AutoCAD Inventor :: Make Drawings Of Different Welding Stages?

Apr 13, 2006

Just about to take the first plunge in the pool of IV10 welding environment.

My question is: How do you make drawings for your different welding stages? When making my acquaintace with welding environment, I have encountered following scenarios:

I would like to make a drawing of an individual part from assembly, with preparations visible. This can be done by choosing preparations-state of a weldment assembly, followed by choosing a part from a pull down-menu. However, parts list still refers to whole assembly whereas I need only that one part. No worries, I’ll just hide those I don’t need.

Machining-stage produces a drawing where all previous weldment stages are visible as well, including preparations and weldings. Drawing used for machining the welded structure shows a lot of things that doesn’t need to be there, such as grooves. Empty grooves even, if I didn’t bother to define the actual weld beads there. I suppose this is as designed, but looking the assembly with the machinist’s eyes who would only see filled grooves, I would like the ability to choose if I want those stages to show or not. Again, parts list shows every part of an assembly. Guy who does the machining requires only the assembly level information.

I imagine that deriving the welded assembly would solve some of the issues.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Get Welding Symbol In 2D Drawing

Feb 16, 2012

I have a weldment assembly. It is a subassembly under a main assembly. In the 2D drawing of this main assembly, I tried to indicate the welding symbols for the subassembly assembly. The "Get Weld Symbol" is grey out.

How can I indicate welding symbol in the 2D drawing?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Welding / How To Glue Two Parts Together

Jan 7, 2014

I have been toying with the welding aspect today and cannot figure our how to glue two parts together the way I want.

What I have is two pcs of 1.5" SQ tube (from content center) one with the face butted up against the side of the other. The weld will show on the top and bottom (straight sections) but will not fill the edges where the radius's from the tubing is (are?).

AutoCAD Inventor :: Tapping A Welding Assembly

May 7, 2013

I have a simple welding assembly: a plate and a cylinder (boss). The boss has a through-hole of 0.3125.The plate has a hole of 0.332.The boss is welded to the plate with the holes being concentric.

I tried to perform a machining operation by creating a sketch, projecting the geometry of the holes, and creating a threaded hole at the centerpoint projected.

The thread size I had selected was 3/8-16, and this is where I run into the issue. When modeled, a tapped 3/8-16 hole measured 0.307 (which I assume is the threads minor diameter). Obviously, 0.307 is smaller than the two concentric holes and Inventor is unable to create the tapped hole.

According to the tapped drill size chart found in any machinist reference, 0.312 is the required drilled hole diameter to tap a 3/8-16 hole. Am I missing something as how to create this tapped hole after welding in Inventor?

I know I could make the holes smaller on the Plate ans Boss, but then they would not accurately depict what is being made in our shop.

This first one (with the single line) does not EVER give me the option to 'create' when I am done clicking my points, its always greyed out and I dont know why.

how to make a centerline...select that option, click here, click there, when done right click and 'create'. Doesnt work.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Edit Fillet Weld / Way To Add Welding Symbol

Jan 8, 2013

I am looking for a way to add a welding symbol to an existing fillet weld.  When I am creating a fillet weld, I get a chance to create a welding symbol based on the fillet weld size.

If this is not done when the weld is created, there is no way to add this notation.  I don't have the "Create Welding Symbol" checkbox when editing an existing weld.  The only solution is to delete the weld and recreate it.

I am trying to link the welds in the iam with the weld notes in the idw.

it's possible to export informations stated in "tailing note box" from all welding symbols? The reason why I'd like to do it...it's because each weld in the drawing has his own number and I'd like to be able to work with these weld numbers in MS excel. It means I'd like to be able to export all the weld numbers and also to change these weld numbers in the drawing via MS excel.

Photoshop :: Color Bug? Dark Backgrounds Make Drawings Disappear

Jan 12, 2008

I just started working with Photoshop, so I might be making some stupid rookie mistake...but I can't figure out what the hell could be wrong.

When I draw something on a dark background it just vanishes as soon as I fill the area with the paint bucket!

If I have a dark grey background, and draw something in black using the brush, when I try to fill the drawing, for instance green, with the paint bucket, the entire picture becomes green!
It was as if the drawing was never there.

At first I thought I had some wierd setting on my brush, but the wierd thing is that this only happens when I use dark colors.
Doing the exact same thing with yellow and red, works perfectly fine.

AutoCAD LT :: Can't Copy / Paste Between Drawings/ Incomprehensible Heavy Drawings

Dec 28, 2012

I'm using ACAD LT 2008.

