I remember reading a while ago about being able to select the layer you want and have everything on that layer brought to the front for ease of editing, however i can't remember the command name.
View 9 RepliesI have tried turning off all the other layers, selecting everything visible, invoking DRAWORDER, and selecting "front", but when I turn the other layers back on, some of them are still in front of what I want to be visible. It's a big document with a bazillion objects and 20+ layers; going through and selecting every one of them individually could take hours.

View 2 Replies View Related I am having a problem with dimensions and making them opaque. I want to use "Bring to Front" to solve it, but Revit does not give me this option.
To detail out my problem: I have a dim style style setup to make dimesion text mask out objects behind it. The problem we are having is that if I draw one dimension, then draw a second dimenion that is over top of the first dim's text the second's extension line is not hidden behind the text. If I delete the first text and redraw it, it will then hide the second dim's extension line. The proper solution is to use "Bring to Front" to fix it. But Revit is not giving me this option. I am using 2011 right now. Has this been fixed in newer versions of Revit, or did the programmers never figure we would need to do that?
I installed GIMP onto my laptop. What I want to know how to do is to bring the image I'm working on in front of the toolbar windows. I thought I remember reading that you can change a setting but I couldn't find it when I looked in Preferences.
View 3 Replies View Relatedon my Windows 7 home computer I am able to create UI progress bars and popup messages for my UI window and everything works just fine. Now, I come to work on the Macintosh and they don't work so well. In this question, I would like to learn if there is a technique to bring a palette to the front when one is created, such as for this progress bar example, on a Mac. The palette appears deactivated and in back for me. It is unseen most of the time because it appears in the center of the screen behind the window by default, and when I move my window we can see the palette but there is no progress bar going on.
As you can see in the screenshot, my main window is deactivated because I attempted to get the progress bar active by deactivating the main window, obviously not successful. I also set the palette to active, which did not work.And, as I have implied, on my home computer on Windows things appear just as expected with the progress bar working and palettes appearing in front and active.

We upgraded to AutoCAD Mechanical 2012 (from AutoCAD Mechanical 2009).
I used to go: TOOLS > DRAWING ORDER, in order to bring an object to the back or the front of another object.
Now that we are using AM 2012, I can't find where this command is located.
Is it possible to bring hatch above all the other objects and cover everything there is below? Even if I go from hatch edit to draw order and bring it to fornt the elements below hatch are still visible also transparency is "by layer" and is set to 0

I then switch to window layer which the colour is red, I copy my window 1200 square from my library and then move it and place into my wall, the window now covers the wall layer, what i want is the wall layer showing over the window, how do I do this.

I will copy my selected layers and then want to paste them in place on the selected artboard next to it and often times it pastes it back on the artboard where it copies from. Sometimes the function does what I want, but often times it pastes in a different location, either on the same artboard, or next to the artboard where I want it pasted. It also tends to slightly move the X and Y values (again, sometimes). Each time I go to paste, I am creating a new layer and selecting the artboard where I want everything pasted, but sometimes it works, and other times it doesn't. I am using CS5 on MacBook Pro.

The printed A1 page reflects the 'Print Preview' image.Objects are 3D solids, with clipped images positioned on the front of them.It was quicker that way, rather than ripping my hair out after trying to tile in a program without any UVW modifiers.It's like the printed viewport reverts to parallel projection, while I want it to be in perspective projection instead.
Is there anyway that I can assign a layer to be always in the front/on top of all other layers in draw order?

PaintLayerImporter() and it takes 4 parameters. They are:
1) const QString &sFileName, ///< Name of the file to import
2) int iFileTypeIndex, < Index of the type of the file in the array returned by SupportedExtensions
3) Mesh *pMesh, ///< Mesh which contains the paint layer
4) TexturePool *pTarget ///< Destination of the import operation
But I'm not able to get this function to work. Any small example how to use it.
I think that main problem for me is that I don't know exactly what 2) parameter means(int iFileTypeIndex). It says that you get that from SupportedExtensions but When I look at it:

