Description or definition of a "Reflective Ceiling Plan" to give to the guys in the shop? Some of them are having a hard time interpreting the drawing and I guess I am not able to communicate it to them properly.
View 6 RepliesI am working in a project where I need to represent the reflecting ceiling edges in the plan view. I put the first floor plan as underlay, and selected the RCP projection but I don't see the dropped ceiling lines to select them with the linework command. I have done every thing possible with the view range but I don't see the lines.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have one of the floors in our building doing something wacky. The 5th floor reflected ceiling plan looks fine so I create detail plans for the suites at a different scale. this new suite blowup has what looks to be the same suite but everything is greyed out and when i switch from coarse detail to fine detail it doesn't do a thing.
The orignal full reflected ceiling plan looks fine. The line are black. The detail swithces back and forth... I can;t figure out what the problem could be. I used the same process on other floor and everyting is OK. The View Ranges are the same and everthing else in the properties seem the same too.
I'm use to working with autocad layers.In AutoCAD if I'm drawing electrical plan and floor plan, HVAC...ect I just freeze in viewport the things I don't want to see for that particurler sheet.
In Revit I duplicated my floor plan to create my electrical plan. I can add my recepticals and switchs but it won't let me add light fixture. Do I add the light fixture to ceiling plan then some how move them to my electrical plan?
How can I move my air vents to the ceiling plan from the floor plan ?

The reflection on the ground made by "XZ Reflective Gp" works in a way that when rendered, it shows a partial or cut reflection of my assembly, see attached .jpg file. I have not found yet where this "reflection depth" is regulated.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to use AutoCAD to render some small parts. I am used to using Inventor Studio, but AutoCad's rendering tools have taken some getting used. to. I have everything figured out, with the exception of the ground plane for shadows and/or reflections.
I originally wanted a ground plane for a shadow to be projected on. However, I had no luck with that, so I modeled a large box under the part. Using that, I am able to get a shadow, or reflection, BUT, the edges of the box are showing in the background. The easy fix is to make the box larger, however, I need the reflective surface and background to be white so that it can be printed on paper without seeing the rendered edges.
How can I set a ground plane, or model a plane, for shadows or reflections, AND made it true white so that the edges cannot be seen?
how to achieve a polished, reflective finish on these machined parts (see attachment)? I've tried all the default materials and even some of my own but can't get the results I want. One factor I can't solve is the location for "advanced" materials in the Create Material pulldown in Materials Browser, this selection is not listed.

i'm guessing this is some sort of plug-in for photoshop or maybe illustrator? i can't imagine anybody taking the time to do this by hand... at first glance it seems like a bevel effect but i can not duplicate it without going through a long process of filters and adjustments. it seems to be some sort of gel effect...

Is there a good way to either tone down or remove the reflective glare that frequently shows up in a photo subject's eyeglasses? I have a number of otherwise nice photos, but the viewer will always see these glare spots first.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm using AutoCAD 2008 and trying to make a smart ceiling grid using the tools palette. The tool runs fine, however my grid doesn't show up in my drawing. I checked all my layers and they're fine. I think my ceiling grid visibility display is turned off.
Any command to turn it on? Checked the product, it gives me options to turn it on/off when it's already visible in a view, but this doesn't work since I can't see it at all.
I tried inserting a ceiling grid, command started fine, usual prompts....enter & no grid.
I switched to the work tab, that has a 3-d view and there is the grid. I cannot find what I did alter its visibility in model space.

I want to add a ceiling grid to my rooms. I am using a hatch to do this. So I draw a polyline around my room and select the hatch net.
My hatch then displays at 600x600 within the room. The only thing I want is for the hatch to start from the center of the room and work outwards. This is so I have a center run of tiles and then they work outwards at 600mm each tile until they reach the outer wall and the last tile will be reduced equally at each side.
Is there an easy way to use space to generate a ceiling grid. My predicament is that when I create a space, the lines show up in Medium Detail and I have to switch to Reflected display configuration to see the grid. But when I am putting in the grid it asks me to choose the space, which is now not visible. Unless I change the display configuratiion, is there a way to pick the space while in the reflected display configuration.
Or better yet, is there a way to create a script that will toggle the space display on and off while in reflected.
is this possible? we want to have our ceilings in separate constructs in order to have two people working at the same time

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently downloaded the trial version of Autocad Architecture 2013. I changed my main customization file to aca.cuix so that I would have the build panel. The build panel is now there, but it is not working. All the icons are questions marks and when I click on the ceiling grid icon it says 'unknown command'. How can I get the ceiling grid function to start working?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create a simple 2x4 ceiling grid hatch for layout planning, but AutoCAD keeps giving me an error when I try to use it.
Here's the custom hatch that I wrote at the very end of the acad.pat file:

When I load up ACAD, it shows the hatch in the selection, but after I've defined the area and I try to apply the hatch, I get this error in the command line:

I have a problem when designing one building in 3d. The thing is i want to create a 3d model made only out of 3d solids. So there is this complex ceiling, I made out of 3 meshes and above it, in the above floor, there's a non complex plate.

This meshes are made based on the actual dimensions of different sides of the floor, are unique and are good approximation of the actual building's ceiling. So, I want to make 3d solid that would have the same bottom shape and the same - even top as in the picture if the space between the objects would be filled out.
I am creating custom linestyles using the mkltype command.The issue I come across is. A simple line is drawn and the linetype is applied to it.
Line type definition. The length of the line before the first shape is set to a specific value, the length after the first shape is the same value (the shape should sit in the middle of the two values if they are equal), but the position varies when the line is stretched to a length anything other than a multiple of the original length.
why this happens and how to force the first shape to stay in the specific value (length from start of line) position.
