I need to add an additional font into Inventor 2013. Font is properly installed and it is inside the Windows font`s list. However, it does not appear in Inventor font`s list (for instance, in Microsoft Word it works).

I need to convert a bunch of drawings into an older cad program (using dxf12...long story) and the symbols don't translate. Thinking another font (such as gdt_____.ttf or gdt_IV25.ttf) might work. There's probably a registry hack somewhere, just don't know where.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been using a macro to create PDFs from inventor drawings with the translator for many years now, I started in a new company and it is creating invalid PDF files. So when I try to create the PDF manually by clicking on Save copy As, I am getting this error :

As you can see the font has no name so I can't install any missing font. I found out that this error occurs only in drawings created from the company template wich I believe was created years ago. If I use any other template from inventor everything is ok.
I noticed just lately, if I update the height of the text in my IDW through Styles Editor, not all the text in the document updates? Why would this be? All the text is under the text style "Instruction Text", but when I update the text height in the Instruction text style, only some of the text updates and I have to manually update all the rest?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAt my office we use RomanS font on all ACAD drawings. We control the thickness of the font by giving it a color, and that color gives it a thickness based upon our pen styles.
In Inventor I can find no such way to do this. The only option is to make it Bold. The Bold version is still not thick enough for our drawing standards. I dont want to use a different font. I want to keep it the same for aesthetic and continuity with all drawing reasons.
I also found out that by using the RomanS_IV25 font, that it shows up Bolder than just RomanS. However I want the text to be thicker than what RomanS_IV25 makes it.
There is also the secondary issue of when I use the Export to PDF feature while in an .idw, Inventor seems to disregard that any font is BOLD, and it makes it all regular thickness. I found that if I print and select a PDF writer as the printer, I dont have this issue, but this added step is an inconvenience.
I've a problem with "DWGtoPDF"-Plotter of Acad2013. I give the textstyle "arial" in Acad and plot it to PDF. In the PDF-Sheet i see the Fontname "ArialMT" in the document-options. I want to give the PDF's away and fear, that he gets an error while opening.

I am doing a drawing on inventor and everything is going great except for the fact that the dimensions are hard to read because they are so small. Is there any way to make the font for the dimensions bigger.

Reason I ask is b/c I had to change fonts from RomanS to RomanD, b/c the former font wouldn't print clearly enough for the shop and customer to read it (both in pdf and dwg/dxf).
The problem is, RomanD has DOUBLE SPACING as default, instead of the usual single spacing. I can't get the "Styles" editor to change the spacing in the VIEW LABELS and WELD SYMBOLS.
We have created 100's of drawings with inserted sketched symbols that has text which has been formatted with the font RomanS. Now that we have switched to DWF published documents, the font prints very light compared to Tahoma.
I was able to obtain all the text styles programatically and update the style to Tahoma. Unfortunately, updating the style does not effect text becuase the text was originally overriden to not use a text style.
Is there anyway via API to update the text in a sketched symbol to point it back to a Text Style?
In the Autodesk Inventor drawing (.idw) I am unable to change the font size when i dimension a hole and thread. I have tried going into "Edit Hole Note" and "Text" when you right click on the dimension.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to extrude some text with the font type "CommercialScript BT". In Inventor 2011 this was not a problem. In Inventor 2012 and 2013 I get the error:
Create extruded feature failed
Part4: Errors occurred during update
Extrusion3: Could not build this Extrusion
Self-intersecting loop found in this profile. Remove the intersection by adding a sketch point at curve intersections or by changing non-profile geometry to construction geometry.
Is there a way to solve this? I have tried to extrude other fonts without any problem. I can also extrude one single letter with the font "CommercialScript BT" without any problem but as soon as I writes a word I get the error.

How to make a macro that changes the font for a specific Text Style. The name of the Text Style is eg. "3mm", which I want to change from RomanS to Verdana.
I have a query. How do I change the color and font size of the RMC menu? I am using Autodesk Inventor 2012 Suite. I find it quite small and hard to see.
I have attached an image of it.
I am engraving a company logo on to the outside of a round tube with a custom font. There are two boxes of text that I am engraving. The first box works just fine with the "Emboss" tool. The second line works fine when the "% Stretch" parameter in the text edit window is left at 100%. When I change the "% Stretch" to 85%, I get the "Self-intersecting loop found in this profile" error message. I get this error message when I try stretching it to 115% as well. I changed the font to a standard font and I was able to emboss the text no matter the "% Stretch" value.
The bottom line is Inventor will not emboss text that has a custom font and a modified stretch percentage. This line of text must be stretched to match the company logo.
Last week I installed a new True Type Font in Windows, so that our drawing title blocks comply to our company standards. I noticed that when checked in into the Vault, the title block containing the new font doesn't display correctly. It shows the new font, but it's distorted; it's bigger, and the letters are too close to eachother. When printing from the Vault, this doesn't change, it's exactly what Vault shows. (See attachments). Also when publishing from within Inventor (File --> Export --> Export to DWF) the font gets distorted.
Posted this message in the Vault-forum, but according to Autodesk it's an Inventor related issue.
Our non-Cad-people are complaining about this, because it's non-compliant to our standards... How can I correct this matter?

I needed a specific Adobe font engraved on a nameplate.
I purchased and installed the font and it is available to me in other applications.
I went to use it within my sketch and it didn't display as being available.
Do I need to do something other than install the font on my machine to use it within my model?

Is there any way to create a single line stick type font in inventor. Everything comes in as a box type which is not ideal for selecting geomety once imported into cam software for machining/engraving. The model text will be extruded/embossed, but it it possible to get single line text in a dwg or idw that will import into cam software. It would be nice to be able to import the text from a inventor dwg,idw to a different level in mastercam to save time from having to redraw all the text in the cam software.

I am trying to change the font style in every text definition in all my sketch symbols in one go. Actually I have started it based on only a selection set but I would be happy with just all symbols too. Below is where I got to, I am stuck on the For Each line to cover each text box in the symbol. I was looking to change the fonts in a drawing for the Dimensions and Symbols that might have been inserted in the Dimension text entries.
This can be done manually bu editing the dimentions text after placemement, but I was ooking to set this as a default.. I cannot see where exactly this is controlled in the Styles Manager - I am only able to change the Dimension text font but the diameter symbol font is always on AIGDT.
I was therefore looking for an iLogicvb code that could do the trick, but I am not able to even change the dimension fonts... The code runs with no errors but nothing gets updated in the drawing...

View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter opening a file from another designer, this Chinese font has taken over my "omens – regular" font file. Anytime I use it, it converts to this font and each time I need to change a font weight, I must do it manually. As you can imagine, I use our company font all day so this slows me down quite a bit. Have you heard of this? It seems like some sort of font virus. I've researched removing it, yet can't seem to find the original font file to get rid of, which is even weirder."
We tried moving the font family to the trash, emptying the trash, rebooting the machine, and re-adding the font family and it still is happening.
I had posted in another thread about wanting to clean up a signature and make it look more font like. I tried that and it seemed to be pretty difficult due to the amount of random in a hand written signature.
So I think I'd like to approach this from the other direction. I have a font I like but I don't want it to look like the font (way too common). Is there a way to alter the font (not the entire font set or even to create a new font but just for a one word Logo)?
I'd ideally like to connect two of the letters and also modify the shapes of the letters just a bit.
