AutoCAD Inventor :: Make Various Size Bolts
Mar 8, 2012I`m going to make some different size bolts,nuts and washers and instead of creating each from scratch or from content center can i use either parameters,excel spreadsheet or ilogic to save me some time.Now i have never used any of the above features so am asking for some assistance and guidance in which would be the best way to do these tasks.
I make a sample bolt with Inventor 2012 version.Would this be easy to use any of the above mentioned to simply just change sizes and update the part and features to the new size?

1. Have i matched the thread size correctly.I made the bolt thread the same size as the nut thread size
2. I see these in the Content centre but if i want to make my own nuts & bolts with various sizes.I can then just select the required sizes
3. How do you name your nuts & bolts.
AutoCAD Inventor :: Bolted Connection Won't Show The Bolts?
Mar 8, 2011Bolted connection, clevis pin and bearing are all not working for me. I can go through the steps of selecting the start plane and then the circular reference and the termination point. That is all successful but the bolt doesn't appear, whether I use a clevis pin or a bearing, I get the same result.
Working with sheet metal or FrameMaker all work fine. My content center shows all the bolts, clevis pins and bearings. The content center seems to be working fine. I'm using inventor 2011.

May 29, 2013We just upgraded from Inventor 2012 to 2014. When placing nuts and bolts in an assembly in 2012, you were able to select a hole and it would automatically size the bolt to the correct diameter. You could also select if you wanted it to fill in all holes of that size, on a face, with the bolt or you could just place one component.
I do not remember if it is just a setting that allows it that i can't find or if it is a bug and the drop function is not working properly, is there anything special that i need to do?
AutoCAD Inventor :: Bolts In Bolted Connection Missing?
Jun 18, 2013Myself and my coworkers have noticed that some times bolted connections will be missing a bolt. The bolt in question will appear again if you edit the bolted connection and hit ok and let it rebuild. But then another bolt in a different bolted connection will disappear. I just went back and forth between updating two sets of bolted connections and each time I updated one a bolt in the other disappeared. It's almost like there is a limit to how many bolts the assembly will show at once. The assemblies in question don't always have large numbers of bolts and other hardware though.
I'm running Inventor 2013 SP2 running Nvidia Driver Release 276.42 [8.17.12.7642], which is the last recommended driver. I've also run newer/older drives with no difference.

Sep 6, 2010I have noticed that when I place a group of bolts in to a group of existing holes the pattern of bolts seem to be free to rotate about the hole selected when creating the bolt pattern.

Feb 15, 2012I created an assembly with screws and nuts which are not from content center. When creating a section view on Drawing, screws and nuts are also sectioned, but I don't want to.
Is it possible to see entire screws and nuts in a section view?
AutoCAD Inventor :: Holes / Screws On A Rolled Plate?
Jul 17, 2013I'm modeling a band that will be screwed onto the inside of a sheet metal cylinder. The band will be rolled to the ID of the cylinder. I'm trying to model the holes in the band, and place screws into the holes. I'm not sure yet how the holes will be machined out in the shop--whether they'll be drilled or punched, made before or after the band is rolled, placed based upon degree or arc length, etc.
1. Is there a better way to model the band and its holes?
2. How can I properly and easily insert the bolt into the holes since they're no longer "perfect holes" that can be used in an "Insert" constraint.
3. How can I then pattern the bolt so I don't have to insert one into each hole?
AutoCAD Inventor :: Error When Insert Screws Into Assembly
Jun 8, 2012I get the following error when I try to insert screws into a new assembly:
Unable to successfully update the member part file. Problem occurred when setting thread data.
I click OK and the part inserts but the thread does not look right! Compare the threads on the screws on the left (shown incorrect) with those on the right!
Using Inventor 2013.

Jun 16, 2006I am attempting to find wood screws for use in one of the assemblies I am working on.
I have logged onto the Content Center as one possible resource. Is there any kind of search engine to look for parts? I can't imagine having to go through each manufacturer looking for something particlular like fasteners.
Besides Content Center, any resource for wood screws. I have looked in Grainger, McMaster Carr, PartSpec... and others. All with no success.

Jul 30, 2012In the image below, I need the C channel that the bolts are going through to section but not the nuts and bolts. In application options I have "Section standard parts" set to "Obey browser settings". In the part "document settings" I have the "participate in assembly and drawing sections" option checked, but the C channel will not section and when I right click on it in the drawing browser, the "Section participation" options are greyed out.

AutoCad :: Viewport Automatically Zooms Extents And Screws Up
Oct 19, 2011I'm using AutoCAD 2011 and here is the situtation. I create a viewport. I zoom in to the scale I want to use. Once setup i click out into paperspace all is good. However if i do not lock the viewport, the moment i click back on it, the viewport automaticly zooms extents and screws up what i was trying to show . Is there a setting somewhere that should be set from 1 to 0 or a box not checked off that i'm missing?

