AutoCAD Inventor :: How To Add Custom IProperty To Parts List
Jan 16, 2012I am trying to add a custom iProperty from my assembly to the drawing parts list. According to the help wiki, I'm supposed to click Column Chooser > New Property > Custom Properties List (click here to see the relevant wiki page--also see the attached screenshot called Custom Property Help.png).
When I click on new property, there is nothing about Custom Properties List.

Oct 31, 2011How to create a list of values to chose from for an iProperty? I can create a multi-value parameter and set the iproperty equal to it, then create a form that calls up the parameter...but there has to be a better way. I'd like to create a template with iProperties that are standardized. For example, we have a bunch of labs in our business. I created a custom iproperty for the labs (so that this property could be searched in vault). However, if I stop there, users will find all sorts of ways to botch the lab names. Therefore, when you run a search for a lab, you may not find all the files associated with that lab due to a mispelling. Forcing values chosen from the iProperty list would prevent this from happening.
I was hoping there would be a way to do this with iLogic forms, but you can't create a list for iProperties...at least I don't think you can.

Feb 14, 2012In the parent assembly a text iproperty exists called "child list". I would like to set this value via an ilogic rule that does the following:
For each child in the assembly where paremeter "include" = true, add the value of iproperty "filename" to a comma delimited list that will become the value of text Iproperty "child list" in the parent assembly.
The result should look something Like iproperty"child" = "filename1,filename2,filename3,filename4, etc..."
The rule must iterrogate all children, both parts and assemblies, and must go beyond 1st level children.
The output does not have to be comma delimited but must be delimited with something (eg tab, :, etc..)
The number of children is unknown
Is there a character limit imposed on a text iproperty?
AutoCAD Inventor :: Professional 2012 - Internal Error In The Mesher
Jan 9, 2012Just installed 2012 Pro last week and tried to run FEA today. Everything else is running fine. Started with existing model and had this error. Went to a simple part with rectangle sketch 6x1x.125thk and still receive error. Found multiple issues with mesher errors in forum. So I removed all Autodesk products, cleaned registry, turned off antivirus and reinstalled software and SP1 and still receive error.

Aug 7, 2012I'm looking to see if there is a way to link the revision number to a custom iProperty in the same part. Our laser requires a specific output for programming, but I only want this to show up on actual lasered parts as we don't need it on parts that are sawcut. Basically what I would like to do is create a custom iProperty that I can link to the title block for that reads RV:<Revision>. Is there a way to do this? I'd rather not create a separate drawing template for lasered parts as we've got about 100 templates for our various customers the way it is.

Feb 4, 2012I'm attempting to get Smoke 2012 SP1 running on Mac OS X 10.7.2. After installation, I cannot get the application to launch -- instead I get a "DlVideo Error: No video list" error and then exit.
Hardware specs are attached, in short 2 x 6 core Mac Pro, 24GB RAM, Quadro FX 4800 and Kona 3G. This is built on a clean install of 10.7.2 using the Apple video driver for the 4800. The display is an Eizo ColorEdge CG303W, attached to the 4800.
I would like to install the 4.1.28 CUDA drivers to enable the Mercury playback engine (as this machine will probably also run Premiere Pro), however I'm trying to keep it as simple as possible until I can get Smoke running.
A Euphonix MC Transport and MC Color will be added to the station, however they are not currently attached.
My workstation name is bc118-s001. I'm using an external license server (macnv3), which is running properly.
Storage is currently set to the local disk, which I know is sub-optimal. Ultimately the storage volume will be a fiber-attached TerraBlock 24D, however I'm upgrading that device from 4.6.4 to 5 before I put the unit into production, and would rather not store any data on it before the upgrade.
I've attached the application and shell logs for your reference. The following lines are only the errors from the app.log:

Mar 17, 2013I am running 2012 inventor ultimate and when I'm in assemblies quite often the screen goes blank and starts blinking or screen goes completely bright red. I have to force shut down and re-boot. I have discussed this with dell and they have replaced the video card, they have done patches updates etc. to no avail. My computer is an M6500 64 bit with a nividia graphics card running windows 7. very high end computer and very powerful. I am also using a 3D connexion mouse. I should also mention that the screen only blinks and crashes while undocked. While docked the only problem I have is locking up occasionally.

Apr 22, 2013I am fishing around for information that will abstract my macro one more level. I coded an excel macro to run the following statement on a given set of drawings:

Yielding text files which I consolidate into Excel to generate a full attribute extraction of the drawing set. My question concerns the extraction template file used in the ATTEXT command (shown as ExtTemplate in the code above). As it stands now, the Excel user must provide the attribute tags they want to extract and then I generate the proper extraction template in the background. My goal would be to eliminate this step from the user side and simply extract all attributes in the drawing instead of a designated few.
If you know a better way to do this using the ATTEXT command or a way to do this without the ATTEXT command at all, I would be grateful to hear it. From my current perspective however, I believe I would need to query the drawing to get a list of all attribute tags it contains, then configure the extraction template to use all the tags from that query. I cannot figure out a way to generate this list of tags. So, that is my question
AutoCAD 2010 :: Xref Is Appearing Twice In List Under Two Different Names
Dec 5, 2012I have a drawing (let's call it "main.dwg") with an external reference (let's call it "file.dwg") as the bulk of its content. The drawing "main.dwg" has 16 layout tabs, each with several mview windows.
Needing to make some changes to "main.dwg" for the first time in a couple months, I just opened it and was having issues with freezing out layers in the mview windows. It turns out that "file.dwg" appears twice in the xref list under two different names (let's say "File 1" and "File 2") with the same target path.
Besides the disorganization created by the double xref, it makes freezing layers in the mview windows twice as complicated, since each layer now appears twice in the layers list. For example, since layer 0 appears in "file.dwg", "main.dwg" contains the layers "File 1|0" and "File 2|0".
Detaching "File 2" in the xref list removes both references. Retargeting "File 2" to a different file retargets both references. Detaching both and reinserting the xref resets the layer freeze settings in every mview window, making every layer visible again.

I want the name of the sheet to appear in the title block, but I cannot seem to find the "Sheet Name" property anywhere. Can it be added to the list of the drawing or sheet properties, or is there another way to achieve this?. I do not want to have to use Custom Properties, and manually re-enter the names of each sheet.
