making it a polyline.
It is time consuming to have to go into Autocad, explode and resave every sheet metal part.
Is there a way of converting 3d polylines to polylines with an elevation?
I have a dwg of contour information, the contours are 3d polylines, because they are contours the z value is constant all along the line, so there no question what the elevation of the polyline would need to be.
I need to do this as I then need to import the dwg into a GIS programme called MapInfo whch doesn't read 3d polylines.
I am trying to export polylines as a shape file. When I use the mapexport command, it asks me to save the file but the dialog box does not open after I name and save the shape file. How do i get this dialog box to open so I can use the map export command? I have Civil 3D 2014.
I would like an VB application that from within autocad can open an excel file, from there select 2 columns containing x,y co-ordinates. Which when selected will draw a polyline in the acad drawing.
I usually do this the long way, but it seems I'm doing it more and more so would like to have it fairly automated.New to VBA and stuck at even opening the excel file....nevermind the actual selecting columns and drawing of the polyline!!!
I'm trying to import files from my GoPro's, i can watch the video's on Quick Time player, but when i go to import them to either V4 or V5 it comes up with a invaild file error.
I have a large drawing with 5 meter contours that are 2D polylines on elevation. In Civil 3D 2012, when the crosshairs touch a polyline the drawing hangs for quite awhile. I've cut a piece out of the drawing so it is 28mb instead of 121mb and now the hang time is much less but it still does it. It does not happen in AutoCAD 2012.

For the past three days i have been working on a drawing in photoshop CS6. I was working on it this morning and it went just fine. I save it and when i quite the program a message appeared saying Photoshop has stoped working.
The file was still in the place i saved it, everything seemed ok so i took a brake. A few hours later i tried to open it again and a message apeared saying Photoshop could not open the file because it is not a valid Photoshop file I have tried to open previous .psd files and they worked just fine.
when I start Revit it show me this message, I cant find any component in my library components, any solutions? It says: "The default template file you have specified does not exist:"
I've downloaded the file on the download page 9 times, and get the same error each time I try mounting it in OSX 10.6.8. My machine has the right specs. The downloaded file size is always 411.7 mb, but the download page says it should be 392.7 mb.
When I try to open the program, it gives me the following error: "Could not initialize photoshop because the preferences file was invalid (it has been deleted). I've uninstalled and re-installed the program.
I'm Testing77. I'm a graphic designer for screen printing, formerly a screen printer, and I work primarily in CorelDrawx5. I work on a MacbookPro, where I run Parallels and then XP in order to operate the windows-only program on my MBP.
I'm posting to publicize an error I've been running into as far as saving cdr files goes. Again, I run x5 through parallels, and there a grey area between what characters you can use in file names on Mac as opposed to Windows. I can use a "/" on a mac file name, and not on windows for example. In any event, I get a 'save drawing' error saying the file name is invalid in certain folders. I have a 'corel files' folder that contains primarily registration mark template files, a folder for my companies files, 10-15 folders for my most-frequent clients, and a "Misc" folder that contains subfolders for less-frequent clients. I tend to get the error message in the subfolders of the Misc folder. The message does pop up in other folders.
Technical side: Instead of simply saving to c:/documents and settings/~username/my documents/corel files/~my clients files/FILENAME.cdr I have to go through a "Z:/" drive (what windows thinks the mac is) so the directory I actually save to looks like this: \psfHomeDocumentscorel files/~my clients files/FILENAME.cdr. Effectively directly linking the "Documents" folder in Mac to the My Documents folder on windows.
I am using Corel Graphic Suite X3. I created one file of 330 MB. It contains text and images....
But now when i am opening this file it say "File contains Invalid Object" "IGNORE:ABORT:RETRY"..I chose every option but nothing seems to happen and corel draw gets hanged..I tried importing it..also i tried re installing it but nothing seem to work...
this file is very imp and i have to open it...Wht to do? Also any future precautions, if any?
And am i using the right version? Im mean is is because this is the lower version and i need 2 upgrade?
Everytime I open my CS6, it always show " Could not initialize Photoshop because the preferences file was invalid (it has been deleted)" I reinstalled it but it is still popping out.
Im running MEP 2012. When I try to export a .dwg file to a .dxf file, I can see activity in the folder where I'm try to send the .dxf, but then all activity stops and no .dxf was created.
In Photoshop CS6 extended, when exporting 3D file as an .obj (that has a material assigned to it), it does not create the material file - .mtl - only the .obj file is created.
Is there a setting I am missing? It works on another station, so I assume its a setting.