Aug 1, 2012I have finally decided on a monitor. My first Samsung was defective, so I returned it. I went with a Dell, which was blurry. I went back ot a Samsung because the picture quality, was, hands down, the best.
Anyway, because I've changed monitors several times, I know for certain, that I've left the "Stand Off" screws in the computer.
The hookup cable is definitely VGA.
There is a possibility that when you detached the old monitor you probably unscrewed the "Stand Off" screws as well.

Jul 26, 2012We are expanding our OEM range. I am having trouble adding the parts to our Inventor contents center. I have linked parameters like "L1 and L2" to determine the part's size. When I place this part form the contents center I do get Key Columns for L1 and L2.
However, I am only getting one size under each column. I tried setting values to the parameters before publishing the parts, but this made no difference.

Jan 13, 2011I don't want to have the original files on both laptop and desktop.
I want to make a copy of a Lightroom 3 catalog to put on my laptop so while on the move I can be geo-tagging and keywording to 8000 photographs. I don't want to drag an external drive with me. I just want to be able to work on the catalog metadata and have all the updates/changes stored there (on the laptop)(in the catalog) and then transfer the catalog back to the desktop (to the primary archive) and have all the updates/changes pushed back into the DNG's or the XMP sidecar files alongside the CR2's. These changes would be only keywording and possibly writing GPS data into them….NOT image edits (that would probally require access to the original image files)
As a test, I tried "exporting as catalog", TWO images (with the source images "unavailable"). I flash-drived the resulting catalog to my laptop. I opened the catalog in LR3 and made changes to the metadata. I tried both "saving metadata to file" and "updating DNG previews" (which would be useless anyway since I could not write data back to the missing originals) and also tried doing nothing and just closing LR, then pulling the flashdrive and plugging it into the DESKTOP.(knowing the changes are stored within the catalog itself only) I open the 2 picture catalog in LR and see the keyword updates. Hurrah!
I switch over to the master catalog. All I want to do is import the updated metadata (keywording, contrast, etc…) back into the master catalog and push the data into the original DNG or XMP. On import I select "replace: Metadata and develop settings only" (with or without "preserve old settings" checked) and click import. Voila! NOTHING HAPPENS and the updated keywords are NOT picked up.
I know that the metadata updates were carried out because they showed up when I opened it separately in LR! For some reason they don't seem to making through the import process to the master catalog…
Lightroom :: Sharing Catalog - Does Housing Catalog And Images On External Hard Drive Work
Jan 15, 2014I will be managing a small portion of a client's overall image workflow by updating their web prescence on a regular basis with new work and retagging/uploading old work. I believe this requires the catalog and the image library to be housed on an external hard drive that can travel between the two of us. We are both working on PC's with LR 5.3.
The workflow would look something like this:
Client downloads new images onto external hard drive and imports into LR "ClientCatalog" is created Flags Picks and Creates a Collection from those Picks.Hard drive is handed off to me where I open "ClientCatalog".Make suggested edits to images add detailed tags and metadata upload to various social media sites and websites return hard drive to client
Is there potential problem with this workflow? My assumption is that if everything is housed on the external hard drive then there are no worries about the catalog containing all the latest updates. Are there any "safety protocols" you would add in to this workflow (besides mirroring everythign on another hard drive)?

Dec 15, 2012I'm using Lightroom 1. I tried to merge catalogs by importing a catalog into a master catalog, but there were some problems. The one I noticed immediately was that the collections are not correct. It imported the collections, but for example one collection now has only 4 photos when the originbal had 140? How can I fix that? (Although not necessariy a problem, it seems to have the wrong number of photos imported too. It says the previous import was 3175 photos when it was more like 10,000.)

Oct 14, 2013My latest battle with PSE11 is trying to access my catalog in PSE11 via the Catalog Manager but it doesn't show up in the list.
The catalog is named My Catalog 2 is located at C:ProgramDataAdobeElements OrganizerCatalogsMy Catalog 2. It is the only catalog I use and is the one that opens up when I launch Organizer. But, for the life of me, I can't get it to show up in the Catalog Manager. The only catalog that shows up is the original catalog which is at a different location and was created when I installed PSE11 on my new computer (Thinkpad W530, Windows 8). I've tried the Custom Location option and browsing to the location, but still no dice. This catalog has thousands of pictures and was converted from my previous PSE6 catalog. How do I get the Catalog Manager to find my current active catalog?
Lightroom :: Option To Export All LR4 Catalog As A New Catalog
Nov 12, 2013i have an 8 giga LR4 catalog (about 300000 images).just installed the new LR5 and tried openning the LR4 cat in LR 5.it said it needs to upgrade, but in the middle of the prosses i had this messege: "lightroom encountered problems when trying to update the format of the catalog file and cannot use this catalog in this version of LR"
i saw that there is an option to export all my LR4 catalog as a new catalog and than import it into LR5.i haven't tried that yet since i'm worry that i might loose some info. will this process (of exporting and importing) keep all my LR settings? like develop user presets, keywords and collections?
