May 16, 2012I am attempting to revolve a sketch between two surfaces in Autodesk Inventor Professional 2012. The problem is that the extrusion is being created on the opposite side of the two surfaces that I want.
For example, I have two flanges on a cylinder. I would like the feature to be created to stretch on the lower side, the larger angle, where the sketch is. Instead, it is creating the feature on the upper side, the smaller angle.
I have adjusted everything I can within the revolve feature options, including unchecking "minimum solution" and switching the starting and terminating faces.
In the attached file I am attempting to revolve "Sketch 7" about the x-axis, between the two flanges closest to the "top." The sketch is centered on where I want the revolved feature to be created.

Jan 12, 2012i a'm using Inventor routed 2011 and am having a issue with a revolve. I created an axis with a sketch in the part. Than i created a plane that does not pass through that axis. i sketch on that plane than try to revolve using the axis. it gives me an error. what i have is a arm3+"w x 28"l that is pivoting in the in the center and about 9" from the end it tapers out .5". The bottom is the cutting edge that i need to revolve onto a weldment for matching to keep a tight seal.

Dec 20, 2012I am really struggling in trying to revolve around cylindrical body on a specified angle. I understand the degrees of rotation angle, but i am looking to revolve or extrude a certain shape for the length of the shaft. Like trying to make a coil or a set of threads.
I have tried to use sweep but sweep doesn't work with two sweep lines.

Jan 15, 2013My problem today is that I made a Model of a Part of a ship using surfaces rather than solids because the engineer thought it would be easier to bring into ANSYS program for analysis but he is now having a problem with it and I am looking into converting my current model to solid. I can do it but the method I thought of using is quite long winded and we are working to a tight deadline.
1.open up the surface part
2.use "Offset/Thicken"
3.any clashes between parts make a sketch and cut away.
the problem is the amount of plates I have and the time it takes to sort them out.

Every time I apply the revolve command and select the 2d polyline and pick my axis points (start and end) it states that "unable to revolve selected object". Mar 4, 2008We received a surface model from a vendor that I have patched up as best I can, it still has one hole that I can find that I haven't been able to fill. Ideally we would like to have a solid model, but I'm running out of time to get this done and the surface model we have would be good enough for our purposes IF I can get the yellow surface tangent lines to turn off or change their color to black.

Illustrator :: Using Gradients On 3D Revolve Shapes
Dec 30, 2013I am new to Illustrator and am trying to create a 3D dish that looks silver on one side and gold on the other. Is there a way I can do this? If I want to add further shapes to the top of this dish is it better to add these before applying the 3D effect? If so is it possible to apply the gradients to only part of the shape?
Alternatively would it be possible to use the gradient mesh in concave shape. The default mesh is convex. Is there an easy way to change this to concave?

Aug 9, 2012I am working in 5.5 and have a 3D revolved globe object with a map art applied. It is currently in A2 art board size and I need to increase to A0. When I scale the object I get "The combination of artwork size and resolution exceeds the maximum that can be rasterized." I have tried adjusting the rasterize setting and the map art.

Aug 19, 2012Basically I am trying to map a world map vector (symbol) onto a 3d revolve half circle in Illustrator. The problem I am having is that the quality of the map vector is significantly reduced when mapped on the 3d revolve. Is there any way I can have it keep it's "full" vector quality or is there something else I am missing.

Illustrator :: 3D Revolve Is Smoothing Vectors
Mar 20, 2014Got a problem trying to wrap a vector illustration of a map around a sphere to create a globe for a logo (as per this tutorial: [URL] ....) except I don't want to make it look 3d with the shading options.
Basically when I do this, the map loses all it's detail almost as if Illustrator simplifies the map. I can't seem to work out at all how to make this while retaining the detail and export it as an eps.

Since effects are not recordable, I added it using "Insert Menu Item..." and saved .aia file, which contained 3 params (itnm, lcnm and cmid). These params were enough to invoke 3D Revolve Options Dialog using SDK, but nothing more. Two questions:
Is it possible to suppress Options dialog? I used kDialogOff, but without effect. I suppose that dialog showed because I haven't specified any additional parameter (like x, y, z rotation, angle, surface, etc), which leads to second questionHow to find out list of params that are necessary for particular effect?
Generally, is it possible at all to apply Effects using PlayActionEvent?
Illustrator :: Mapping Artwork To 3D Revolve Object?
May 1, 2013I have created a 3d object to look like a coffee mate carton. I tried to post images on here but I keep getting an error.The art work that I want to put on my object consists of a number of elements which have been saved as a symbol. (image) However whenever I try to map it to my object nothing happens. I have used some of the system symbols and these work fine. I have also made a simple label of text only and this works fine. Is there a problem using more complex symbols in this way?

I need exactly to the front. I think this is because perspective based on the center of rectangle (in the green circle) not on the center of cylinder. Is it possible to move the center of rectangle? AutoCAD Inventor :: Modify STP Model
Oct 22, 2013I have a STP file of a seat that I just want to simply modify it's dimensions. Bring some aspects in closer, raise the back, and hollow out the middle. I can't seem to do anything and in searching online I only ended up with Inventor Fusion 2013 R1 that crashes each time, and Fusion 360 which has to be the worst user experience I have ever found in a piece of software.
(Side note I understand a little about solid models and surface models, but I just want something to work, otherwise inventor is a glorified model viewer.
