I am trying to attach a Source Data Connection to a DEM that is 100km x 77km. I keep getting the error message "There was a problem adding data to Map." I have set the projection. I have also tried a changing the source DEM sizes - 100m grid and 1000m grid.
Also tried GeoTiff and ESRI asc formats. Still same error message.
Using Map 3D 2012 64 bit on Windows 7
I have been trying to add a county wide 3m dem into C3D 2012 with no success. My goal is to be able to open a drawing, zoom into a small section of the county and instantly have an accurate surface to look at. I realize this is an extremely large file with over 450 million points but I was hoping that if I set the surface to "no display" then created a boundary around the work area before turning the surface on it might work. However, I can't even get the dem to load without crashing the computer. I've also tried adding a data clip boundary to the surface then adding the dem. This worked but was extremely slow loading defeating the purpose. Is there another method used for adding a dem as large as this to a surface?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have some very large comma delimited ENZ files that I wish to create point clouds from. When I try to read points into a points cloud from this file I get "an error occurred in data processing" after a few seconds.
Since the error occurs early on, I was assuming C3D is getting hung up because of the first row of the file which contains an "x,y,z" header. The text files (around 270MB) are too large to open in wordpad, excel or similar, so I'm not aware of any way to edit or delete this line. To counter this I tried creating a new point file format using "x" as the comment tag (and setting all the other parameters as required. This "parsed" properly when testing on the file, however when I tried to import either as points or into a point cloud I still get the same error as above.
Is the file size/number of points too large for C3D or is it some other problem?
to add large test to large resolution files, i.e. 4000 pixel files from Canon 5d for example?
When I have small files, 500 or 1000 pixels for web, no problem, but if I try on a bigger, it seems even the largest fonts, look miniscule.

View 7 Replies View RelatedAn associate is trying to open a 60,000 x 60,000 tiff file using PS CS5.1-Extended on a windows 7 platform with 6G RAM.
He gets the error message "Photoshop can only decode JPEG encoded images up to 32767 pixels wide of tall."
I suggested that he might have a jpeg whose extension got changed to tiff. He says no, it's a tiff, and besides how would one generate a jpeg that size.
In working with slightly more complex curve shapes in CorelDraw X5, I'm discovering when using the contour option it results in an error ("Contour Offset too large"). This was not experienced in CorelDraw 9 at all. I'm experiencing this error with inside or outside contours, steps at 1, offset at 0.1. Reducing nodes eventually will allow the contour to be successful. However, it takes an extreme reduction of nodes which distorts the shape a lot.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen attempting to attach WMS data, Map Task Pane>Display Manager Tab>Data>Data Connect dialog>Data Connections by provider.
After entering the server name or URL and choosing "connect" I get the following errors:
"Failed to open FDO connection"
"The HTTP request URI was not found by the server"
It seems to work just fine for other users using the same steps.

I am working on a 6 mile highway project whose surface file is 85MB big. So, I created a Data Shortcut of this surface and used this for creating profiles. However, at some locations the corridors go below the surface(as per their original profile) which was not intended. So, I need to restrict the surface to follow the corridors but not go beyond it.
I have created feature lines from corridors and tried to add them as breaklines to the surface. But " error adding breakline" error pops up.
Is it because I am trying to add the breaklines to the mirror surface which I created from Data Shortcut ??
Will it be useful if I copy feature lines to original surface file and add these feature lines as breaklines in that file??

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running Photoshop Elements 5.0. Everything was working fine til this mornin. I've had the program for about a year now. When I tried to open it this morning I got this error message that popped up.
It says:
Unable to continue because of a hardware or system error. Sorry, but this error is unrecoverable.
I've tried repairing the program. That didn't work. Restarted my computer. That didn't work. Uninstalled the program and tried opening it again. That didn't work. I'm at a loss! I really need to get into my program b/c my work is there. I tried opening some of my files (they are located in my Pictures folder) and they pop up with the same message.

