Illustrator :: Customizing And Locking CS5 Workspace?

Jan 20, 2012

using custom workspaces in Illustrator CS5. I already have a custom workspace that works just as I like, but I accidentally move the panels off of the sidebar nearly every day. Is there a way to lock the panels in place so that I can still open and close them (I use the icon view) but that will not allow me to panels?

In addition, I use Pantone colors on a regular basis and I would really like to be able to keep the swatch color book on the sidebar at all times. I've read before that checking "persistent" is supposed to keep the color book open, but each morning when I start the software I have to reopen the color book (and persistent is still checked). I'd like to be able to save the Pantone color book as part of my custom workspace, but I have tried several times with no luck. How to save the Pantone color book as part of my custom workspace?

CorelDRAW Technical Suite X6 :: Customizing Workspace

May 8, 2013

I have recently started working with CorelDRAW Technical Suite X6. I am trying to figure out if there is any way to customize the Workspace, change the color of the entire background like you can do in autodesk autocad? Are there any plug ins I can download for different menu bars or completely change the layout of everything?

Xara :: Customizing Workspace - Setup To Include Some Of New Tools

Jul 16, 2013

I've been experimenting with a different custom layout. I split my most used tools into two floating palettes configured in double rows, one for drawing tools and one for photo tools. I turned of the tool bar and parked my two custom palettes on the left in its place. I've done away with the flyouts and I always use the mouse to zoom and pan so I didn't need those tools. Web design tools I keep up top along with a few custom buttons for things like toggling the rulers and the handy wrench for bringing up the options palette. Now I just have to try and remember where I put everything

Anyway to get set ups to include some of the new tools? Do you customize your workspace? which buttons from the button palette do find most useful? As I already mentioned I always add the wrench for one click access to the options. I also add the convert to editable shapes button. Here is a screenshot of my new set up. (My galleries aren't missing I have a second monitor and I keep the galleries stashed on there.)

Illustrator :: Customizing Graphic Object Size In Scatter Chart?

Jul 17, 2012

I am working on a scatter chart in Illustrator.  We would like to use circles instead of the default square.  I have figured out how to create and use a custom graphic for this.  However, no matter what size circle I create, it seems to default back to the size of what the square was.

Is there any way to customize the size of the graphic objects used in the scatter chart?

Illustrator :: Locking Down AI Files

Aug 16, 2012

How do you lockdown an AI file or rather hold ownership to it even if someone else is allowed to edit the file. BAsiclaly I want someone else to use the file for printing or say for animation. In this case you're asked to give the EPS or PDF file and this is usually for editing purposes I believe. Now if this is true and you have to give, how do you retain the original ownership to the file irrespective of someone editing it or whatever?

I looked at PDF password protection with no editing capabilities but that is a joke, you can circumvent it. So what is the best method here?

Illustrator :: How To Get Solid Workspace On Opening

May 26, 2012

When I open Illustrator CS6 I can see the programs "behind" it. I see Illustrator's menu bar, the tools and panels around the edges, but there is a large space that is still showing whatever program was last used (mail, Firefox etc.) that fills the middle of my screen. By contrast, when I open Photoshop CS6, the screen is filled with a solid gray fill (as well as the menu bar, tools, panels) so other programs aren't visible. I'm running a 27" iMac and OSX Lion, so there's a lot of screen that's filled with stuff that has nothing to do with Illustrator. Is there some way to set preferences or whatever so that the other programs aren't visible when I'm opening Illustrator?

Also, I miss the welcome splash screen on opening AI CS5. At least the option is there when the program launched.

Illustrator :: Export The Workspace Set Up In CS6 32 Bit To 64 Bit Version?

Jun 25, 2012

I've grown to accept that workspaces can't be simply exported from a previous version of AI and imported into the next one. So I painstakingly set up my workspace in the 32 bit version of Illustrator CS6, all the panels laid up over 2 screens in the way I use them most eficiently to suit my personal workflow, thinking that the 64 bit version would also have the same workspace available once I start it. Silly me! Why should I have thought things could be so straightforward? Well OK, they don't share workspaces - so how do I export my workspace that I saved in the 32 bit AI to the 64 bit version? That must be do-able surely - if we need to switch versions obviously we want to maintain consistency.

Illustrator :: Workspace Does Not Change The Default Type

Jun 20, 2013

I open PDFs in Illustrator that were created in Autodesk Inventor. The default of Myriad Pro is applied and I would like to change that. I have made a new document profile and a new workspace, but the profile is only good for a new document. The workspace does not change the default type. I could save lots of time if I could change this behavior! I am working in CS6 on a 64-bit Windows machine.

Perhaps it is only a question of getting Illustrator to recognize Arial?

3ds Max :: Customizing A New Button Icon

Aug 31, 2011

I had this new script which is used in Unwrella2 so I placed it in the user interface as a new button in the tool bar, the problem is it has no icon so, I wanted to customize one for it. I start searching tile I found how to and I followed the description..I customize a button icon 24*24 it had to be *.bmp 24-bit(I also found that to have an alpha channel it has to be 32_bit 8red 8green 8blue 8alpha) or 16 bit it must contain an alpha channel which I did all of this I even toke one of the original ones from the UI folder and I customize it then every time I copy the new button in icon folder and restart max 2012 and go to “edit button appearance” and search for the new button nothing there I named the new button right “group-name”_24i.bmp but still the max 2012 don’t want to read it.

in the image attached a button icon which should give me a new group called Unwrella with two buttons. I even found some original buttons which is split in two file (file *_24a.bmp contain the Alpha as RGB) and (file *_24i.bmp contain 24_bit colored RGB) I even tried this but still max 2012 don’t read it.

Revit :: Customizing Viewport Templates

Mar 6, 2012

I'm finding that setting up views on a sheet is a bit cumbersome especially when creating a sheet with a lot of views.  For example, I'm creating casework details & elevations and our firm's stardard is to basically set up a grid on the sheet to frame each detail drawing. The process I've been using is: 1. Place the view on the sheet, 2. change the viewport to a modified template that simply changes the text and gets rid of the default # & circle title. 3. I then have to realign the title text with the view. 4. THEN I essentially draw 2d linework to create the view frames on the sheet for each detail view.

This just seems like a cumbersome process for a program that's so intuitive. I would imagine/HOPE there would be a way to change the default for when I place a view on a page. I'd like the views to automatically show the view frame/border when they are placed on the page and then I could simply manipulate the frames to fit each page.

If there's no way to really change this default then I would imagine it would be better to change our office standard to save time. Below is a pic to show our standard sheet layout.
