AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Create Stage-storage Table With Six Closed 2D Polylines?
Nov 1, 2012I'm trying to create a stage-storage table with six closed 2D polylines. They highlight when I select them, but nothing is loading in the Table?

The stage storage report seems to calculate these features as an addition when it should be subtracting for high points.
Could I do a bounded volume and set the datum to each increment of storage? How accurate is that? If it's accurate, is there a way do generate multiple at a time instead of typing D then setting the datum, then repeating that process over and over?
The only way that seems the most accurate is to create multiple planes at different increments, add those to seperate surfaces, then a volume surface for each one comparing it to the basin. This method takes up a ton of time, especially when dealing with 50+ increments.
I see Civil3D has a Stage-Storage curve for determining volumes for incremental elevation increases for a bounded area (e.g. pond). This works well for water where the top surface is horizontal, however, i need to consider a sloping surface to duplicate a slurry discharged into a lagoon. This has a slope of 1% from the point of discharge and how i can determine the volume/height relationship considering this slope without having to do multiple grading and surface creation. The discharge point gradually moves upstream as the filling occurs to prevent the pipe becoming blocked by the slurry.
I thought about creating a 1% surface and incrementally raising it making it a comparison surface, but the 1% slope is not in a planar form, it is 1% from the discharge point in a radial direction.
How do i convert a series of polylines to one closed polygon (so i can calculate an area, hatch it, etc)?

How to create such type of drawings in autocad civil 3d.
I am trying to import a complex curve from autocad lt (in my case an airfoil), to create parts. I have drawn the curve in autocad lt as a polyline. Autocad lt treats the curve as a single object, and seems to understand it as a closed loop.
When I import the curve into Inventor lt, Inventor treats the curve as a series of unconnected line segments. What can I do in either Autocad lt or Inventor lt to get Inventor to treat the curve as a single object, so that I can then extrude it?
Basicaly I have a plan of a part of a city and I want to fill the houses with a solid hatch, I was wondering if I could do them all at once instead of picking an internal point one by one (there are a lot of them!).
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have the need to put COGO points along the vertices of multiple 3D polylines in a DWG. I know how to do this individually for each 3DPL via the "Points>Create - Miscellaneous > Polyline Vertices - Automatic" or "CREATEPTPLYLNCTRVERTAUTO" command. Need tip on how to do this in a batch format for all the selected 3D PLines in the drawing without having to select each individual 3DPL and having to hit return to enter a description for each individual vertex? I can do without having to add a description and can leave each description blank or enter the same description for each.
I'm Using C3D2013.
I have a piece of code that needs closed polylines.
I use the following selectionfilter to filter the selection so I can only select closed polylines:
Dim sf As New SelectionFilter(New TypedValue() {New TypedValue(0, "LWPOLYLINE"), New TypedValue(70, 1)})
Today I noticed that in some drawings this filter won't select all the closed polylines for me.
After some experimenting I found the 'linetype generation' property of the polylines to be the problem. If this is enabled the above filter will not let me select a closed polyline. If I disable it, there is no problem.
How can I make my code for selecting closed polylines more robust? Is there a 'TypedValue' for closed polylines with the linetype generation enabled?
I have a series of boxes or polygones that I would like the program to find the 1/2 distance and create two seperate polylines from the one object.
Example:
I have a square with pt1,pt2, pt3 and pt4 respectively. After I have ran the program it would create a diagonal from pt1 to pt3 and join the rest of the lines now to create the one polyline. Also it would do the same to create another exact polygonal shape for the other half. Thus creating two shapes of equal value from one.
I'm trying to create about 150 cross-sections, each consisting of 9 closed polylines of which I have created the coordinates. My issue is making the list of coordinates create separate polylines instead of one enormous polyline. Any way to setup the columns, perhaps with blank rows, some way of applying ASCII code, etc. to automatically break up these polylines? (even if they aren't closed that's fine, I just need to make the polylines separate.)
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust found the issue with my AC2013.
A bit of difference is that the polylines do not have to be even closed. Any polyline gives me exactly the described behaviour, which is definitely not intended. Appears still not resolved.
I need to segregate closed polylines in my drawing by area range. Ideally, I would input the number of ranges I need.
Then somehow find the smallest and largest pline area to determine the range values (rounding up to a sensble number)
Then with the ranges determined the polylines would be segregated and moved to new layers.
I've been trying to hobble together pieces but with no joy.
To workaround the missing API for creating Parcel Area Tables, I have tried the following:
1. Create a "pick point" selection set (using ObjectARX), containing the Parcel for which I want to create a table.
2. Execute the AddParcelTable command.
3. Programmatically push the Select Parcel-button and the OK button of the Create Table dialog using win32 API.
When the Select Parcel button is pressed, the label next to it displays 1 parcel(s) selected and when the OK button is pressed, Civil prompts the user to pick the upper left corner of the table, but the prompt is immediately interrupted with the message "Invalid 2D point" and the table creation is aborted...
I am trying to create a table that will incorporate info from structures and pipes. In C3d 2010 I want to make a CB chart which will show the pipe size, starting structure and invert. I would also like to include the CB rim elevation but that would be under the structure table. Is there any way I can combine the RIm elevation with the pipe table?

