View 1 Replies View RelatedWhat is the best way to share dwg files so taht stuff doesnt get messed up? The designer says taht civil3D now uses something call dat references, this is new to me since ive been out the game for a couple years, how do you send those files? are they within the drawing?
Basically here is my problem, the designer does all the design, plan and profile, than he sends to me to put in the notes for the plan views, not knowing if when I save the file it will mess up his profile, he jsut copy pasted the notes I put in into his original file, as oppose to jsut overriding it. So in essence we are doing double work..
another thing, he sent me the proposed base file, and when I got it I got big text saying that there is a broken reference. I went ahead and made some changes and sent back to him thinking it would go away cause it will find the reference on his computer, but it didnt. And than he said that the drawing I sent him didnt have any settings under "toolspace" like his original did.
I'm using 2012 autocad architecture. I would like to know ASAP if there is a safe way to share my autocad drawings with a specific autocad user that completely locks the files so they can not be modified, saved as something else and opened, or otherwise compromised. I have a client that wants copies in autocad of the drawing files. But I don't see a good way to lock them that is fool proof, and am not sure what such a question would be listed under in the help index. Is there a way of saving them that can keep them un-modifiable?

View 4 Replies View RelatedWe do not use VAULT. We're using network shared folder with 3 machine.
In some cases three users opening same assembly and sub assemblies. In this case Inventor showing us an error like "You can not save file. Use save-as" But in this case it's impossible to work share files.
We're opening / using same project file (ipj). I remember that older versions of Inventor give us to chance that not save some subassemblies of main assembly. In this case you may save newer version of assembly files..
How can I share network folder to share my assembly files with the other colleagues?
Using Inventor 2013 and not Vault. Because we're using Linux file server .
I am trying to share documents with outside vendors using the Autodesk Cloud services. I have successfully uploaded files but, out of the six people I have shared the files with, only 3 of them can actually see the files.
My question is this: If I send an invitation to view the shared document to a person whose e-mail address is, "john.smith@HisEmail.com" does John have to use that exact e-mail as his official user name when registering with the Cloud or can he use any user name he wants to?
I am trying to share an assembly with some design accelerators and content center files and it seems to be not possible. I changed the directory of the application>file>content center to the same location on both PC but it is still not working.

C3D - 2014,
We just upgraded our old DJ4000 to a T2300 and are having a devil of a time getting the PC3 files to work. We have about 40 CAD users and the PC3s are all on a shared network location.
[URL]
We tried using the 5500 and 4020 drivers but they did not work for us.
It looks like we are now faced with deploying 30+ PC3s to 40+ computers. What a HUGE pain in the you-know-what that will be. All of the PMP will have to be repathed.
What was HP thinking? That the T2300 -- or, if the above-referenced thread is accurate, ANY of their plotters -- are not suitable for use in companies that have more than one or two users?
Can users with a 64 bit computer share pc3's and pmp's with 32 bit users without adverse effects?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am a CC member. I have Indesign on my mac note book and my PC desktop. There is a compatibility issue between them. The mac version appears to be still ver 8.0.2 while the PC version has upgraded to ver 9.2 and the mac wont open files from the PC. This sort of defeats the whole purpose of joining CC, which was compatibility between all our machines at work. When the mac CC version 9.2 of indesign will release and any work arounds. I know about saving as the idml thing but it is so clumsy. We want to be flicking the documnet back and forth.

Are you able to open Indesign files in CS3?
I am considering upgrading.
I work in InDesign and create documents which often has a lot of illustrator filesin them. Everything seems to work ok and I definitely prefer to put in vector graphics then raster them, however when it comes to creating a PDF of the document it end up being massive. I think it has something to do with the illustrator files that I place into InDesign, but I'm not sure how to make the illustrator files reduce in size when it comes to PDF-ing them from InDesign.
Is there any simple tricks when saving the illustrator file? Would it be better to save them as PDF's? Or does that not make any difference?
Just today, Indesign has decided not to save certain files. Also not remember undos, and weirdly not reshape/resize text boxes when manipulated.Have trashed preferences, but to no avail.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI currently have my preflight set up to detect Overprint errors. When they pop up, I'm usually able to either fix it directly in InDesign from the Attributes panel or modify the source eps in Illustrator. However, I am running into a situation on this particular file in which I am getting Overprint errors on linked TIF files. It's not letting me change it from within the Attributes panel of InDesign or from Illustrator. What can I do to get rid of these Overprinting errors?

I am taking a long shot at this because I know its possible, but I cant seem to figure out how to do it. My problem is that I have a lot of resturants clients who have different menu (take out, dine in, delivery) that contain the same items over and over agian. Problem is that if there is a change in one you have to manually change it in other menus. I am wondering if there is a way to setup these menus where you change the text in one file (doc, txt, rft, incopy or whatever)? BUT the tricky part is that, each of these files have its own indepdent text & paragraph styles and that cant be disturb by the edits.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just downloaded InDesign. I have been getting away with using Pages on my Mac but I need bleeds and crop marks now and thus need InDesign. I have produced a brochure on Pages and it's ready to go. In the past I was able to use Adobe Reader or some other export to produce crop-marks for print ready material but it has all changed so I am forced to us InDesign. I will (eventually) train on this properly, but in the meantime I have time sensitive material. Is there a way to export my Pages document to InDesign? I tried to do a .pdf but the import into InDesign came up really bad (pixeled etc.) OR am I doomed to redo the whole project?

Now I would like to submit the following question: I have made several attempts to get my Autocad drawings into Adobe InDesign, but the results are highly unsatisfying. I suppose that the EPS format is the right way to do it, but the results I get when I open the EPS files in InDesign are very poor (no sharp lines etc.)

View 8 Replies View RelatedI've been told that I shouldn't edit Adobe product files directly off of a server. At my previous job we did have problems with files becoming corrupted (inDesign in particular) when we used this editing method, so we were told to edit the files locally and then resave onto the server. However, at my new job, the IT department is a bit more savvy and I have yet to see many hiccups with our server. Other employees work directly off of the server and don't seem to have any real problems. What are the pros and cons to working directly off the server and working locally then resaving?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI made a box in Illustrator and Extruded and Beveled it. When I placed it to InDesgin it had lines all around the outside of the box. I also made some circuit looking lines in Illustrator then opened it in Photoshop and Beveled and Embossed it, when I placed it in InDesign all of the diagonal lines were blurry. The image was rasterized when I opened it in Photoshop but the resolution is 300 ppi. I have my settings in InDesign set to High Quality and I have tried exporting my file as a PDF but then imperfections are still there.
