When working with large plant layouts I sometimes need to copy may things from different parts of the plant. Some large some small. When I zoom in to select the smaller objects i have lost lots of objects that were selected before.

Whenever I click on the "show transform controls" under the move tool, the whole photograph I am working on disappears and I am left with the gray background. When I click it off, the image returns.
View 13 Replies View Relatedwe are having a problem here at our office. this revolves around one file. When I open the file, some objects (text, hatch, lines - all different layers) disappear. This happens before any command is made, and the object that disappear are on layers that are active and not frozen on all viewports. Also, the rest of the objects on the layer are visable. Other objects on these layers are visable, and the objects that disappeared are not visable on the model space or paper space. On top of that, when someone else opens the file, different objects turn invisable, and they can see the things I cant. The drawing takes about 5+ mins to load, dispite it being not a very large file. I tried purging unused items, reconciling layers, unhiding everything, freezing and unfreezing all layers and restarting autocad.
Coincidentaly the x-ref dwg is having a very similar issue.
I am using 2010 and when I am on my sheet or viewing my database through a viewport annotative objects tend to disappear and it happens randomly. It's only a few objects that will disappear while others are shown.
Example: My grid bubbles may disappear, but leaders, text, dimensions, etc are visible.
Another example is door or window tags may disappear while grid, leaders, etc are all shown and when they don't show up they also don't print. Reloading the xref doesn't bring them back also. I have to physically go into the database and make some kind of change (erase a line and than undo; draw a line and than delete it; change a scale, anything); save the drawing and then go to my sheet and reload the xref to get them to come back.
Using 2010 with update 1 or whatever it's called these days, I'll just call it the first fix.
I've made three grading objects using "Grade to Relative Elevation" along a feature line. Then I've added a grading transition between them. This seems really unstable now, like making the wrong move makes the whole thing disappear...but what is strange is the feature line that is attached to the grading object that I have added into my surface remains, but there are only a few lines where the grading objects used to be, basically the line that seperates the different sections of grading.
There's no way to edit the grading again either, it has to be remade, because there is nothing to select.

when i make a parent view from model space of 3d objects not all of them will appear in paper space. some times it will only display objects from one layer and other times it will pick and choose. this can also happen when i edit an object in paper space and when i return to paper space objects i was not even editing have disappeared from the view. note this does not always happen, in fact it does not always happen with the same objects.
It does not matter if i open and close AutoCAD the objects will still be gone. This has happened before SP1 but seems to be happening more since the release of it. i can provide a file.
It's not a direct 3D issue or direct X, it's something else. I can see the objects in perspective, front, left, etc, but as soon as I put a camera on it, they disappear. If I move the camera out far from the objects I can see it, but whenever I try to dolly it closer, they disappear again. I tried this camera in another viewport and it works fine, so it seems to be something with this particular viewport.

I anticipate the need to save the data out to an external file/database but I am not sure what to save out as I believ the object ids are session dependent.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am running autocadlt and opening up a very detailed drawing by an architect which was likely drawn on the most recent version of the autocad. When i go to select a certain area of the plan, elevation views appear in the background as i drag my selection with the mouse. The elevation views are not visible in the plan in the model space. All layers are on and unfrozen.
I am a surveyor and am trying to import the plan into my survey program (which only accepts files in autocad 2007 or earlier anyway). When I open the file in the survey program, for some reason the elevation views are showing and can not be turned off.
I tried to use the command erase, then "all" it tells me "2891 objects found, 19 not in current space". Does that have anything to do with it?
I have gone into the layer manager and selected all the layers and turned them on, and have unfrozen them
Did the proxygraphics command as well
Could it be because autocadlt???
After placing an Illustrator file in Photoshop as a Smart Object, then double-clicking the object in Photoshop to edit it, the only swatches that remain in the Swatches panel are global ones. All the other swatches have been removed. (This is with the embedded file that opens; the original is unaffected.)
I assume this is by design, but any way of preventing it from happening, other than tediously changing every swatch to global before doing the embedding? And yes, I can always re-load the swatches afterwards, but that's also an extra step I'd like to avoid.
This is all CS6 in Windows 8.1.

When I select objects, I can't get any of the tools to work on the preselected object ( The tools all work if I select the tool first and then select object to apply it to). And I can't change properties such as layer & color of a preselected object.
Also I can't delete a selected object with the keyboard delete key, and I can't bring up the MultiLine text editor with the usual double click of a text object.
It doesn't sound like a simple command reset as there is too many things involved. Can't find anything on options and drafting settings that is relevant. So it sounds like it might be a total reload of LT?
I used to have a third party plugin that had a "clone" command.
It was like "Add Selcted" & keep matching the properies for more new objects. So new objects would match the layer, linetype, etc.of what was previosly selected Not just the once.
Is there a command like this in ACA 2012 ?
I remember reading a while ago about being able to select the layer you want and have everything on that layer brought to the front for ease of editing, however i can't remember the command name.

View 2 Replies View Relatedoccasionally, after going through some painstaking object selection, I accidentally choose the wrong action, for example, Rotate instead of Scale. This is because I don't always use typed commands, but will use the left-click menu for some actions, and Rotate and Scale are right next to each other (mouse is a bit jittery sometimes - yes, I need a new mouse). Even with simple object selections, it is annoying to have this happen. If I find that I have made the wrong command choice, I simply want to undo the command choice but keep the objects selected. Is there a way to do this besides clearing it all and starting over? Kind of like the OOPS command, but for actions, not erase?
On a related note, if I have several actions I intend to use on the same set of selected objects, I have to re-select them after each one is completed (not always, but this is sometimes true). Is there a quick re-select command that selects the same group of objects I had last selected?

What is the variable that controls the order in which objects are selected? In other words, I want to be able to always select the last object created by default when objects are overlapping without using object cycling.

I have a drawing with many connector labels and pin numbers which are typically arranged as two vertical columns. Each label and/or pin numbers are individual MTEXT objects. The original author did not space them uniformly as an array and I would like to clean it up without having to re-enter it.
How can I select the multiple MTEXT objects and force the spacing between all of them to a desired spacing (say .2") or to have them nudge to the nearest Y grid?
I have tried using the hot grips selection by holding shift, but some of the grips are overlapping and I can only select the top most grip. It is also a slow process because I must click each individual grip that I want to move as a whole. Is there a way of selecting multiple grips at once including grips that are beneath others?

I need a program to move some selected text to a line something like as extend command but for text objects!
suppose that there is a horizental line (y=constant) or vertical line (x=constant) and some selected text(or other objects), I want a lisp program that move these selected text (or objects) by their "insertion point" to this line.
in other word, if the selected base line is horizental (y=constant) then property of "Y" of all selected text should change to line's "Y"; and if selected base line is vertical (x=constant) then value of "X" of all selected text should match to line's "X" value.

I need to export many library elements (conveyors) which are saved in individual blocks to mass objects. I need to convert them to IGES after that.
Until now I have to open every single block and convert all of it to a mass element. This simply takes too long.
