View 1 RepliesI have one of the floors in our building doing something wacky. The 5th floor reflected ceiling plan looks fine so I create detail plans for the suites at a different scale. this new suite blowup has what looks to be the same suite but everything is greyed out and when i switch from coarse detail to fine detail it doesn't do a thing.
The orignal full reflected ceiling plan looks fine. The line are black. The detail swithces back and forth... I can;t figure out what the problem could be. I used the same process on other floor and everyting is OK. The View Ranges are the same and everthing else in the properties seem the same too.
How do you create an RCP or reflected ceiling plan in AutoCad 2013? There used to be a place in View to choose it and then enter cut through height.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHaving trouble creating arrays of ceiling light fixtures in Revit 2013? It gives me this error message;
'Can't place inserts outside of hosts. These elements won't be copied'
I've adjusted all manner of settings to make sure the copies don't fall outside the limits of the host ceiling but without success. It only occurs with linear arrays on ceilings not radial arrays for ceilings or linear or radial arrays for walls?
I am working in a project where I need to represent the reflecting ceiling edges in the plan view. I put the first floor plan as underlay, and selected the RCP projection but I don't see the dropped ceiling lines to select them with the linework command. I have done every thing possible with the view range but I don't see the lines.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have some Plumbing "Fixtures" that aren't showing up when the plan is printed. In the view they are visible, but in the print they disappear as if to be covered up by the wall. Unless the "Fixture" is slightly outside of the wall then it will show up. What could be causing this? The fixtures that we're using are simply model lines that form a circle since they're only there to hold a place in a schedule for its info.
So as you can see the dots are visible but when I go to print they disappear...
I'm use to working with autocad layers. In AutoCAD if I'm drawing electrical plan and floor plan, HVAC...ect I just freeze in viewport the things I don't want to see for that particurler sheet.
In Revit I duplicated my floor plan to create my electrical plan. I can add my recepticals and switchs but it won't let me add light fixture. Do I add the light fixture to ceiling plan then some how move them to my electrical plan?
How can I move my air vents to the ceiling plan from the floor plan ?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got some troubles creating a proper ceiling plan. What goes wrong (imo) is that my wall sweep is shown on my ceiling plan while it shouldn't.First image shows the ceiling plan. (on image 3 you will see the wall sweep I mentioned in red).
This image shows the view range used. This images shows the section (right), 3d (top left) and ceiling plan (bottom left) highlighted the wall sweep. Why / how do I prevent this wall sweep from showing up?
I am looking for something a lisp or program that would do a light point by point of fixtures in a plan.

Description or definition of a "Reflective Ceiling Plan" to give to the guys in the shop? Some of them are having a hard time interpreting the drawing and I guess I am not able to communicate it to them properly.

"There is no tag loaded for lighting fixtures, do you want to load one now?"
I have explored a number of other family types, walls, doors, windows, kitchen and bathroom etc and never had this message/error occur.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am trying to figure out why the light fixtures are giving me these thick heavy black lines. The same fixtures in the arch floor plan are close to what I want (see arch1). However in mech1.jpg there isnt a way I can find to make the lights more like arch1.jpg. I dont want to use an architectural view template on a mechanical plan, which seems to be my only temporary solution. This is not an issue of Thin Lines (TL) setting and I have tried object styles and VG, although I must not be looking in the right area. How I can control this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a setting to export the grid lines of ACT ceiling in a 3D view to DWG?
I don't know if there is because I can't even get the grid lines to show in a 3d view. Right now the view shows the ACT ceiling as a simple geometric shape.
With no luck, I have been trying to figure out how to insert a blank value for ceiling heights in a finish schedule. There are other rooms with blank values, however it appears that rooms that once had a ceiling can no longer have a blank value. From the research I've done it seems the only way to correct this may be to delete and recreate the room.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI read a 2009/10 thread, "Rotating lighting", describing how to work around the problem of family lighting fixture members not rotating. I would hope there is a better solution today.
I simply want to place a lighting fixture - std 2x4 flourescent, on a 7 deg sloped ceiling. The axis of rotation is the long run of the light fixture. Is this not possible in Revit 2013?
Or, do I have to dredge up the work around from 3 releases ago and attempt to discern how to make it work?
It seems like I should just be able to set the family to use a work plane-based assignment and then place it with the correct work plane active. That is not happening. The light fixture doesn't want to rotate the 7 degrees to align with the work plane.

I cannot seem to manage drywall alone. If I create a ceiling with 2x4 core and drywall finish and create a ceiling over the whole area the ceiling seems to auto dim to the ceiling finish and not the core 2x4. Then there is the issue of the clean up at the top plate were the wall and ceiling finishes meet

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm inquiring whether or not it is possible for Revit ceilings to be customized by the input of a user regarding the shapes and sizes without using a .pat file. Almost like a parametric object with predefined limitations. For example: a rectangular ceiling tile 'x' can be from 6 inches to 10 feet and side 'y' can be from 6 inches to 6 feet. So someone can select the ceiling type and actually input what size 'x' and 'y' they'd like while staying within those limitations.