It surely dosen't look int.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhat i'm trying to do is cut multiple circles in half (45° angle), i know that i need first "outline stroke" to make the circle lines into object (i think it's called). I have used "offset path" to get more of these lines.
I was told that if i want to cut the other half of the circle i need to use pathfinder, but everytime i use the "minus front" option, it leaves me with only on half circle while i mad 2 circles, the second circle disapppeard. How can i cut both circles in one go. (is there a way to combine these circles (not grouping))
When i click on the green line has you can see on the image. The layer toolbar wont show me the right layer, like if it's not working. But i can see the right layer inside propreties.
Is there a system variable to ajust to see my layers inside the Layer tool bar?
I'm having issues with Civ3d 2013. I pushed off upgrading from 2012 because of the format change and the service pack release. I was hoping little glitches would be fixed.
Here are the a couple of glitches to date that I have seen no resolution to in the long list of threads.
1. Layer filters do not filter, unless I have checked "Apply filter to toolbar". The problem is, I dont want to apply them to the toolbar.
2. Publishing to PDF - when set to lines merge (set in the page layout and the publish setting), the wipeouts dont work, and the background masks on leaders makes a faint border around the text in the PDF. When set to overwrite, to get the wipeouts to not print to the PDF as a big black blob, they have to be on a layer set to color 255. I can work around most of the wipeouts, except for dimensions because the background mask doesn't seem to take.
I constantly run into the problem that I have many objects and when I want to drag the selected object to move it around, the object laying in front / or on top of it will be grabbed and moved instead. How do I shortcutwise avoid to pick an unwanted object when I'm about to drag an object ? Is there something like a key to hold, so that Illustrator understands that I want to move the already selected object only ? Since that is a 100 times per day task and I can't always lock and unlock all other layer I'm working on too ... well I could, but that would slow down working 100 times since it's not easy to identify / switch on of each layer in the layer list each time i pick another object ...

I can bring them back by doing something like clicking on the text tool and then clicking on a text item on the stage. It's annoying because it takes a couple of clicks for the palette(s) to redisplay.
Is this a bug or is there a setting in preferences that can control this?
Is there any way to have a user select entities and then save that selection for later use not only in the current drawing session but also for later retrieval in another completely new session and even by someone else? I anticipate the need to save the data out to an external file/database but I am not sure what to save out as I believ the object ids are session dependent.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am running autocadlt and opening up a very detailed drawing by an architect which was likely drawn on the most recent version of the autocad. When i go to select a certain area of the plan, elevation views appear in the background as i drag my selection with the mouse. The elevation views are not visible in the plan in the model space. All layers are on and unfrozen.
I am a surveyor and am trying to import the plan into my survey program (which only accepts files in autocad 2007 or earlier anyway). When I open the file in the survey program, for some reason the elevation views are showing and can not be turned off.
I tried to use the command erase, then "all" it tells me "2891 objects found, 19 not in current space". Does that have anything to do with it?
I have gone into the layer manager and selected all the layers and turned them on, and have unfrozen them
Did the proxygraphics command as well
Could it be because autocadlt???
When working with large plant layouts I sometimes need to copy may things from different parts of the plant. Some large some small. When I zoom in to select the smaller objects i have lost lots of objects that were selected before.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have several .dwg files that I use as templates. I run find and replace VBA routines on the template .dwg files, ie find $Flavor$ and replace it with "Grape", and then I save the .dwg to another directory with a new name.
These VBA routines work well for acdbText and acdbMText objects, but I have a bunch of AcdbAttributeDefinition objects in the .dwg templates as well.
After much research about the AutoCAD object model (I'm mostly a Microsoft Access VBA programmer), I have come to understand that these AcdbAttributeDefinition objects are actually "remnants" of a block that no longer exists in the drawing.
Anyway, I'd like to convert all of these orphaned AcdbAttributeDefinition objects to acdbText objects in the templates and then delete the AcdbAttributeDefinition objects. I have some code that does just that.
However, the issue that I am having with the code is that the newly created acdbText objects are not on the same layer that the original AcdbAttributeDefinition objects were on. I don't know the syntax to identify what layer the AcdbAttributeDefinition object is on or how to specify what layer on which the acdbText object is created.
how to keep the acdbText objects on the same layers as the original AcdbAttributeDefinition objects during the conversion and deletion process?

Or if not, is there maybe a script-fu that copies and merges a selected layer over every other individual layer automatically, without messing them up?
I know I'll probably have to just end up manually adding it to each layer, (so many layers...).
