Illustrator :: Export The Workspace Set Up In CS6 32 Bit To 64 Bit Version?
Jun 25, 2012
I've grown to accept that workspaces can't be simply exported from a previous version of AI and imported into the next one. So I painstakingly set up my workspace in the 32 bit version of Illustrator CS6, all the panels laid up over 2 screens in the way I use them most eficiently to suit my personal workflow, thinking that the 64 bit version would also have the same workspace available once I start it. Silly me! Why should I have thought things could be so straightforward? Well OK, they don't share workspaces - so how do I export my workspace that I saved in the 32 bit AI to the 64 bit version? That must be do-able surely - if we need to switch versions obviously we want to maintain consistency.
Is it possible to export a custom Workspace and then import it to another copy of AICS5? It would save a lot of time to be able to do this for each install of CS5 if we could swap and copy Workspaces rather than reinvent the wheel.
in Autocad i have set up my workspace layout (how all my toolbars are arranged), How i can export this and use it on somebody else autocad (transport via flashdrive).
I'm just trying to put together a macro that will automate saving a selected group of objects to an AI file, however, I need it to be Compatible with version 8.
I've followed code from older posts to the forum and have successfully exported out a PNG file... I'm hoping to just alter that... here is what I have so far:
I just downloaded 2013 Autocad for MAC and I can't manage to see my drawing toolbars and also don't know where to find workspace settings to change my workspace to autocad classic.
I am trying to go from the 3D Modeling workspace to the 2D workspace without the XYZ coordinate gizmo on the drawing screen (just want to see the XY ucs) to work in 2D format.
We are surveyors working in Civil 3D 2013. We sometimes need to export drawings back to previous versions for architects. This can produce unpredictable results. It was suggested to use the command PROXYGRAPHICS, change it to 1, and then export to a previous version. This worked on some drawings.
Yesterday, however, I tried this method and the architect sent me back a PDF saying this is what it looked like in model space when he opened it.
is there a way to have the profile be on 2d drafting already as yoju open a new file or should you always open a new file and then change the profile from architecture to 2d drafting?
I am using AutoCAD Architecture 2011 and am trying to export a file to a previous version (after i bind xrefs) so I can play with it in Sketchup. When I go through and have it export and chose the file name and location, nothing happens. I don't even get an error message and no file was created. To work around this, I was hoping to copy/paste the drawing into a new file to export from there but when I copy I get an error message that says "Copy to clipboard failed".
I audited, purged, audited, purged, restarted my computer and CAD. All this works fine on other files in the project so I'm guessing the problem lies within this particular file.
I've been using 3D PDF Converter to convert my inventor models which have been saved by way of Export - CAD Format - Parasolid Binary Files. The default version is 25. You would think that this new version would be new and improved. However, it does not work.
When I open Illustrator CS6 I can see the programs "behind" it. I see Illustrator's menu bar, the tools and panels around the edges, but there is a large space that is still showing whatever program was last used (mail, Firefox etc.) that fills the middle of my screen. By contrast, when I open Photoshop CS6, the screen is filled with a solid gray fill (as well as the menu bar, tools, panels) so other programs aren't visible. I'm running a 27" iMac and OSX Lion, so there's a lot of screen that's filled with stuff that has nothing to do with Illustrator. Is there some way to set preferences or whatever so that the other programs aren't visible when I'm opening Illustrator?
Also, I miss the welcome splash screen on opening AI CS5. At least the option is there when the program launched.
using custom workspaces in Illustrator CS5. I already have a custom workspace that works just as I like, but I accidentally move the panels off of the sidebar nearly every day. Is there a way to lock the panels in place so that I can still open and close them (I use the icon view) but that will not allow me to panels?
In addition, I use Pantone colors on a regular basis and I would really like to be able to keep the swatch color book on the sidebar at all times. I've read before that checking "persistent" is supposed to keep the color book open, but each morning when I start the software I have to reopen the color book (and persistent is still checked). I'd like to be able to save the Pantone color book as part of my custom workspace, but I have tried several times with no luck. How to save the Pantone color book as part of my custom workspace?
how to save a custom workspace in previous versions does not exist in Illustrator CC. Has this option been reconfigured or simply forgotten? I'm using a Trial Version.
I did this for CS6 but am at a loss for how to do it in CC.
I'm on a Mac and want my workspace to have a solid background instead of being able to see through it onto my desktop; similar to what you would see when first openning Illustrator on a Windows PC. Doing this also adds the minimize, close, etc. buttons to the header.
I open PDFs in Illustrator that were created in Autodesk Inventor. The default of Myriad Pro is applied and I would like to change that. I have made a new document profile and a new workspace, but the profile is only good for a new document. The workspace does not change the default type. I could save lots of time if I could change this behavior! I am working in CS6 on a 64-bit Windows machine.
Perhaps it is only a question of getting Illustrator to recognize Arial?
There must be a faster way to updated the current, custom workspace, without having to choose "Save Workspace" and retyping the same name! I constantly tweek my workspace and do not want to save multiple versions, I just want to update the current space.
I'd like to simply hold "option" as I select the current workspace name and have AI update that workspace with my current setup.
When I add color books to my color space, it never saves it, I always have to go back everytime I open illustrator to the Window>Color Books> XXX and add it to my workspace again, it didn't do this on my CS 5.5 but now CS 6 won't let it stay.
in fact didn't know I had the time to be either.Creative Cloud is a great idea, pity it has been used to release under cooked software. The upgrade to CC has cost my department hours and hours of chargeable/billable time.URL....
I'm working with Illustrator CS5 and was looking for the keyboard shortcut to move between the workspace elements contained within the Application framework.
I'm having an issue with Illustrator 6. I had a previous verison (CS4 and CS5) that was used to created some documents. I'm having trouble with the fonts used translating to the new version even though in the font library, all the fonts I need are listed there.
How can I tell which version of Illustrator my .ai file was created in? If I try to open it in a new version of Illustrator it just tells me it was created with an "older version". I need to know which version, as I'm being told by a programmer that I need to update all my Illustrator 9 .ai files. I need a way to identify them.
Is there a way to ungroup the elements of an imported pdf in Illustrator 6? Do you have to change the settings in Adobe Acrobat first to allow the elements to import individually rather than a group?
I'm very unfamiliar with this software, and am not actually doing anything on it, just need to save a file for some printers who only have Version 11 or lower compatibility. How can I downsave.
I found a big problem (for me ) of the font showing. Since i used CS5 before , the font can show normally. But I found that some of the type cannot be show but instead with " square " in CS6.
I recently created a file in Illustrator CS6 (Creative Cloud version), and saved it as PDF with illustrator editing capabilities preserved. It saved fine, but when I opened the file in Illustrator CS6 again for more editing today, it gave me an earlier version of the file instead of the latest version that I saved last night. However, the file opened correctly in Quick Look, Preview and Photoshop CS6. I've tried to make a copy of the file, and open the copy in a different folder, as well as deleting illustrator preferences.I don't want to spend another 1.5 hours to redo things that I've done.
