Oct 22, 2013I have recently encountered a problem when exporting C3D to V8 dgn. The proxy graphics are set to 1, and I'm using a 3D seed file. Once the file is exported, the dgn file size is no larger than the seed file, and I am being told that the file is completely blank. I've run a recovery, audit - everything I can think of the correct this. I even had a co-worker try and generate a dgn from the same file with the same result.

Jul 24, 2013I need to export 3dpolylines from C3D 2013 to an ERSI SHP file.
Using the mapexport command I’m able to do this, however, the lines in the shp file don’t retain the layer name and colours that are in the C3D file.
Do I need assign ‘object data’ (or something similar) to the 3D polylines before exporting the shp file.

Jun 21, 2012i need to export 7 million points from a tin surface to text file with only NEZ in comma delimited format for Surfer 9 software. right now i have the civil 3d surface. but the export to csv stock reporting tool sucks. why the hell do you open the file and why leave an empty row between data points? so it's not usable.
also i have 12gb ram at work and it can't export surface points to autocad format ran out of memory. this is with surface display showing points and just the "dot" style so it's autocad points after export. i was originally planning on using "dataextraction" command in autocad to export to csv. worked on a small batch of file. so i think may work for the bigger file. but i would never know because i can't even get the points into autocad.
also yeah i would love to simplify the surface but it's so buggy that you asked it to remove 80% of the points it only remove 100k points at most out of 7 million. so not usable.
last resort is i can program something in vb.net but not much motivation on doing so.

I currently have code to read each cell in a sheet, but unfortunately some of the Excel sheets have in excess of 5000 cells and it is taking too long to read. So I am switching to another method.
The program will check dates of TXT files and XLS file to make sure TXT files are current (if not, open and recreate TXT files).Then read the TXT files (much faster).
Where I am getting stuck is 2 places -
Get the names of each sheet in the excel file (not always a known name)
Save each sheet as separate TXT file.

I used to be able to FILE-export-render video- and choose MPEG-4 Video in the settings panel which would render my file into a small .mov file. Now in CS6 the new render video panel does not have that option. I tried the QT options in the export window and my file is hugh! The H.264 option gives me an .mp4. I put the .mp4 into my web page via Dreamweaver and my video does not play when uploaded into the sever. The video plays fine in Dreamweaver before I upload to the server. After I upload to the server I just get a Q and no video on my web page. If I render the same file in CS5 I am able to view it in my web page. Sep 11, 2012After finally getting X6 to be stable and usable I have two things I'd like to mention..
First, I've been using a 3rd party file manager called Ztree for years and one of its most wonderful capabilities is to copy paths to the clipboard which alleviates opening/saving frustrations with the typical Windoze Explorer dialogs. Anyway, one of the first problems I noticed with X6 is that Paste no longer works in the Open Drawing dialog, while it worked just fine in X5 and as far as I can remember, all previous versions. I sure would like to get that back.
My second complaint is the File/Export routine and specifically the presets. I do a lot of exporting to PNG and JPG and use multiple presets for fixed size/print resolution image output in both file formats. During the typical export session, I essentially export multiple different drawings all of which are exactly the same size/resolution in CD and in the past (X4 and prior as I recall,) was able to just hit <Enter> when the Export dialog appeared once the preset was set to the one I needed for that session.
In X6 though (and to some degree in X5,) even though the correct preset is listed, CD doesn't appear to recognize it, i.e., the math for the size/dpi conversion doesn't take place which forces me to waste time selecting "Original" or some other preset first, waiting for CD to render the new version, and THEN selecting the conversion preset that was pre-selected when I first opened the export dialog.

Feb 5, 2013Why does Exporting to DXF (any version other than 2013) fail, every single time?
First, we always get this error during the save. The save appears to finish OK in spite of the error.
But when you try to open the DXF using DWG Trueview, we get this error.
If we export out to 2013 DXF, the resulting file can be opened, but this doesn't do us much good.
(using C3D 2013 with latest SP)

Feb 8, 2013I am trying to use the "Export to pdf" function as opposed to plotting as a pdf because the "Export" function seems to make a much smaller file size. However, when I "Export to pdf" some of my layers are not showing up in the created pdf.
The pdf created when I plot to pdf looks fine. I am using the "current layout" and "current" page setup options in the "Export to pdf", so it is using the same plotting options as plot to pdf, but the "Export" function is not displaying some layers.
