View 5 RepliesI've recently started using Lightroom 4 and was dissapointed that I was unable to share my catalog across Windows and OSX like I've been able to with LR2 and 3. Has the file structure changed in any way? I primarily use a Windows computer at home, but when I'm on the go, I have a MacBook Pro with that Mac version of LR4. All of my photos and catalogs are stored on an external USB 3.0 HDD. Though loading up the catalog on a Mac shows all of my folders as question marks. It seems that Windows reads the drive as a letter designator, ex. D: and OSX reads it as a volume. Used to before this wasn't a problem. Any different way I can get this to work specifically with this program. I am already aware that I can just load Boot Camp onto my mac and run it that way.

View 7 Replies View Relatedhaving this problem with PSE11 in Windows 8! In sharing preferences, I am only given one option -- Adobe mail. And it won't work. I've used that service before on my work computer running PSE9 and Windows XP. Why don't I get the Windows Mail option? What good is it anyway, sitting there on the start screen and seems to be unavailable otherwise -- I'm usually working from my desktop. I dual boot to Windows XP and have Office 2003 installed there and am able to email photos via Outlook (not express) -- works good. Unfortunately, Office 2003 is not compatible with Win 8 64bit. What do I do now? I saw the tip about downloading and installing Windows Live Mail for Win 7. I thought it was built into Windows 8? Arguablly Windows 8 is a goofy operating system, at least for desktop PCs!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just started out using Lightroom 4 for managing family photos. What I want to do is to share the LR catalog so that my kids and wife can access the database from their own accounts. I tried sharing the directory with the catalog and all the photos. But when I open lightroom from my kids's account, I keep getting an "unexpected error openning the catalog".
I am using Windows 8, 64bit
The catalog was created in my account (adminstrator)
the other accounts are normal accounts
I have searched around but all the questions ask about sharing on network drives. But I just want to share the catalog on the same machine on local harddrive. I made sure that all the other lightrooms are closed in the other accounts (everyone else is signed off) before I tried to open it from my kid's account.
What is the best way to share dwg files so taht stuff doesnt get messed up? The designer says taht civil3D now uses something call dat references, this is new to me since ive been out the game for a couple years, how do you send those files? are they within the drawing?
Basically here is my problem, the designer does all the design, plan and profile, than he sends to me to put in the notes for the plan views, not knowing if when I save the file it will mess up his profile, he jsut copy pasted the notes I put in into his original file, as oppose to jsut overriding it. So in essence we are doing double work..
another thing, he sent me the proposed base file, and when I got it I got big text saying that there is a broken reference. I went ahead and made some changes and sent back to him thinking it would go away cause it will find the reference on his computer, but it didnt. And than he said that the drawing I sent him didnt have any settings under "toolspace" like his original did.
I'm using 2012 autocad architecture. I would like to know ASAP if there is a safe way to share my autocad drawings with a specific autocad user that completely locks the files so they can not be modified, saved as something else and opened, or otherwise compromised. I have a client that wants copies in autocad of the drawing files. But I don't see a good way to lock them that is fool proof, and am not sure what such a question would be listed under in the help index. Is there a way of saving them that can keep them un-modifiable?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWe do not use VAULT. We're using network shared folder with 3 machine.
In some cases three users opening same assembly and sub assemblies. In this case Inventor showing us an error like "You can not save file. Use save-as" But in this case it's impossible to work share files.
We're opening / using same project file (ipj). I remember that older versions of Inventor give us to chance that not save some subassemblies of main assembly. In this case you may save newer version of assembly files..
How can I share network folder to share my assembly files with the other colleagues?
Using Inventor 2013 and not Vault. Because we're using Linux file server .
I am trying to share documents with outside vendors using the Autodesk Cloud services. I have successfully uploaded files but, out of the six people I have shared the files with, only 3 of them can actually see the files.
My question is this: If I send an invitation to view the shared document to a person whose e-mail address is, "john.smith@HisEmail.com" does John have to use that exact e-mail as his official user name when registering with the Cloud or can he use any user name he wants to?
I am trying to share an assembly with some design accelerators and content center files and it seems to be not possible. I changed the directory of the application>file>content center to the same location on both PC but it is still not working.

