View 6 Replies View RelatedMy problem today is that I made a Model of a Part of a ship using surfaces rather than solids because the engineer thought it would be easier to bring into ANSYS program for analysis but he is now having a problem with it and I am looking into converting my current model to solid. I can do it but the method I thought of using is quite long winded and we are working to a tight deadline.
1.open up the surface part
2.use "Offset/Thicken"
3.any clashes between parts make a sketch and cut away.
the problem is the amount of plates I have and the time it takes to sort them out.
I have a .dxf model and I need the file in .ipt format as a 3d model. (I got the file from a website)
View 3 Replies View RelatedWe received a surface model from a vendor that I have patched up as best I can, it still has one hole that I can find that I haven't been able to fill. Ideally we would like to have a solid model, but I'm running out of time to get this done and the surface model we have would be good enough for our purposes IF I can get the yellow surface tangent lines to turn off or change their color to black.
I've attached a jpg of the surface model with the yellow lines and uploaded the model here: [URL].....
CPU / Computer Case fan - the spindle & blades only. For a better picture, it looks like this: [URL] ...
How do I design the blades?
How do I bend the blades?
How do I multiply the blades to make it repeat in circle?
P.S. The 3ds max discussion Area is locked, from what I've heard. I want to start creating GPU boards (which I already know how to do). BUT, I don't know how to design a Cooling Fan properly... which function in 3ds MAX... ???
how to align the model when ucs of diff. asm are done in diff ucs, aside from constraining the faces.

I have a STP file of a seat that I just want to simply modify it's dimensions. Bring some aspects in closer, raise the back, and hollow out the middle. I can't seem to do anything and in searching online I only ended up with Inventor Fusion 2013 R1 that crashes each time, and Fusion 360 which has to be the worst user experience I have ever found in a piece of software.
(Side note I understand a little about solid models and surface models, but I just want something to work, otherwise inventor is a glorified model viewer.
I couldn't attach the file so here is the link to it. [URL]........
is it possible to replace a model from .iam to ipt in idw?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been reading here that the preferred mode of generating dimensions on the drawing views is by using "Retrieve" method.
My question is: how can I programatically add dimensions or measurements to the model so I can retrieve them in the drawing view? This has to be all done by code.
How do I scale a 3D model that I have imported originally from a ".step" file (or really any 3D model). I have come from SolidWorks, and this was very easy to do. All of the help files indicate that I need access to the original sketch.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I started on this project recently and was not the original modeler. This section of pipe has some problems where I'm guessing a sweep went wrong. I've tried everything I know to do to try to fix this section but haven't had any luck.
- This model has no tree and is shown as one soild "base"
- I tried to extrude cut the bad section
- I tried spliting the bad section
- I exported the file as an IGES and then tried to remove bad section
I'm sure there are some other round about ways I tried that I can't think of but in the end nothing has worked.
I need to slice my 8" tall CAD model into 2" slices for machining - is there an easy way to do this in Inventor ?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIf any easy method to check the model in the inventor.now i doing each feature i have to check the fully constrained or not.if any easy method.
View 8 Replies View RelatedCustomer has sent me a 3D Autocad model. Part opens fine in Autocad 2012 and Acad Mech 2012. I need to bring this into Inventor so, from Inventor: Choose Open and select the dwg file.
From options, I select "Import".
Select "Next" on the dwf/dfx File Wizard, then Finish.
Instead of Inventor opening the file, I get this dialog.... "Mechanical Desktop 6 or newer is required".I don't have Mech Desktop. How can I get this part into Inventor? In ACAD, I tried ACISOUT and picked the objects.... "339 found, No Solids, regions, or Shape Manger bodies found". Does not export.
I'm writing a small tool for Inventor 2012 in VB.net, using the TranslatorAddIn, to export a drawing and its 3D-model to DWF. Unfortunately, when I export the drawing of an assembly, the BOM of the model is included as well, wich I would like to disable.
The options "BOM_Structured" and "BOM_Parts_Only" seem to work only if I export the 3D-model, not the drawing...
Any way to access the properties of the included 3D-model?
I made a 3D model with ilogic to control features to be suppressed or compressed. Because there are lot of features need to do so (need almost 4 to 5 min.) , when I run the rules, it came "Rule timeout" issue as pictures.
I used:
Feature.IsActive (myFeature) = status
to control the feature be suppressed or unsuppressed .
So I make a few modifications to a part and go to save it and it wants to save it as a DWG??? What is wrong with this? Why would you want to save a 3D Model as a DWG???