I am familiar with GIS but I am new to AutoCAD Map 2012.
I have 140,000 lines and 20,000 points.
I would like to have all points closer than 1 meter to a line.
This is what I tried to do:
buffer the lines (_mapfdobuffercreate)overlay points and buffer (_MapGisOverLay) to get all points in the buffer area
This works well with a small amount of data.But in step 1 I have to select all lines (140,000) with the mouse. When I try to select all lines with the mouse AutoCAD Map freezes after some minutes. Is there a way with AutoCAD to work on a “layer basis” and not on a “selection set basis”. Other GIS (ESRI, Quantum, …) work with a complete layer.
In this analysis I work with FDO Data (shp,sqlite,sdf). I have geometries, but no attribute data.
I am using AutoCAD LT for Mac and would like to be able to make large format PDF files. I have only one printer installed and the maximum page size is legal. It makes great PDF files as long as they are letter or legal. Is there a way to install a "phantom" printer that has architectural sheet sizes, preferably in color?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a dwg file with >9.8MB. When use Ctrl-c Autocad freeze for 15 seconds aprox.I can open and manipulate this file with other CAD Software and regenerate this file in only 531Kb (that is true for my file), with the same elements (identical file).
I try to purge, reset scalelistedit, but nothing.(I want to attach >9.8MB file but is to large for this discussion group)
I'm trying to create an array from one block with the option to specify columns, rows, respective offsets as well as angle. The original block comes from a 98kb dmg and is pre-inserted at a specific x,y,z in the model space. The issue I run into is whenever i try to create an array with say more than 200 lines and 200 columns, the machine locks up. It generally will create the array however it can take upwards of 5 minutes.

I have a large fill area directly dropping to to a large cut area. All of the above work is in rock, There is a retaining wall along a section of the "cliff face" but not at the ends where the cut and fill meet.
I would like to transition the fill batter on to the cut batter to enable the filled area above to be self supporting.
I am having a problem with a bunch of existing drawings. The drawings displayed fine with Autocad 2009 but with 2010 the blocks have huge rectangles drawn around them. (so big they extend off the title block) We have a few machines running older versions and the drawings display fine but any machine with 2010 all displays these boxes.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a CAD station that is having all sorts of issues all of a sudden. When one of our architects opens her drawings she gets the "Hatch - Large, Dense Hatch Patterns" dialogue box.
When I we choose the "Do not convert these hatch patterns" and open the drawing, it converts all the hatch patterns to solid anyway. This is mostly affecting the walls and converting all the hatch into one solid blob of a hatch.
One weird thing is this only happens in the medium detail display configuration. I can go to any other display and it is fine. The other weird thing is that these same drawings open fine on any other computer so it has to be a system problem.
The other gremlin I solved yesterday was that the system all of a sudden was not recognizing the LTYPESHP.SHX file. I had to add the DataCache support folder containing a ltypeshp.shx file to the support file search path.
Any way, through acad.lsp or similar, to check "Yes" and "Always perform my current choice" for all users in the dialog below? I just don't know if this is a system variable or something else that is easy to set.
View 2 Replies View RelatedA customer has sent me a .sat file that is 297MB. Inventor is grinding at it, but its taking a very long time to open. Part count is up to 4323 open documents and the "Importing SAT Bodies-54%".
This has been running for two hours and it seems like it is getting slower and slower. My concern here is that this machine will run out of memory before it completes. It has 8GB of installed ram.
Any tips on bringing these large files into Inventor? Would a different neutral format be any faster/better?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI received a drawing from a client where the architectural ticks display very large. The leader arrow shows as the correct size but the dimension tick does not. I went into the dimension style manager (dimstyle) and everything seems to be in order. The tick size is set up to be 1/16". I tried to dredge up out of my memory the autocad variables that mess with the size of the archtectural ticks like "dimasz" and "dimblk", but with no luck.
Currently using Autocad 2013.