We just upgraded our old DJ4000 to a T2300 and are having a devil of a time getting the PC3 files to work. We have about 40 CAD users and the PC3s are all on a shared network location.
[URL]
We tried using the 5500 and 4020 drivers but they did not work for us.
It looks like we are now faced with deploying 30+ PC3s to 40+ computers. What a HUGE pain in the you-know-what that will be. All of the PMP will have to be repathed.
What was HP thinking? That the T2300 -- or, if the above-referenced thread is accurate, ANY of their plotters -- are not suitable for use in companies that have more than one or two users?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been doing some research on new computers for the office and my boss came to me about potentially switching from Windows OS to Mac OS. In my opinion I'm ok with whatever OS we use but I don't know much about MAC Computers. I have done some research on them and have read of customers using Inventor 2012 on Macs but that’s the extent of it.
1) Are there any issues that you've seen when running Boot Camp or Parallels and which do you think is user friendly.
2) How well are you able to transfer files from a MAC PC to a Windows PC then vise versa? (Taking work home etc.)
3) Have you had any problems transferring your library of information from Vault over to a Mac? (Checking in and out of Vault)
4) Our company use's DXF's made from Flat patterns that we transfer over to a Salvagnini machines that use's windows.
Can you import files from autocad windows 7 (using mac w/ bootcamp or parallels) to sketch-up and photoshop on Mac os x 10.8.5? If so, what is the easiest way to do so? Also, would Parallels or Bootcamp be better for going between the operating systems?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've recently installed AutoCAD LT 2007 on a new computer running Windws 7 64 bit. I've been able to modify/customize everything except my .pgp files.
I've found them under C:/Program Files (x86)/AutoCAD LT 2007/User Data Cache/Support/acadlt. Once I've gone through and made my changes, and attempt to "X" out of the dialog box, I'm prompted to "Save" changes. I choose "Save" and am then told the "acadlt.pgp already exists. Would you like to replace it?". I select "Yes", and am then told "Access Denied"...with none of my changes being saved.
I've learned about an "unsanctioned" workaround...running a "run as XP" patch, but I'm having trouble finding out details/feasability of this solution. Additionally, I'm curious if I go this route, will all my programs now run as if on XP?
We are running Autocad 2012 (64 bit) on Windows 7. how to get Windows Explorer to search for text inside of DWG files?
View 9 Replies View Related I click the Inventor icon on the desktop to open Inventor, I click the Vault tab and then click "Go to Vault", the vault opens. I open a file to look/modify it. I then click another file to open it also and it opens in a new Inventor window. The same as windows explorer does when you open another web page and it opens in a new window instead of a new tab if you dont have the "Tabbed Browsing: set in options.
I am running Inventor Professional 2012.
We have Win 7 clients connecting to a SBS 2003 server. When using files marked as "make available offline" the computer status shows as being offline when the file listed as needing to be synced. This is when the laptops are connected to the network. This makes the file unavailable to other users. They do not even appear in a directory listing. If they do a Save As, that file appears immediately. This is only happening with the Autocad files. MS Office files work just fine. How can I make the laptops realize that they are online and connected to the server? I read about transparent caching but that seems to be available only on server 2008.

We would like to be able to store all of our drawings on the Autodesk 360 cloud but have two users in different locations and want to share a common account. We already have two separate accounts with our 2004LT but that requires each of us to set up sharing for the other, notification, etc. If we purchase two seats of 2013 AutoCAD LT can we both use the automatic save (to 360) with the same account user name and password? 25GB of storage with one subscription is plenty for our needs but the main objective is that all of our files would be in the same account and there wouldn't be any chance of us having slightly different versions of the same file in two different accounts.
If one guy is logged into the account will that prevent the other from gaining access until the first one signs off? I saw something on Autodesk's site saying they were working on being able to combine cloud units but they don't have it yet. I don't know if this would also allow combining separate subscriptions?
I need to send a drawing to a client but don't want them to be able to edit it, but want them to be able to xref into their drawings.
I have added the dwg to autodesk 360 but it does not show any of the xref files (it has 8 and they are necessary).
I cant seem to work out how to DWF, can you save as dwf in infinite model space or does it always come out as a layout? I would like if I could save it as a dwf and for it to function like a dwg in model space.
I recently posted a thread about using the Filter command. I wanted to filter all polylines with heights of 50m intervals.
I got that done. I was also able to save the Filter that I had created with a name.
How can I share a filter that I have saved with other users?
or is it even possible?
At my company we currently have a huge number of Autocad deployments for 2010,2011,2012. Right now our deployments weren't setup to include the content centers. I have installed 2012 Inventor on my personal computer as a trial version to grab the .idcl files. I was wondering if I would be able to just drag and drop these onto a server and have my co-workers point to the file location within inventor itself via options>content center>etc.
