AutoCAD Inventor :: Drawing DWG Outputs Broken Files?

Feb 27, 2012

The basic save, when making an inventor drawing....

Produces a file that is a Black Panel, to Every other program than inventor... (Tried 5 so far, some just fail to open)

REALLY basic thing that is failing... is it really a proprietary file they "called" .dwg?

Or is there some setting I have on?

AutoCAD Inventor :: WriteDataToFile Outputs Incorrect Drawing Sheet Titles While Writing To DWF

Apr 26, 2013

I created a Multi Sheet drawing file.(.idw)While the file to DWF format with WriteDataToFile, the Title Block shows wrong Sheet number. For a 5 Sheet drawing, the output DWF files contain following Titles:

1 of 2
2 of 3
3 of 4
4 of 5
5 of 5

Whereas expected titles should be:

1 of 5
2 of 5
3 of 5
4 of 5
5 of 5

Interestingly, if I create a multisheet Drawing and Activate all sheets one by one before saving it.The DWF files outputted show correct Titles.Hence in the first case, I used Activate() on all sheets before writing them with WriteDataToFile. But could not get correct Titles.

VideoStudio :: X2 Outputs Corrupted HDV Files?

Oct 24, 2010

When I render a project selecting an “HDV” setting, the result is corrupted. Only about 40% of the image height is displayed. The bottom 10% of the image is inverted to the top, followed by the next 30%, and the balance (the top of the image) is absent. (Audio is normal.) No difference whether I play these files on the PC or on a PS3.

I am using VideoStudio Pro X2. My source files are video only. I do not use transitions or titles.

I capture the video files with a Canon Vixia HF200. They are MTS files, ranging in size from 10MB to 300MB each. I download them to a Dell Dimension 4600 using a USB 2.0 port.

I create smart proxy files and I am able to edit them normally.

Project properties:
·Duration = 5 to 10 mins
·NTSC drop frame (29.97 fps)
·MPEG files
·24 bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
·Lower Field First
·(DVD-NTSC), 16:9
·Video data rate: Variable (Max. 8000 kbps)
·LPCM Audio, 48000 Hz, Stereo

I am able to burn them to a DVD normally. Until sometime in March 2010, I also was able to create HD video files normally. Those old projects had the same properties as above. Those old files still play normally. But if I create a new HD video file now, it is corrupted.

Output format = “create video file,” and “HDV 720 – 30p”

Output Properties:
·MPEG files
·24 bits, 1280 x 720, 29.97 fps
·Frame-based
·(MPEG-2) (Transport stream), 16:9
·Video data rate: 18300 kbps
·Audio data rate: 384 kbps
·MPEG audio layer 2, 48 KHz, Stereo

Error Codes = none

This problem affects all “HDV” and “Blu-ray” output formats. Other output formats are OK. The files burn to DVD OK. (I have not tried burning a AVCHD disk lately.)

I downloaded and installed the latest version of DirectX using the link in one of the “Announcements” at the top of this board. This did not solve the problem. (In fact, now if I render a file using HDV 720-30p it does not show at all, and no audio.)

I downloaded and installed the patch for VS Pro X2. This did not solve the problem.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Linking Sheets Between Drawing Files?

Nov 5, 2012

I have an assembly drawing made with 2 parts in it.  I have the assembly drawing as Sheet 1 and each part also in the file as Sheet 2 and Sheet 3. What I have a problem with is that when I change or update the original files for Sheets 2 and 3 it doesn't update the sheets in the assembly drawing.  Is there a way to keep these files connected.  I need to have the standard sheets for filing and part designation, but when production call for the assembly to be needed, the assembly (Sheet1) with the Attached part drawings (Sheets 2 & 3) hit the production floor. Without them linked a mistake will be made.  There are to many engineers in my department and we all make production changes to parts and if they are not linked bad things will happen.  I am just trying this out, we have a lot of assemblies that will be great for the production if I can get all the part and assembly files to work together and print at the same time from on file.

I am using Inventor 2012 if that matters.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Changing Out VBA Code In Drawing Files

Feb 27, 2012

We have about 1000 drawings with VBA code that copies information from the title block into the drawing file custom properties.  We have done this to get the information into a ACAD block to meet our clients requirements. It is an autosave routine so it runs whenever the file is saved in Inventor.  We would like to make a change to the VBA code so we need to replace the autosave routine in the file with another.

