Apr 24, 2012Can you save files for 2012 in 2013? I have the ability to upgrade to 2013 while others at my company are not able to, since they were not put on the subscription service. If I upgrade will they still be able to open my files or can I back save to a previous version? I know I can save it as different file type, like .iges or .step, then use feature recognition. But I need them to have full editability to sketches and features.

May 14, 2012I am copying chunks of code from the My First Plugin tutorial and am using the code that opens Inventor to start the form. I have both Inventor 2012 and 2013 installed on my system. I have gone in to the properties and changed the .dll reference file to read out of the bin/PublicAssemblies folder in 2013, however, when I run my Windows Form, it will open Inventor 2012 instead.

Dec 7, 2012we have Inventor prof 2012 lisc copy ,now we recd 2013 upgrade copy , as per discusswith local service provider of Autodesk need to uninstall whole 2012 and reload fresh 2013. i copied contenet center folder on other location and reload fresh Inventor 2013.when i installed it it is obserbed that content center libraries don't have standards which contents in Inventor 2012. To open our old projects we need this standards, the procedure to import this content center libraries from 2012 to 2013.

Feb 4, 2013On opening a C3D 2013 drawing, C3D hangs for about 5 minutes. At the bottom of the screen is the message: "Upgrading COGO points". This drawing is only 974KB.
The drawing is being opened from a network . I tried saving it on a local hard drive. That had no effect.

May 16, 2012I would like to know how, if possible to make the attributes of a block show up as text. Example:
I am working on a power utility design where each power pole has a sequential name and may or may not have units that need to be added into a contract. I have my attributes set up where I can go in and assign a required number to a unit so I can export my data into excel. The problem I am having is that I have to enter the text and change the attribute quantities separately. Also, there are 40 or so different units and only a few certain ones required at each pole. Is there a way to set the attribute only to display text if the quantity is greater than zero so my list is not 40 units long at each pole?
(I am using Autocad 2013, 64 bit)

Aug 17, 2012I have a multi body part with an extruded cut through all solids. Each solid is derived out to its own part. I edited the extrude feature in the multi body part and removed one solid from the selection set. The cut was correctly deleted from the solid, but when I open the part its still there. The only way to make it update correctly is to manually edit the derive feature in the part. Caught it just before it went off for cutting. 2012 SP2, all hotfixes, win7 64 bit.

Apr 26, 2004problem when manually animating a model ratchet and pawl mechanism in an assembly file. One can get the pawl to track the ratchet wheel surface OK but there seems to be nothing to stop the ratchet wheel going in both directions, contrary to real life experience. I have used transitional constraints to link pawl surfaces with ratchet wheel surfaces but there seems to be no drive constraint which will operate in this circumstance.

When we switched to Inventor we were told that we should recreate our templates from scratch when going to the next release. Oct 3, 2012I am currently running map 3d 2012 and my co-worker is running 2013. When she plots in paperspace, there is text that gets plotted that is outside of her viewport. When I open up the drawing on my computer, it plots perfectly. I attached a clip of it, the thick black is our drawing border, the viewport is where the color stops.

Apr 26, 2012I created and replaced a dwt in 2013. tried opening it in 2012 and it crashes with a "fatal error: unhandled access violation writing 0xec307ff8 exception at ec307ff8h". I restored to whole folder with our dwts to before I created them. and still crashes with 2012. they open fine in 2013.

Jul 16, 2013I added a .PAT file to the 'support file search path' in order to use a custom hatch pattern. (Im using AutoCAD LT 2012)
In the process it has deleted all of the predifined hatch patterns and the custom one did not work either. So now I have ZERO hatch patterns.
How do I get the predefined hatches back?
