AutoCAD Inventor :: 2014 Placing Nuts And Bolts

May 29, 2013

We just upgraded from Inventor 2012 to 2014. When placing nuts and bolts in an assembly in 2012, you were able to select a hole and it would automatically size the bolt to the correct diameter. You could also select if you wanted it to fill in all holes of that size, on a face, with the bolt or you could just place one component.

I do not remember if it is just a setting that allows it that i can't find or if it is a bug and the drop function is not working properly, is there anything special that i need to do?

AutoCAD Inventor :: How To Name Nuts And Bolts Modeled Up

Dec 3, 2013

I have modeled up a nut and bolt.

1. Have i matched the thread size correctly.I made the bolt thread the same size as the nut thread size

2. I see these in the Content centre but if i want to make my own nuts & bolts with various sizes.I can then just select the required sizes

3. How do you name your nuts & bolts.

In the image below, I need the C channel that the bolts are going through to section but not the nuts and bolts.  In application options I have "Section standard parts" set to "Obey browser settings".  In the part "document settings" I have the "participate in assembly and drawing sections" option checked, but the C channel will not section and when I right click on it in the drawing browser, the "Section participation" options are greyed out.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Make Various Size Bolts

I`m going to make some different size bolts, nuts and washers and instead of creating each from scratch or from content center can i use either parameters, excel spreadsheet or ilogic to save me some time. Now i have never used any of the above features so am asking for some assistance and guidance in which would be the best way to do these tasks.

I make a sample bolt with Inventor 2012 version.Would this be easy to use any of the above mentioned to simply just change sizes and update the part and features to the new size?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Bolted Connection Won't Show The Bolts?

Mar 8, 2011

Bolted connection, clevis pin and bearing are all not working for me. I can go through the steps of selecting the start plane and then the circular reference and the termination point. That is all successful but the bolt doesn't appear, whether I use a clevis pin or a bearing, I get the same result.

Working with sheet metal or FrameMaker all work fine. My content center shows all the bolts, clevis pins and bearings. The content center seems to be working fine. I'm using inventor 2011.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Bolts In Bolted Connection Missing?

Jun 18, 2013

Myself and my coworkers have noticed that some times bolted connections will be missing a bolt. The bolt in question will appear again if you edit the bolted connection and hit ok and let it rebuild. But then another bolt in a different bolted connection will disappear. I just went back and forth between updating two sets of bolted connections and each time I updated one a bolt in the other disappeared. It's almost like there is a limit to how many bolts the assembly will show at once. The assemblies in question don't always have large numbers of bolts and other hardware though.

I'm running Inventor 2013 SP2 running Nvidia Driver Release 276.42 [8.17.12.7642], which is the last recommended driver. I've also run newer/older drives with no difference.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Autodrop Multiple Nuts After Autodropping Multiple Washers

Jan 26, 2012

(Inv Pro 2012, XP64, Vaulted Project and Content Center)When I'm placing hardware, the Autodrop function is really convenient.  Even better when the "multiple" pickbox is active, which from what I understand is when Inventor finds similar features on the same plane that the selected autodrop component could potentially mate to.

This is a huge time-saver, since I often have lots of bolted joints that all terminate on the same plane.  Sometimes however, even when the parts lie in the same "plane", the plane isn't contiguous in that a feature breaks it across.  No biggie, it just means I have to do two or three "multi-autodrops".

Once I put washers at the back side of the connections (which multiple works like a charm on), all of a sudden when I go to place nuts, each washer surface is now it's own plane, and multi-drop no longer recognizes all the other parts.  This can be a real pain manually placing 30 or 40 nuts at a time.

I think the "Bolted Connection" option might work, but I really don't have a need to store all those subassemblies, name them, keep them vaulted properly, etc.   That would be almost as much of a headache.

Also, most of the features that I'm connecting through are created as Hole features and as "nominal" oversized bolt holes as Inventor suggests when the "clearance hole" option is used for hole creation (not randomly extruded islands), but they aren't patterned as they don't follow a prescribed circular or rectangular pattern.

Am I missing something that I can do (like something stupid simple such as holding down the "alt" key or some crazy thing like that) that will allow inventor not just to suggest CONTIGUOUS planar features, but also CO-planar features so I can place all these nuts at once?

Short of creating a custom Content center part that consists of a nut / washer assembly I can't think of anything.  And creating and publishing the nut washer assemblies will eat up some time too, since I have about 50 different combinations (some SAE washers with normal hex nuts, some SAE washers with ESNA hex, some USS washers with jam nuts, some USS Type B washers with all-steel locknuts, etc...)

AutoCAD Inventor :: Changing Part Type From Normal To Purchased Part Like Bearings / Bolts?

Apr 11, 2013

Some times we use standard parts which we could not find in content center. We creat part ourselves. But it looks like standard part in BOM or part explorer window...

I want to change type of part to PURCHASED type and icon like other purchased parts like bearings or bolts...

Is this possible?...

It can be also assembly parts like bearings. Bearings have many parts but it looks only one part in part explorer. This is very good. I want same thing too...

AutoCAD Inventor :: Placing IParts In Assembly?

Sep 26, 2013

Subject: Inventor placing Iparts in Assembly (Autodesk Inventor 2010)

Problem:

When placing an Ipart into a project Assembly it will make a copy of that variant and place it in the same map as the Ipart.

So when variant B of Ipart A is selected it will make a copy of variant B in the same folder where Ipart A is located.

Question:

Is it possible to make a “save as” option or another similar manner to save those copies of variant B in a project map of a project assembly?

Instead of saving all the Ipart variants to a single folder. So each time a new project is started they have all the parts in the same folder.

Reason:

I am making a local library for parts that are used for repairs. These parts have many variants and some times need to be customized for a repair.

The current system keeps polluting itself causing the users to loose their parts and accidentally delete the original parts etc.

I contacted Autodesk support and theyrecommended to post this question on this forum. They did mentioned that vba programming could achieve this. I have no knowledge of this type of programming.

i have created a label in library, modified and saved.  WHERE IS THE BUTTON TO INSERT????

Maybe i have this mixed up.  Are we talking about a virtual label or a real label (textbox describing label)?

I would like to add a 1-12" plastic covered adhesive label at each connector to identify the connector. Usually we place a text box with an identifier and a table with the label data on the drawing.

This is what i am trying to do. Is this not right?  Is this the nailboard label that inventor is talking about or am i out to lunch?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Placing A Part In Assembly With Macro?

Mar 13, 2013

I have been working with macros basically making user forms to control the models. The program calls on a part that I use as an actuation template (its just a part with parameters that are then linked to the assembly contraints) then the macro will change the parameters and update the model.

What I need to do is to put in some code in the userforn initialize sub that gets the actuation template from the disk, for example: C:Other StuffActuation Template A.ipt. Then the macro places the part into the assembly. The userform then manipulates the actuation template (and the assembly model). Then when the userform is unloaded the part is deleted from the assembly.