When i try to copy paste some drawing entities from a heavy drawing file to any other file, the program blocks and says 'not responding', endlessly. So i always have to shutdown the program. I experience the same problem using the designcenter: when I try to copy a layout into another drawing, my computer gets stuck.

Another annoying problem with these files is that they are so heavy, while in fact they shouldn't be. I tried the aectoacad file command. In result the file id half as big, but after I open it and save it, again is the original size.

1.drawing (operation); rectangular prism,

2.drawing (operation); rectangular prism and rectangular cutting,

3.drawing (operation); rectangular prism, rectangular cutting and hole,

4.drawing (operation); rectangular prism, rectangular cutting, hole and hexagon cutting,

when I change dimensions of rectangular prism, all four operation drawings must change, so I can't change location of end of part in idw's browser, but I can change location of end of part in ipt's browser, I want to change location of end of part in idw's browser, can I do this? or alternative solution...

I don't want to make, four ipt for each operations... I added a picture...

AutoCAD Inventor :: BOM Settings For Drawings

Oct 2, 2012

The solutions that I have found to get an assembly bom on an assembly drawing are:

1. insert an assembly into an assembly.

2. make a virtual part or derived part.

3. make extra fields in the part and have the BOM column look at alternative iproperty fields.

In a part file that has a family table I want the configurations of some casted parts and some machined parts. the casted parts will have a drawing but no BOM, the machined parts will have a drawing and a BOM.

Then in an assembly file that has a family table I want configurations that use the configurations of the part file. Each of these assemblies will have a drawing that has a BOM that will call out the part that is is made from.

In other words I will have a casting that will be machined so I will need a casting drawing and a machine drawing that has a BOM telling what casting to use.

On top of that when I try to make a family table in an assembly I get a message "THE BILL OF MATERIALS CONTAINS VIEWS OR PROPERTIES NOT SUPPORTED BE CONFIGURATIONS. OONLY STRUCTURED FIRST LEVEL BOM VIEWS ARE SUPPORTED. THE BOM WILL BE CHANGED DURING CONVERSION".

AutoCAD Inventor :: BOM Settings For Drawings

Sep 29, 2012

I thought when you created a part and filled out the iproperties description field and created a drawing of that part that the parts list would read the iproperties description field and put that in the parts list description field.

Then when you create an assembly that included that part and filled out the iproperties description field in the assembly and created a drawing of that assembly that the parts list description field would be filled out be the assembly iproperties description field.

Instead the description field of the parts list in the assembly drawing is filled out using the iproperties description field of the part not the assembly.

AutoCAD LT :: Publish Drawings To Overwrite Existing PDF Drawings

Apr 2, 2013

Every now and then I go back and try to use publish to speed up printing but I always go back to plotting one by one.

I work in a housing construction office and I have 10 separate drawings side by side in model space for house plans that I need plot separate to give to certain people. My problem isn't that I can't publish them separately its that I can't save them over existing pdf's individually predetermined.

Q1. do i just have to go through and change every layout name before or after i publish?

Q2. how do i change the output publish location?

Q3. can each layout be saved to a different existing pdf and remember it?

Q3. can i save these setting across to a new drawing?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Automated Generated Drawings?

Oct 1, 2008

I have an assembly that is a general model with different modules that all are iAssemblies.

With this model I can speed up the design process at the company I am working for.

In the model I only choose the correct member for the iAssemblies and the assembly updates correctly and just with a couple of clicks I have made a configuration of all the modules.

Now, I would like to take it a step further and have the drawing, for the specific configuration, generated automatically.

In the drawing I would like to have the master assembly presented in sheet 1 and the modules presented separately in different sheets, all sheets with BOM lists.

Is this possible to do?

(Next step is to export all the BOM lists to an excel document that can be sent to the product co-ordinator to build up the database system)

AutoCAD Inventor :: Keep Styles In (sync) Between Drawings?

Aug 5, 2013

What's the best way to ensure that all the drawings for my project are updated if I make changes to the Style settings on one of them? I've been putting every sheet into a single drawing file, but now I'm up to about 50 sheets and it takes about 40 seconds for each save, even if I only made a single minor change since the last save. I don't have any iLogic that could be causing this.

So I'd like to split the sheets up into multiple.dwgs, but I want changes I make my Styles to be reflected in all drawings. Can I create an "external" stye file that all drawings pull their style from? Or will I have to export/import to each drawing every time I make a change?