View 9 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to get model annotation and show in idw? Im not referring to weld annotation, but dimensions of the 'cut out ' plus some description.
My idea is, i like to use ifeature to minimize redundant operation , this standard operation is used to different part .
part consist of different standard operation (ifeature), now if my operation (it doesn't have to be ifeature) has dimension and annotations, i would to see it in idw.

When I'm working in an assembly, and I open up a model and make some changes, sometimes I decide I don't want to keep those changes anymore, but I've made to many and I max out my undo button before I can get rid of all the changes.
If I try to just close th model, it just tells me that it is still open in the context of another part (the assembly) and that I can save it now, or with the assembly. It doesn't give me an option to discard my changes.
What I end up having to do is select "No" on that option and close the part, then save the assembly, and go through the list of parts it is saving and tell it not to save the part in question, and close the assembly, and repeat for all assemblies it is contained within until the entire model is closed, then open everything back up again.
Any easier way to discard all of my changes since opening a part? I have a strange feeling though that there is an issue with that, since any change you make on the model is updated in the assembly in real time.
I should add, I want to increase my undo file size, which is currently sitting at 1GB, but have one question: is the undo file stored in RAM or on the hard drive? How much can I safely increase this without running into any performance issues?
I am currently working on a model which was first created using inventor. Its is a drawing contaning tanks and pipeworks.I have looked into the drawing and have noticed that all the parts are 3d solids. The file size is over 100mb which makes the drawing impossible to work on.
Resolving the file size issue? Maybe converting all the solids to blocks?
I will be able to have access to the original inventor file and possibly try exporting smaller parts of the site and xref only the relevent parts of the site as required for each drawing if that makes sense.
I was created model of industrial robot with assembly and I need to create program in VBA, which can be used to steering robot arms in model for example used keyboard. Program have to include assembly too. I don't know what I should start do this.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a very simple Inventor 2013 CAD model that I tried to export to an STL and the scale of the STL is not 1:1. I have tried changing all of the units and setting 100 different ways and I still cannot get it to export to a 1:1 scale for 3D printing. What is the deal with this I cannot believe it is this difficult.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have some users that use Solid Viewer that I am cosidering switching to Inventor LT. I use Inventor Pro. There is a feature in SolidWorks that let's them quickly display the overall extents; length, width, and height for quoting purposes. The tool creates a transparent box around the 3D model and displays these dimensions.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if there was a command that will get the file name of the model referenced in a drawing?
The reason I want to do this is because I have various programs to automate drawings, but I have to manually edit the code if i want to switch between using the code on assembly drawings and part drawings.
If i can get the model reference, I can then use a bit of extra programming to extract the extension. (i.e. .ipt or .iam)

How to align a model to the origin, and NONE of them seem to be correct. I am using Inventor 2013. I tried the move body command, however there is no part of the dialog box that lets me choose a face or plane to align to.
What to do when you import a model that is not aligned to the origin?
I am not seeing the "Save as to DWF" in my Inventor 2011 save as list.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a question about creating a drawing out of a model in Inventor 2013.
After selecting Base View it opens the Drawing View GUI, with the 3 tabs: Component, Model State, and Display Options.
Being fairly new to Inventor (and trying to learn as I go) I started looking through these tabs and discovered the All Model Dimensions check box in the Display Options tab. Seeing that it automatically dimensions the part when it is brought into the paperspace, I am wondering if there is any way to change the default dimension style for this choice from string to ordinate?
