AutoCAD Map 3D :: Drawing Disappears After Opening Second Drawing In 3D 2012?

Mar 23, 2013

I have two drawings A and B. I work in A and I need some design elements from B.

When I open the drawing B everything I have in drawing A disappeared. I refer to all elements of design (blocks, lines, polylines, etc.).

After studying the issue have concluded that the design of all elements were automatically isolated. Right click> Isolate> End Object Isolation and everything reappears in drawing A.

I mention that I installed Autocad Map 3D 2012 x64 on Windows 7 x64 and work in Map Classic Workspace using the same coordinate system in both drawings.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Opening Drawing In 2013 And Drawing View Changes?

Nov 28, 2012

Recently upgraded to Civil 3D 2013 and drawings opened up fine.  Now today any drawing that opens shows the plan view as last saved but then after loading takes the drawing and shifts it into a 3d view similar to a crossection.  Is there a setting somewhere that has been changed?  I noticed after a windows 7 update was preformed.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Cursor Disappears Only On Drawing Window

May 3, 2012

All of a sudden my cursor will become invisible. This happens only with AutoCAD. and if I switch between drawing windows it will appear on another drawing file. I have to close the drawing and open it again and then the cursor will be back only to disappear again. The cursor is visible if I move it back to the ribbon or bottom controls. It seems to happen only when it becomes the cross-hair cursor. I can still make selection windows and right click.

Mouse is working fine with all other programs and drivers are up-to-date.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: When Copying Or Editing Dynamic Blocks Drawing Disappears

May 24, 2012

Drawing disappear after using a dynamic block's stretch parameter?

I’ve made fairly simple dynamic blocks with lines or leaders that can be stretched and some attribute text.  After moving the stretch grip of the block the block will disappear.  If I then do a regen the entire drawing disappears.  But it seems to be only a graphical glitch based on the fact that I can then save the disappeared drawing, reopen it and everything is up to date.  I can even see my devious little dynamic blocks.  But of course if I try to edit them everything will disappear again.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Applied Material Disappears From Part Of Block When Inserted Into Drawing

Aug 9, 2013

I have a library of blocks that I built for our company to use.  We recently upgraded from 2013 to 2014 and boy did it throw our library for a loop!

There is a check box (reflectivity) that leaves the materials black when the drawing shade mode is changed to Realistic (unless you go in and uncheck the reflectivity box) and while I have figured out how to alleviate that issue (by unchecking it on our tempate and saving it) I am still having a materials issue with our blocks.

I can open the block (and turn on Realistic mode) and all the pieces have their materials like they should.  I then open a new drawing and insert the same block into the drawing .. one piece is sans material.

I cannot for the life of me figure out why it's there on one drawing but it gone when inserted.  The new drawing has been purged and doens't contain anything it shouldn't.

Document Manager.Open(filepath); What is happening is soon as it gets to that line of code AutoCAD either crashes or it has a StackOverflowException.

I've stepped through and before I go to open the file I have double check it is there. Also after AutoCAD crashes if I go to where I wrote the file to and open it that way I can open it by double clicking it.

AutoCAD LT :: 2012 Drawing File Not Valid

Apr 9, 2012

I have a mixed environment where I have some users are opening .dwg files with DWG TrueView 2011 and others with AutoCad LT 2012. I am able to open the file immediately with DWG TrueView 2011, but with AutoCad LT 2012 they display an error message of "Drawing File Not Valid". In order to view the file I need to go into File>Open> Choose the file located on a mapped drive and select "Open Read-Only". Is there a way this can be changed where I can automatically open files as read only? I have changed the permissions to the share to allow full control to a particular user for testing purposes and it appears that the files are not in read only when examining the properties of it.

AutoCad :: Setting For Opening Drawing?

If I'm inside AutoCAD and choose File, Open, etc... then the new drawing opens in the same AutoCAD program. I'd like for that behavior to work if I have AutoCAD already open and I browse my server thru explorer and dbl click a dwg on the server.

Is there a setting that will allow that?

AutoCad :: Opening Drawing Files From CD

Aug 16, 2011

I have an issue with opening my old drawing files (.dwg). I usually make a backup copy of all the drawings I have done and save them according to the project numbers. The drawings I have difficulty opening were done ages ago and backed up on a CD.

When I was trying to open the drawings from the CD, I received error messages saying "cannot find the specified drawing file. Please verify that the file exists". I also noticed that all of those drawing files are of size between 30Mb and 35Mb. So clearly, there is some data in them.

I also tried to do copy and paste from the CD to my local machine but to no avail. It said the file may be corrupted or something. I do not know if this is to do with losing path or what.

Wondering if it was possible to have a .idw drawing automatically update all its copies with any annotation changes. They would all be linked to the same model and would update if the model was altered, but I need only one master drawing whose annotations can be altered. The copies would be read-only, and would be updated when the master changes. Does Inventor have a function like this that links a drawing to its copies?

AutoCAD .NET :: Automating Drawing Creation For Printing - 2012

Jul 31, 2013

My objective is to have a schematic set created from a user input.  I need to automate this such that the user enters numbers and letters from drop menus, (part number is alpha-numeric, each representing voltage, horsepower, motor count, etc,) and have the drawing set created.  Reading up on this, I know I still could use VBA, but as that is going to fade into non-existence soon, replaced by .net, I would love to go ahead and create it using .net. I really know nothing about it, but need to learn.  I can find lots of books on visual studio, but somehow I need to know how to interface it with ACAD at the same time!

AutoCAD LT :: Objects Disappearing When Opening The Drawing

Dec 13, 2013

we are having a problem here at our office. this revolves around one file. When I open the file, some objects (text, hatch, lines - all different layers) disappear. This happens before any command is made, and the object that disappear are on layers that are active and not frozen on all viewports. Also, the rest of the objects on the layer are visable.  Other objects on these layers are visable, and the objects that disappeared are not visable on the model space or paper space. On top of that, when someone else opens the file, different objects turn invisable, and they can see the things I cant. The drawing takes about 5+ mins to load, dispite it being not a very large file. I tried purging unused items, reconciling layers, unhiding everything, freezing and unfreezing all layers and restarting autocad.

Coincidentaly  the x-ref dwg is having a very similar issue.