Manual steps are:

Open the file

Enter VBA editor

Delete the autosave routine (without exporting)

Import the new autosave routine

Exit the VBA editor

Save and close the file

I'm sure we would write a routine to do this.  However the effort from scratch may be more that just manually processing the files.

Currently running IV 2010.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Different LandXML Format Outputs - Multiline And Single Line?

Mar 4, 2012

I have been outputting surfaces from Civil 3D 2012 using the LandXML export function. Some of the XML files that are output the data is on a single line and some of the outputs are on multiple lines.

Not a major issue as they both import back into C3D ok but within my office we edit the XML file slightly inorder to get it into another software package and require the multi line format.

The only difference I can see is the size of the data used to create the surface! All drawings have the same LandXML export settings..All surfaces have been created using a combination of point groups, breaklines etc..

AutoCAD Inventor :: Broken Context Menu?

Feb 28, 2012

One of my users has been complaining that his "right click stops working".  I have verified the problem myself, and find it very odd. It seems to be exclusive to his machine, which is a Windows XP 32 bit, I think with 4GB RAM and a decent gaming graphics card running IV 2012.

After he's been working about half of the day he suddenly is unable to right click and bring up his context menu.  He then has to save his work and reboot his machine.  After this he'll be good again for a few hours.

I asked him if he can bring up his context menu on other applications when IV's stops working.  He didn't know but said he would try it the next time he has the problem.

I also asked him if he's using a 3 gig switch.

I also booted windows 7 64 bit into safe mode and check device manager to make sure no broken drivers or anything like that.  Some times it will work for a few min then start graying out my screen again.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Broken View Display

Oct 4, 2012

I am experincing an issue with display quality when using broken views in Inventor 2013 drawings.

After adding the break to any view in the drawing, part geometry and draft items in all views disappear/reappear upon zooming in and out on the drawing.  The entities are still there (they can be highlited and selected), but they are not displayed.

If the view is deleted, or the break removed from the view, the problem goes away.

This seems to be related to the software because both myself and a co-worker are experiencing the same thing while using competely different hardware configurations.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Pulling In Parameters Of Content Center Files Into Drawing

Aug 17, 2012

I’m looking to do a drawing of a content center file that has a table associated with it. I’m looking to do a table much like the general table option that pulls in parameters of a std. part. I understand that content center files have no intelligence to thread data but If there is no easy way of doing that I may need to pull in an excel sheet that has the data I need.

Ultimately I would like a table that has the part #, “Dim A”, “Dim B”, etc. that links to text dimensions on the content center part view in the drawing.

The reason I want it to be a content center file is that I have a couple hundred parts that only differ by one or two dimensions and don't want to have to go through that many drawings to update and make changes to.

I am using Inventor 2012 Pro

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Choose Best Hydrology Method Based On Available Data / Desired Outputs?

Nov 11, 2013

I am in case to model a stormwater network contain ditches with irregular sections, open channels and closed pipes in SSA. I do not have access to IDF curves for the Project area. We got a weather station in site which is giving us continuous data from last 3 months till now. At this stage we just decided to use certain Rainfall intensity (mm/hr).

We got some check points to check the turbidity. What I need to know after analyse is i.e what is the flow at these points at 6:00 pm if we experience the rainfall from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm with 20 mm/hr rainfall intensity.

So my concerns are with these available basic data, which method is suitable? and as long as we approach more valued data from in site weather station then which method will be the best.   If i want to input time of concentration manually for each subbasin then how can i input TC of pipes or channels in SSA? URL....

where MATT said: "SSA does not calculate the Standard-Step method. The Rational Methods (including modified, and DeKalb) all compute the runoff to the inlet or junction. As soon as runoff enters the system, continuity and momentum calculations take over. SInce you are using Steady State Qin = Qout, so no routing occurs on pipes."

how do i understand the flow in certain points i.e 2 hrs after the rainfall is finished if I can not define TC for pipes or channels?

Why did this break in 2013 ?   and is there a patch to fix it ?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Healing Chain Centerline That Has Broken / 2012

Nov 1, 2011

how to heal a chained centreline between a row of hole features?

Here is my current work practice...

I have a panel with a row of hole features, they are not an array as the pitch between holes typically varies.

I create a chain of centres along the row.

I copy the panel and drawing to make a similar part but I remove one of the holes from the middle of the row.

Now the chain centreline is broken, obviously missing a feature and I cannot find a way to heal the centreline unless I delete and recreate it.

There is also the switcharound too where I add a hole within the row.I typically have to do this for nearly 60 similar panels.
