Is it possible to ask Photoshop to save TIFF images using tile internal storage rather than strip storage? A little-known setting, a registry patch perhaps?
View 2 RepliesMy computer was infected this week by the FBI scam trojan virus. Microsoft Windows tech had no choice but to return CPU to original factory settings. I reinstalled Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 and attempted to retrieve my images from Adobe online storage. Only 121 of my images reappeared, even though a status bar shows my online storage level at over 7GB. Now when I open PSE9, if I click on "Organize," the program either immediately closes or I get an error message that says "the requested operation could not be completed because the catalog is currently locked by another process."
I've tried restarting my computer and even shutting down my computer, but still no luck. I can't figure out "other process" could be locking out the catalog.
1-When shooting tethered, is there a way to have it place the incoming raw files in two locations at once? Such as on an external as well as the internal drive for backup purposes?
2-When I plug the camera in (D300s), Windows 7 sees the camera almost instantly. However, Lightroom takes a minute and 30 seconds before it sees it to allow tethered shooting.
I just upgraded to CS2 from CS and I'm not certain how to import my patterns from CS. I simply don't know what pattern file contains my custom patterns that I've made. I know I should have had the common sense to learn this a long time ago so I could back them up... but I'm not that bright.

I don't want to bash this product as it does fit some applications well, but my experience loading photos stored on a WD Worldbook is way too slow. About 20 times longer than a photo on a local hard drive.
Maybe the way to go is ESATA attached disk, but before I go there, is anyone getting good results using an affordable network storage device in a home office environment? e.g., something in the $1,500 range or below?
Here's another backup question, has anybody used online storage? Does anybody know of any good companies to use, I'm looking for 400GB for myself, and 400GB for my husband. Is this feasable, does it cost a fortune, and what about security, people having access to my data?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI purchased a Bamboo Create and I have had nothing but, problems with the Adobe software that came in it. The other software works fine. However, Adobe thinks I should upgrade immeditaely even though I just spent $200 to the new Elements. In fact before 11 came out, I could not manage my photos because being locked out since I would not upgrade to 10. Now, I cannot get Elements to work to even manage storage because my online 2gb is full but yet I do not want all of those photos online. I want to delete many of them. But, Adobe keeps pushing the page to upgrade to 11, and then my elements 9 locks up and stop responding because it says that my online is full. 2GB what a chinchy amount of storage that is. This software does not work from the get go due to the Inspiratation Browser update with the Adobe Air debackle.
I have been thinking about going to 11, but I should not be forced to and the software that I just purchased should work. I had not realized how greedy Adobe was/is.
how to make the software that I just purchased work? how to manage my online storage without upgrading to 11. As soon as I upgrade to 11, Adobe will just come out with another $80 to $100 upgrade that I will hae to buy or else 11 will stop working.

Suppose you have a precious picture and you do not want it to be corrupted by a single bit failure by the drive.My undestanding is saving an image in a compressed format is most insecure because failure of a few bits can lead to gross decompression problems. My other understanding is that RAW formats that store the individual pixels are the safest. Consider 2 situations:
1. The RAW file header becomes corrupted. You can still recover data by interpolating and "guesstimating" from the existing data.
2. Actual image data becomes corrupted in a certain region of the file. You can interpolate around the lost areas to recover the image.
There are no tools that I know of that are designed to specifically accomplish 1 and 2. Honestly, if I had a precious picture, I would save it in RAW format in 2 or 3 different physical drives. Also, are there tools to recover data from corrupted photoshop psb/psd files?
My hard drive crashed and I lost all my data and pics. The pics are stored in a 20gig file on the adobe cloud. The software does not show me how to bring those pics back to my new hard drive.

just installed a shiny new copy of 2013 on my workstation yesterday, and found that it would not let me specify a storage location as is outlined in various tutorials. i have worked out the way around it post installation, but was curious if this was unique to me. I previously had one of the pre-releases running, could this have affected anything? Or is this just one of the things with 2013 that doesn't quite line up with the tutorials that are around at the moment?

How to change the storage location in Lightroom 3.6.?
I use my internal hard drive NTFS of my MacBook Pro as my storage location of Lightroom 3.6. being installed in Snow Leopard now but the data of my photos get too big now. I have two fast and big external hard drives eSATA now which I want to use for my data/photos. I know how to copy the data from one hard drive to another but I don't know how to change the settings in connection with Lightroom easily. I still want to watch all fotos on my MacBook Pro but don't want to save any fotos on my internal harddrive any more. Isn't it possible to have the programm Lightroom on my internal harddrive but the data on two times on two different extermal hard drives? If I look at Lightroom - settings of catalogue - I see that the internal harddrive location is my storage location now but I my two external harddrives don't appear as folders. Why? How to change that so that the external hard drives appear in Lightroom and I can watch all my fotos immediately (sometimes using external hard drive 1 and sometimes using external hard drive 2)?
My external hard drives are in HFS+ but I use the software of Paragon so that there shouldn't be any problem to read and write the data (I use also Final Cut Express so my external hard drives are HFS+ and not NTFS).
I want to impert many data from CDs - should I copy the fotos first to my external hard drive and then import it into Lightroom or is it easier to import the data directly from the CD in Lightroom so that I don't have to name the folders two times? I see that I have to sort the fotos from the CDs in new different folders and an used to do that in Finder of my MacBookPro. In Lightroom I don't want have to click each of hundreds of fotos to be able to put it into the right folders ... But how to import only a part of a CDs quickly into the right (newly created) folders?

However, when I move the items off the canvas, they pretty much disappear. Is there any way to store items "off canvas" and have them visible for quick selection?
One option, I guess, is to make the whole Edit preview area the canvas and only crop the item to final size when I'm done, but that seems wonky.

When I go to import a clip into videostudio, I get this message: "no storage to save BB" I click ok, then I get the "load from stream error" message.

The code I am working on first will need to examine an existing part's parameters and check that the correct ones exist, and if not, create them and give them an initial value. This is a fail-safe against somebody opening a global parameters part and deleting or renaming a parameter.
My question is: what is the best way to store this master list of parameters in the VB code? Would storing them as an Enumerator in their own Class be the best route? I am pretty new to VB, and I dont want to go way down the wrong road.
Just for clarification, the part that holds the parameters is derived into many other parts, and is linked to many assemblies to provide global parameters and sketch blocks throughout a group of models.

I have just tried plugging a Samsung SSD capable of 400+MB/s into a thunderbolt caddy. In action and on the desktop it behaves as normal. But in the player it plays at about 100fps. how to get it to play at speed.

I just installed Smoke2013 without a problem! But I accidentally put the media storage in the main OS drive!! I want to use my Raid 0 drive. I unistalled it and delete all the autodesk folders and installed again but the setup program did't ask to use the other drive like the first installation!! It just used the main OS drive as before!!! How can I change the Media drive to another drive? Why when I unistalled Smoke and then re installed It didn't ask to select the media drive?

I'm loading a LUT, able to using it as a monitor LUT and apply it to a clip, but when I reload the project, it loses the LUT path and I have to reload it. I've tried storing it on a network, and locally in the discreet folder. Is this a bug.
Few times already, deleted one media storage in smoke setup and tried to ad another one, and it doesn't want to add. every time i reload it's empty. Only work around is to to uninstall Smoke and install again and then to add new volume.
