I'm using autodesk inventor 2010 and am having problems when inserting an image onto my model. Basically I select insert image then pick the bitmap picture but when I position it, it multiplies but stays in one grouping meaning I cant isolate one image.
View 8 RepliesI would like to know how to change the colour of a single layered, single coloured gradient (foreground to transparent) image. There is nothing more to it than that other than I don't want to use the hue/saturation adjustment as it's hard to get a specific colour.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am trying edit photographs for website production and I am using an already made wesbite template. However, the images that are already on the template are not the same size as the photographs that I am wanting to put on it. The template image size listed is as follows: Pixel Dimensions are W939xH373; Document Size W13.042xH5.181; Resolution is 72. The photos that I want to use are normal size from the camera. My question is this: Is there a way to convert the size of the image into what is needed without the photo being distorted and look elongated? I am using Photoshop CS3.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI remember that you used to be able to specifically pick out individual cut edges to project to a 2D sketch. Maybe it was 2010? However, I come across this issue again and again since the new 2011 and now 2012 where I must project all cut edges. I can no longer figure out how to just project the ones I want. This can be every frustrating when dealing with complex shapes. Is this no longer possible?

I´m building a solid in inventor 2012 and I exported the model to ANSYS for Finite element analysis. The problem is that ANSYS
don´t recognize the solid as one part only and also can't assume connection between some lines and areas. I want to merge a part with inventor, so inventor can export the model as a solid 1 part. In solid works there is the option to merge a file when I save a file for exporting. How can I merge a single solid in inventor 2012?
Can i flatten something like You can find on the pic. ( this one is from CATIA ) or something like this. Not everything, just surface by surface. When i draw similar thing, i had problem, because i dont know how to flattern single surface, All of them are curved.

Works fine, and is fairly simple, but the problem I'm having is if I press the escape key after starting the command, but before making my selection, I'm not able to start the command again.
I realize from my searching that using the Selection (Simple) sample allows for an interrupt, with some modification, was just wondering if there was something similar for this simpler selection option.
I design press tools. Is there any ways in inventor 2012, where I can have only one common sketch in zero height and extrude profiles in different heights. Like plate no 1 @100 to 120mm (in vertical axis. A 20mm thick plate placed at 100mm above zero plane.) and plate no 2 in 150 to 175mm height and so on.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am working on a project where several holes in a sheet metal part will need to be cut as "knockouts". In previous years, either an engineer or the laser cutter programmer would set up the machine to partially cut a circle, but leave a gap to hold the knockout in place (basically a 340 degree arc).
Now that we are using Inventor, is there a way that we can create these features so that they show up in a dwg as a single line? It must be a single line; some of the holes are very small and if the laser makes more than one pass it could affect the integrity of the feature.
The closest I have gotten to accomplishing this is a surface extrusion on the folded part. When I send it to an .idw file, the line appears in the folded model, but I need it to appear in the flat pattern.
We have some weird printer issues here and i'm wondering if there is a config option within the print manager to set for simplex or duplex printing. I've looked in programming help and couldn't find anything as well as googling it. Looking for a oDrgPrintMgr.Duplexprinting=NO or something similar.Â

I had always thought that these were two seperate things. After I read this, I noticed in my .ipj that the Inventor Materials Library is listed under both Appearance and Materials.
I tried copying the "InventorMaterialLibrary.adsklib" but that did not work when I tried to add it under my materials library in the ipj.... It said "No Materials are available". HOW to go about creating a single library that contains both materials and appearances?

View 6 Replies View RelatedFirst, is there a way to add a new part to an assembly and it only be added to the active Level of Detail (and the Master, of course)? It is adding a significant source of potential error when adding a part to an assembly when you have to make sure to go back and change the status of a newly added part in each Level of Detail.
Secondly, is there a better solution than using Levels of Detail in the first place? We typically have assemblies that are in a few stages: 1) an empty shell 2) shell with ballast 3) shell with ballast and fill material. I have started using Levels of Detail to suppress components at each of those 3 stages because it is important that we have accurate weights for each stage. Our assemblies are not terribly large so memory usage is not really a problem, and I have read on Levels of Detail it is usually useful in a memory management situation.Â
Lastly, is there any good reason to not be able to save a Level of Detail when there is a positional representation active?

I've got a Library setup called "Vendor CAD" and it's referenced in all my project templates and most existing project IPJ's. I'm thinking of re-organizing my server and actually creating a CAD drive and moving all these files to an area protected from the non-CAD users.
Anyway, once I move the files, is there a way that I can batch change the existing IPJ's to refer to the new path? There's about 70 or so files, so it's not monumental, but I'd really like to not do it manually if possible.
Also - please note, I'm a single user, so I'm not using vault at all.

How to save IDW's with multiple sheets in to 1 single CAD file
I have IDW's whith lots of sheets and when saved to cad, I got multiple files and I always end up doing copy paste to create a single file
I have a question regarding parameter naming. A good number of my parts are made to standards with different size classes. ( AS, MS, JIS etc )
In these parts the dimensions are given with a single letter designation ( A, B, C etc ). Unfortunately, Inventor does not allow some ( a good number actually ) letters to be used as a single digit parameter. Until now I've been using "DimA", "DimB" etc. but I'd like to find a way to use just A, B, C .... just as it is on the prints.
I have a door with 3 of the same handle. I have a program in which the user selects 1 of the handles to turn it into a keyed handle. Now, this all works but the problem is that all of the 3 regular handle instances will be replaced with the keyed handle.

I've derived an assembly into a part file. On inserting an i feature, Why can't I select a face of the single composite body?
You can create a sketch on a face, but not insert an i feature on a face.
I work for a company that does not use Vault. Yet. We have 8 Inventor Users which I will categorize as beginner to novice. My question is: is there a way to insert a bolted assembly from the CC and have it save those pieces to the individual project file. All of our project files are set up as single users so when you insert a bolt on one computer it won't show up on another users station. I could've sworn there was an option to do this, but can't locate it. We do not have the CC on our server and I am currently working on getting IT to do that, but these things can take some time.

A simple problem of an M6 bolt in single shear as in the image below. I am using the formula in image to calculate the shear stress. The diameter (being an M6 bolt) is 6mm and hence radius is 3mm with a shear force of 1000 N being used. Using the formula in the image below and the figures above, I calculate the shear stress in the bolt to be 35.4 MN/m^2 or 35.4 MPa if you prefer.
My problem is that when I simulate this problem in Inventor 2013 stress analysis the results (for any kind of stress analysis; Von Mises, 1st and 3rd principal, all the planes etc...) are way way off what the hand calculation is, ranging from 160 MPa to around 800 MPa.how to set this example up in Inventor correctly so that you get the same (or near enough) result.
I'm trying to erase all of a single colour from an image. I use the colour range select to choose the colour (orange) however when I erase, it seems to erase an underlay underneath colours (esp yellow) in unselected areas.

I'm desiging a banner for a website and a big concern of mine is that the sidebar should fade into the black default background of the website.
It's a single layer, the image is 32 x 346 pixels and I'd like to know how to blend the bottom quarter or so of the multicolor sidebar to the default black.
Is there a plug in similar to photoshop that allows for a full cut out of a single item in a image?
If not is there a thread that shows a simple process to do so?
How do I know which collectios my single image is in? Is it in one collection? Is it ten colelctions? How can i find out? If I click a single image, it doesnt highlight all the possible locations the image resides in. Am I missing something?
