For instance I have a layer called wall the colour is black. I draw a rectangle 1200 square. I then switch to window layer which the colour is red, I copy my window 1200 square from my library and then move it and place into my wall, the window now covers the wall layer, what i want is the wall layer showing over the window, how do I do this.
View 3 RepliesI have tried turning off all the other layers, selecting everything visible, invoking DRAWORDER, and selecting "front", but when I turn the other layers back on, some of them are still in front of what I want to be visible. It's a big document with a bazillion objects and 20+ layers; going through and selecting every one of them individually could take hours.

PaintLayerImporter() and it takes 4 parameters. They are:
1) const QString &sFileName, ///< Name of the file to import
2) int iFileTypeIndex, < Index of the type of the file in the array returned by SupportedExtensions
3) Mesh *pMesh, ///< Mesh which contains the paint layer
4) TexturePool *pTarget ///< Destination of the import operation
But I'm not able to get this function to work. Any small example how to use it.
I think that main problem for me is that I don't know exactly what 2) parameter means(int iFileTypeIndex). It says that you get that from SupportedExtensions but When I look at it:
virtual QVector<FileExtension> SupportedExtensions( void );
It surely dosen't look int.
Are you able to bring a text layer from Illustrator into Photoshop and keep it as a text layer? How is this done?

I can bring them back by doing something like clicking on the text tool and then clicking on a text item on the stage. It's annoying because it takes a couple of clicks for the palette(s) to redisplay.
Is this a bug or is there a setting in preferences that can control this?

I'm guessing the function is working its is just that the dialog box is poping up somewhere out of view of the monitors, forgot to mention it is a 2 monitor set up.

Problem is, most of my work is in model space (different aspect of this drawing), and although I could pull the objects through to the paperspace tab, it just wouldn't be the way I feel it should be (3d objects should stay in model space imo). However, for the most part I don't need to see it in model space (except for checking 3d elevations of line segments), the finish product is a printed 2d top view.

I want to bring these together on top of each other to form the complete picture, but I'm not sure how to accomplish this in an easy way. If it was a one time thing I would just use the Move command, but the goal is also for the combined picture to be updated as the separate drawings are changed - not realtime - but maybe in some x-ref kinda way.
The whole thing would be easy if the separate drawings were also separate files, but as they are not I'm not sure how to solve it...

I have two layers. The lower layer is text. The upper layer is a pattern. I want to show the pattern on the text only, but do not want to show any of the text color (pattern is black, so is text). How can I accomlish this?
Currently I tried to apply the text layer as a clipping mask for the pattern layer but the text color shows through.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI cannot get an added layer to show slightly transparent. I like the effect of bringing the main layer to the front and having most of the focus there with a slightly transparent layer for text, etc. Every time I try to use the transparent/opaque slider in the layer panel, it does nothing until I cross the 50% threshold and then the layer just disappears if I go below 50%. I originally had a .gif, but I tried saving it as .png, and .xcf (gimp file) and it still would not work.
Interestingly, I tried it on another .png I had and it worked.Why would it not work sometimes and then work other times? I have attached an example file. I wam trying to make the new layer with text slight transparent.

Every time I try to add a layer style, it doesn't show up. No matter the size or opacity, shadow, glow or stroke, even tried opening a new file to try, and it doesn't work. It worked fine 2 days ago.
