Firstly is it even worth disabling things like Studio/Frame generator/content center in the Add-in manager if I never use them? I was hoping to at least reduce initial load time for inventor.
Secondly, do i need Win7 admin permission to do it? When I uncheck 'Load on Startup' settings in the Add-In Manager they just re-check themselves.
Since yesterday The vault ribbon is missing in Inventor 2014 and also add ins are grayed out(not loaded).

I was wondering if there was an option to set Inventor to display the full file path for the current file open ? At present I am only seeing a short description of the name of the active file - I wish to see it's full file path similar to what AutoCAD displays.

I'm trying to update a part with different colors for various features. My color styles are not available in this file. I can export them from another file, then use the import function to bring it over, but there has to be a way to force this file to find the entire "default" color file.

Does Autodesk 360 cloud storage work in any way shape or form similar to a Vault whereby users can check out, lock, and then check in designs? Can Vault be used in conjunction with Autodesk 360, or does Autodesk 360 eliminate or replace the need for Vault?
What's the best way for individuals working at multiple sites to work without overwriting each others' data or having save collisions?
I'm using the file dialog snippet as the foundation for a save as dialog box for saving a new copy of my template assembly to a project folder. Is there a way to disable the ability to click on a file in the window which puts that filename in the input box? The assembly file name is standardized and pre-"calculated" by my code and its a decent hassle if you accidentally click another file because the user would either have to rewrite the file name by hand, or cancel out of the dialog box and re-navigate to the project folder.

I am copying a design in the vault & when i go through all the files to ensure they are all to 'copy' there is several which I cannot change their status from 'reuse' to 'copy'
I don't have any of the files checked out & they are all the latest versions.
Describe the external referencing of a part file by an assembly file? I keep getting confused between part file and an assembly file.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a script that makes PDF-file with suffix revision. Now I want to expand this script so it even makes a STEP-file of the 3d-file connected to the drawing. This would make all manufacture files in one button. That should be nice..
How will i manage with this since the active document is the drawing not the part. (see code below)
Set oDoc = ThisApplication.ActiveDocument
Call oDoc.SaveAs("C:UsersGoranWeDesktop est estfile.stp", True)
We have a couple parts that are linked to a jpg file, through Inventor studio. They were set as a reflection image, from what I can tell. However they are now perminantly linked to the part and anything we copy from it. I eliminated the reflection from Inventor studio, but Vault still thinks the link is there. If we delete the jpg files it causes unresolved references and as we all know Inventor will then refuse to work until they are resolved.
Any way to get rid of this link? We can make a new jpg, and resolve it, but not delete it.
I'm linking an excel file to an .ipt file with iLogic code determining if the Material type is a certian value it will find the correct material thickness. These file work great when working on them thru Vault but when I "Save As Template" and create this file where our other template files are located (not Vault) this fuction does not work. I have realized that I had to place the a copy of the excel file in the same file folder as the template ipt, but even this does not fix the issue.
I recieve this error:
Error in rule: Material, in document: Part6
'MWW Materials (Inventor).xlsx' could not be found. Check the spelling of the file name, and verify that the file location is correct.
If you are trying to open the file from your list of most recently used files, make sure that the file has not been renamed, moved, or deleted.
It seems completly countintutive that just saving the file as a template file would cause this not to work when all files that are required are located in the same file folder. Maybe I need a reference to the excel document within the iLogic code.
if i need to rename or change anything in the iproperties of ipt, im doing it from the vault.my problem is that, when i change something in iproperties of an ipt thru vault, i have to open the idw to update it.
as most of the iproperties in ipt shows in the idw.
its easy to change the properties in vault. but its deleting its purpose if i have to each idw to make sure i have the updated idw.is there a code where i can open all idw and save the same file and checking to the vault automatically?

I usually work with blender and I have a problem with a file I downloaded. It is a parasolid file (x_t) which I can't open in Blender. I can't use CADexchanger as well because I am using a MAC. How to convert the file into a STL/OBJ/3DS file that I can import in Blender? I compressed the file and it is 5.8 MB so I can't attach it here and would have to send it manually.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to use iLogic Design Copy to copy an assembly and all its associated parts to another directory. The assembly contains content center parts. Inventor warns me that the destination file of one of the CC parts (and 18 others) will be overwritten. When I go ahead and copy anyway, the copying process stops at that specific CC part. The Design Copy Progress dialog box states there is an error copying that CC part. When I close the Design Copy Progress dialog box, Inventor crashes.
The error copying the CC part: I'm allowed to use content center parts in iLogic Design Copied stuff, right? I searched some related topics and I'm under the impression that Inventor keeps the CC parts in its own directory and shouldn't be trying to overwrite them.
I am trying to use iLogic to create the file types I need to give to my vendors once I have created a drawing. In the .idw file I have a rule that creates a .pdf file and .dwg file. I also want it to activate a rule I have in the .ipt file that creates a .dxf file.

Is it possible to link one part file dimension to another part file?
1. Part first is a cylinder in parametric table i changed it,s name OD , ID and thk. ( find attachment )
Cylinder ID is ( ID=105)
2. Then i made 2 nd part whose step od ( od=102) is going to insert in to cylinder id.There is 3 mm clerance every time
3. So i have to make equction in 2 nd part that ( Step OD= ( ID-3).
means next time when i will change ID of cylinder OD of 2 nd part will ger changed automatically minus by 3 mm than id of cylinder.
I was wondering if the is a way to go from a Inventor file type to a Solidworks file type. One of our customers is asking for one or the other following file types: .asm or .prt.
They also mentioned something about "shrink wrapping" the file to all the surfaces.
I am working with a few engineers and they want me to convert the idw drawing file to a vsd "Visio" file for there redline process. They would like to be able to play with the line work in Visio. Is this possible?

We have an Inventor Drawing Border Template which is 381KB in size. We have a drawing checklist in PDF format which is 182KB in size
We thought to insert this into the IDW file so it would appear in the browser bar as embedded under the 3rd party section this actually works a treat....BUT The total file size of the template is then 2049KB which is too large. Why is it when inserting a 182KB File into a 381KB file it creates a combined file size of nearly 4 times the size of the 2 files?
It seemed difficult to have files this large repeated over and over again.
I have a frame that we have designed and detailed using Inventor and Frame Generator. The steel fabricator is asking for a CIS/2 model file to use with their Fabrication/Management software. I have done a search of this forum and found two posts asking about this format (from 2004 & 2009) but neither have any responses.
It does not appear that IV will export this information natively so I am looking for some kind of work-flow to get them this information using AD products. Any resellers out there familiar with a product/translator?
