View 4 RepliesI've been using 3D PDF Converter to convert my inventor models which have been saved by way of Export - CAD Format - Parasolid Binary Files. The default version is 25. You would think that this new version would be new and improved. However, it does not work.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWe are surveyors working in Civil 3D 2013. We sometimes need to export drawings back to previous versions for architects. This can produce unpredictable results. It was suggested to use the command PROXYGRAPHICS, change it to 1, and then export to a previous version. This worked on some drawings.
Yesterday, however, I tried this method and the architect sent me back a PDF saying this is what it looked like in model space when he opened it.
I am using AutoCAD Architecture 2011 and am trying to export a file to a previous version (after i bind xrefs) so I can play with it in Sketchup. When I go through and have it export and chose the file name and location, nothing happens. I don't even get an error message and no file was created. To work around this, I was hoping to copy/paste the drawing into a new file to export from there but when I copy I get an error message that says "Copy to clipboard failed".
I audited, purged, audited, purged, restarted my computer and CAD. All this works fine on other files in the project so I'm guessing the problem lies within this particular file.
I've grown to accept that workspaces can't be simply exported from a previous version of AI and imported into the next one. So I painstakingly set up my workspace in the 32 bit version of Illustrator CS6, all the panels laid up over 2 screens in the way I use them most eficiently to suit my personal workflow, thinking that the 64 bit version would also have the same workspace available once I start it. Silly me! Why should I have thought things could be so straightforward? Well OK, they don't share workspaces - so how do I export my workspace that I saved in the 32 bit AI to the 64 bit version? That must be do-able surely - if we need to switch versions obviously we want to maintain consistency.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm just trying to put together a macro that will automate saving a selected group of objects to an AI file, however, I need it to be Compatible with version 8.
I've followed code from older posts to the forum and have successfully exported out a PNG file... I'm hoping to just alter that... here is what I have so far:
Set filter = ActiveDocument.ExportBitmap(path & filename, cdrAI, r, cdrPalettedImage, w, h, 96, 96, cdrNormalAntiAliasing, False, False, True, False, cdrCompressionNone)
With filter
.Finish
End With
What would I change to allow it to be compability with AI 8?
I have recently upgraded to ver 2012 from ver 2000. I have numerous macros that were written for the older version that I need to utilize in ver 2012. I manually recreated them in the new version by typing in the commands from ver 2000. As I expected I am getting errors when I try to run these macros in Ver 2012. The mlayer command, for example, does not work. I am pretty sure I need to use the -layer command and have tried this but I still get errors. While I am relatively proficient in ver 2000 I am having some trouble finding commands in ver 2012 that match the old version. Below is an example of a macro from ver 2000 as well as my attempt to rewrite it in ver 2012.
^C^C(mlayer "notes" "cyan" nil) -insert;B6;insert;;;;$S=NUMB0
my rewrite:
^C^C(-layer;m;"notes" "cyan" nil) -insert;B6;insert;;;;$S=NUMB0

View 9 Replies View RelatedIst it o.k. or recommneded to have both the 2012 and 2013 versions of AutoDesk Product Design Suite - Premium installed on the same computer? View 2 Replies View RelatedI have recently installed a copy of Autodesk Product Design Suite Ultimate 2013 and am having problems with assemblies in Inventor turning into educational versions. When I was at Purdue University I used the free educational version of Autodesk Inventor. I recently uninstalled Inventor, deleted the autodesk folders in program files, program data, and my documents folders.
Then I installed this professional version. Everything works great until i use something from the content center. Once a bolt is placed in the assembly the entire assembly becomes educational when I open it again.
We recently upgraded from 2012 to 2013.I set up a task in Task Scheduler to migrate one of our working folders to migrate to the new version. When I open a part or any other file from that migrated folder and save it I get the attached message.
The message states the file has been migrated. Why do I need this messge? Or has the file been migrated?
I have a problem concerning the frame generator skeleton. When I try to save my assembly with its frame.iam and skeleton.ipt, I can't save it. The save window says that the skeleton is not the current version.
In the folder where the skeleton file is saved, two skeleton ipt files are appearing, one "skeleton.ipt and one "skeleton.newver.ipt"
I'm working with Autodesk Inventor Professional 2012, in combination with Autodesk Vault 2012.
Is there a way to browse the Content Center without using Inventor. I am using Inventor 10 with a shared custom content library set up on a separate server. I would like to publish many of our commonly used custom parts for our engineers to search on without having to buy a seat of Inventor for each of them. They would just use it to search, not actually use any of the parts.
View 4 Replies View RelatedOne of our users, lets call him USER1, has recently received the following message when attempting to save an assembly:
"A later version of this file has been saved by USER1. Saving the file would overwrite changes which is not allowed. If you wish to preserve your changes, use the Save Copy As command."
To get to this error message, our user opens an IDW, then the IAM linked to that drawing. Changes made in the IAM are changing bolt lengths, adding fasteners from content center, things like that. After saving inside the IAM this message appears. There are multiple users on our network; but only this user is working the assembly in question when the message appears?
what makes this message appear, and how it can be avoided?
Attached is an image of a frame-generated assembly. The (5) cross members on the left of the image are identical to the (5) cross members on the right (same family, size, & material). However the (5) on the left were originally made in an earlier version of Inventor (probably 2009), & I just added the (5) on the right in Inventor 2014.
The older members have been migrated to the current version, yet you can see a clear color difference between the new version & the old version. Why is it that the colors do not match.
Existing Inventor files will not open in the same version of Inventor in which they were created on the same pc.
The error message reads 'database schema is newer than this version of software'
A sample file is attached. Is there an answer to this other than having an expensive upgrade???
Our Engineering department just switched over to Product Design Suite 2014 and Vault Professional 2014. The entire vault database was migrated during the upgrade process, which is fine but It now causes me an annoying issue. Every file that was migrated and has not yet been opened with the new software has this prompt that alerts me that the data format has been changed. Is there anyway I can turn off this prompt? I know the files have been migrated I really do not need to be reminded everytime I open a file its very irritating and is not a necessary step in my opinion.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI use a machine called a shopbot to cut wood projects. Students draw the parts in Inventor, place them into a idw and use the save copy feature to save it as a DXF file. The shopbot uses a progam called partworks v2 and it reads DXF files. This worked great for the past few years until this summer when we installed the 2013 inventor on our computers. I contacted Shopbot and they said other people are having the same problem and the solution for most of them was to save the idw file as an older version. Last year we had AutoDesk 2011 and it worked fine. how I can save a 2013 idw as a 2011 idw?
