View 7 RepliesWhen I try to place a .docx file in InDesign CS4, nothing happens. I can work around this by changing the .docx file to an .rtf file, but it doens't seem like I should have to do this to place an MSWord text file.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI made a box in Illustrator and Extruded and Beveled it. When I placed it to InDesgin it had lines all around the outside of the box. I also made some circuit looking lines in Illustrator then opened it in Photoshop and Beveled and Embossed it, when I placed it in InDesign all of the diagonal lines were blurry. The image was rasterized when I opened it in Photoshop but the resolution is 300 ppi. I have my settings in InDesign set to High Quality and I have tried exporting my file as a PDF but then imperfections are still there.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm working on designs in Illustrator and preparing an InDesign document with all of the graphics in one file for the client to review. The artboards are set to the size of a pier sign that will be all wood, but there are left graphics on the wood that will be laser cut and these extend beyond the edge of the wood. When I place the separate artboards in InDesign, they are cropped to the edge and I'd like to show how the left graphics extend beyond it. I've tried different import options but none of them show beyond the trim. (Also, if it makes a difference, the artboard sizes are fairly large—about 60" wide)

Having issues placing an Ai (eps) file in Photoshop and InDesign and retaining the original appearance. For some reason the graphic is inserting outlines arournd portions of the graphic, but only when placed. If I open in Ai and copy + paste into Photoshop it looks fine. Copy + paste into Id however does not...
I've discovered I can re-create this appearance in Ai by selecting the image and clicking 'Object > Flatten Transparency'.
I've instered a screen capture below to give you an idea of what I mean. I think it has something to do with some of the 'Stylize' effects I'm using. There is a subtle drop shadow and feathered gradient in the graphic.
I'm doing a print photo book layout in InDesign using photos that I am processing in Lightroom 4 & Photoshop CS6. My question is, do I need to "File > Export" the files from Lightroom before placing them into InDesign? Or are the Lightroom final changes I make embedded in the .tif file?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using version CS6, I would like to know if there is an easy way to import a MS word document into InDesign. The document is about 1000 pages and contains text, images and tables.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a lot of engineering data, dimensions, etc, to enter into an existing IDCS6 Table. I need whole numbers to display full size, but fractions to be small size. I know I can use Open Type and select the Fractions option for each individual fraction, but that would take forever.
How do I create a style (or whatever) that will allow me to just type in the numbers and have them automatically apply small formatting to the fraction portion of the number whenever it sees a "/"?
Along a similar line, I was trying to copy table data from a PDF document from Acrobat X Pro and paste that into an IDCS6 table, so each cell is populated by the appropriate cell data from the PDF file, but didn't have any success. That would really save me a lot of time, because I have many complete tables in PDF format. The data is not protected in the PDF, but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to bring it over to IDCS6.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to add a county wide 3m dem into C3D 2012 with no success. My goal is to be able to open a drawing, zoom into a small section of the county and instantly have an accurate surface to look at. I realize this is an extremely large file with over 450 million points but I was hoping that if I set the surface to "no display" then created a boundary around the work area before turning the surface on it might work. However, I can't even get the dem to load without crashing the computer. I've also tried adding a data clip boundary to the surface then adding the dem. This worked but was extremely slow loading defeating the purpose. Is there another method used for adding a dem as large as this to a surface?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a fairly new Panasonic Lumix LX5. I've recently converted a few files to DNG. They're turning out to be @ 37MB, over three times larger than the original file.
I'm not embedding the original raw files in the DNG. NEF files I convert from my Nikon D2x are around 9.5MB. I'm running Mac OS 10.5.8, DNG v 6.6 and also use PS CS5.5 and Lightroom 3.0.
I have a friend that is having a hard time saving files as .eps in InDesign, Illistrator and PhotoShop when using a Mac. She is able to create the file and save it so she should have full ownership and read/write rights to the file. Yet when she opens the file, edits it and saves it again, she gets a pop-up stating "Cannot save the illustration. You do not have enough access privileges - ID 5000". The user is the owner of the file. How would she not have access privileges? When she saves the file as an .ai, pdf, or jpg, there is no problem. She also has no problem saving the file on a Windows PC.

An associate is trying to open a 60,000 x 60,000 tiff file using PS CS5.1-Extended on a windows 7 platform with 6G RAM.
He gets the error message "Photoshop can only decode JPEG encoded images up to 32767 pixels wide of tall."
I suggested that he might have a jpeg whose extension got changed to tiff. He says no, it's a tiff, and besides how would one generate a jpeg that size.
In working with slightly more complex curve shapes in CorelDraw X5, I'm discovering when using the contour option it results in an error ("Contour Offset too large"). This was not experienced in CorelDraw 9 at all. I'm experiencing this error with inside or outside contours, steps at 1, offset at 0.1. Reducing nodes eventually will allow the contour to be successful. However, it takes an extreme reduction of nodes which distorts the shape a lot.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running into an issue when conducting an XML Merge. The situation:
- Document has been structured using tags so that it could be exported to XML
- The XML document was then translated by professional translators into Russian from English
- All XML tags in English/Russian version are the same, no XML has changed
- XML Merge is conducted and all content is placed into the the InDesign document and the English/Russian content both has the proper tags selected
- Russian content however, does not include any special characters such as line breaks, or spaces. This is causing Paragraph Styles to be wrong, and essentially the whole document is formatted incorrectly
The Question:
- How can you include special/hidden characters such as line breaks into the original XML Export? I keep getting the error "Content contains characters that can not be encoded"
- If line breaks are included and are inserted into XML, when I conduct the XML Merge will InDesign recognize these codes/characters that are between the XML Tags?
When I try to package a file with a lot of links, the Indesign CC packaging process fails with the error message "Unable to copy necessary file(s)". I am able to make a PDF of the same file, but when packaking the process fails every time. The app does not crash, just gives an error message. What gives?
