I opened Inventor and on the ribbon there are only lines and boxes.
Its happening a few machines but not all in a lab.
I did download a patch last week, could this be the cause ??
I wanted to go through all of the Essentials videos for Inventor (URL... ) but every single link listed for the Essentials is broken. Is there another place I can find them?

Here is my current work practice...
I have a panel with a row of hole features, they are not an array as the pitch between holes typically varies.
I create a chain of centres along the row.
I copy the panel and drawing to make a similar part but I remove one of the holes from the middle of the row.
Now the chain centreline is broken, obviously missing a feature and I cannot find a way to heal the centreline unless I delete and recreate it.
There is also the switcharound too where I add a hole within the row.I typically have to do this for nearly 60 similar panels.
I am having PDS Ultimate 2012 and working on inventor. when i open a file or open a new template ribbon freezes means menu bar doesn't work properly,if i change the ribbon appearance it doesn't update also i cannot switch between the menu bar tabs and if i turn on the visibility of the datum planes it doesn't show on the screen.But when i refresh the windows everything works sometimes. i have installed SP1 and even repaired inventor.

The ribbon layout has changed by itself so that it now displays smaller icons and I have to click on drop down arrows to access sub menus - I had it correct displaying the icons with the sub menus next to them but it seems to have changed.
I have worked through ALL the options available in the ribbons appearance etc. and this doesn't change them.

I have a part that when I adjust its length additional fabs are needed. Now in my idw for this part I want to secure the break lines on the part at a exact distance from the end / each other to display these fabs. Is there a way to parameterize or set the break lines so they adapt to the change in length and move accordingly?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am running 2012 inventor ultimate and when I'm in assemblies quite often the screen goes blank and starts blinking or screen goes completely bright red. I have to force shut down and re-boot. I have discussed this with dell and they have replaced the video card, they have done patches updates etc. to no avail. My computer is an M6500 64 bit with a nividia graphics card running windows 7. very high end computer and very powerful. I am also using a 3D connexion mouse. I should also mention that the screen only blinks and crashes while undocked. While docked the only problem I have is locking up occasionally.

While i was working on a drawing my AutoCAD session locked up and terminated the program, not thinking anything of it i just restarted ACAD and started working on the same drawing. I noticed the ribbon looks different and now all the command buttons are not showing up under the tabs they are ALL in dropdown windows now. I don't know what happened to the original ribbon setup but it is definitely not what it used to be. Attached below are pics of what i am referring to. The first picture is what it used to look like, the second and third pictures are what they look like now.

new Array command in 2012...
On a clean install without importing the users settings, the ribbon changes to to the array menu when the command is selected but if we import settings from a previous release it doesnt work.
All the other contextual menus like text editor and hatch menus work fine, seems to be just Array (I guess because its the only new one?)
Is there a way to get it working? I checked CUI and it appears under both Tabs and contextual Tab States, the settings seem the same as the others that are working?
I have a question about sheet name field, can it be broken into 2 or 3 lines?
Our office has huge text size for drawing name, which can not be changed to a smaller one (you know the politic craps about standards).
So I wonder if there is a way to break the Sheetname field to 2,3 or 4 lines to accommodate this. So far the field is set to have one single line at best. It was good for "floor plan" but not good for "floor plan and etc, etc...."
Tried to animate in new maya? If I make a simplest animation like 24 frames long, where is a skeleton with 1 root and 3 more bones...so:
1-st frame - starting pose
24-th frame - starting pose
and then somewhere at frame 12 change position of 3 bones and set a keyframe
Starting pose goes mess... I've checked this behaviour under Mac OS and Windows XP. it is the same broken. is it a new feature which I simply don't know how to control?
After archiving out of 2012 SP3 and then un-unarchiving into 2012 SAP2 SP3, could i edit clips (with history)? For example, action-rendered clips, flame fx-rendered clips, etc.

Ihave windows 8 consumer preview and i installed autocad 2012 but when i open autocad 2012, ribbon dont appear, when i write the command ribbon but appear a message like this " Unhandled exception has ocurred in a component in your application. View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using fcp hotkey , by default the 'drag copy (single frame)' is mapped to ' alt-c' . Normally this will work fine. But in some case where a cfx clip is selected or my time indicator is parked on top of a cfx clip in active timeline , then do 'alt-c' will give an error message "connectfx cannot be modified inside the containers. Proceed with edit ? "
So to solve this temporarily, i have to first deselect the cfx clip or move the current positioner on top of a non-cfx clip.
I have been working on a document and reached a point where whenever I entered regular text, it showed as an outline of broken red lines (like a regular guidline). Changing fill and color etc has no effect. I can open a new document and enter text with normal results,but not in the existing document.

I want to be able to add my custom toolbar buttons from the 2006 to the 2012 LT custom Ribbon Tabs & Panels. I have figured out how to make the custom ribbon, tab and panel. I just haven’t figured out what I need to do to get the old stuff to where I can add them to the panels.

I have created a template file but whenever I open and display data in AutoCAD Map 3D 2012 it does not apply to the opened data from Oracle 10g. Infact, it change every time I open the data from database!

I am completely new to AutoCAD. I have been given a 2D DXF file with the design of an ion source. I have removed large parts of the design as I only need to electrode shapes.
I need to import the electrodes as a 2D DXF into my code to run simulations with them. However...
The code can read layers, and it searches for a closed loop within a layer and uses that to shape its electrodes. So I have isolated each electrode and saved them.The issue I'm having is the code finds no closed loops. Further investigation let me to the close, fillet, and boundary commands. Which I assumed would do the trick. However after a number of hours I am no closer to my goal.
I have isolated the problem to be linking a semi-circle to 2 lines. Because if I remove the semi-circle and replace with a straight line code will happily detect a closed loop. I have converted the entire thing into 1 polyline, and then to make sure its closed I have used the boundary command to create a polyline outline of the shape.
Even then, it is apparently not a closed loop. I was wondering if there is a glaringly obvious mistake I am making here, or if it comes down to resolution within the code. I'm looking into part 2
I'm using autocad for mac. I've just saved a pdf in illustrator as an autocad dwg and opened it in autocad. It shows up but is not visible in my paperspace.
I've made sure it's on in the viewport. I've even tried to plot from modelspace but the lines don't show up in the plot. They are visible in the modelspace. They have all imported on the same layer, though some are different colour - some of them do show up, but not many.