Is there a way to force the table and table text height to stay constant despite the scale? I can do it for Point Label Styles with an Expression. But in 2011 there is no way to build an expression for a table style.
I want to create tables in the drawing where the points are and then plot them from a drawing they're Xrefed in to. The tables are too small but zooming in doesn't make them any bigger because the scale of the viewport changes and they adjust.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI built a containment dike using the grading functions in Autocad Civil 3D. I set up the feature lines at the top toes of the embankment and graded nicely down to the original dtm. I want to use user defined contour to get the interior storage from the original dtm up to a selected elevation within the containment dike. The containment dike forms an enclosed area. I know I could use infill and add a false bottom to the embankment surface (triangulation from bottom toe of embankment across to opposite embankment) but I want to check storage from original ground dtm.
Is there a workaround method to do this without creating infill? I know I need to get down to two surfaces to get a calculation.
I have a small site where i've essentially designed a storage pond. I've cut 3.0m off the original ground at a 2:1 slope and built a berm at a 2:1 fill slope to a designed elevation. I've managed to balance the site to zero. The contour drawing I have shows elevations - which is great - however the client has asked to see the contours showing a Fill or Cut label from the original ground.

As the above mentioned, I have a drawing drawn using polylines with width from someone. The width of the line are suppose to represent area,
To put things into prospective, here is an example:
The polyline is 10 unit long and with a width of 2 unit wide. If i explode that polyline, it will become a single polyline without width. The line are suppose to represent 10 unit long and 2 unit wide; representing an area.
My question is is there a way to change the line above directly from polyline with width to a close polyline (4 x polylines) of 10 unit long and 2 unit wide.
Essentially, I'll be creating a sort of Venn diagram. So for the purposes of this exercise, let's assume it's the classic Venn diagram of three intersecting circles. But I need this to work with closed polylines, that may also have arc segments in them.
Anyway, so I have these intersecting areas, and I need to create bounding polylines for each area, and assess the number of overlaps. So, as in a Venn diagram, the areas where only one circle is present can then get shaded one color, areas where two circles are overlapping can get a different color, and the area where all three circles overlap can get a third color.
I'm clearly going to have to be converting the various boundaries to Regions, and performing some Unions. It seems I could grab all objects, convert them to Regions 2 at a time, and compare their Union'ed area to their individual area, to determine if they overlapped at all. With only the 3 cirlces, that would work, but when I have 35 individual polyline areas with arcs, suddenly this method feels like it will break down.
I have few co-ordinates in notepad like mentioned below. How can i create polyline using read-line function in auto lisp.
