Oct 2, 2012Is there a way to lock the X,Y location of points so that they don't get moved but still be able to change the point style fo the locked points?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: How To Lock Toolbar Location
Dec 5, 2013In Civil 2013 is there a way to lock where you drag the tool bars? I work on dual screen and drag my properties and layers manager over to the second screen. Randomly they will jump back from the right screen to the left screen on program restart.
Also when I open the grading toolbar and drag it over to the right screen some commands, such as breaking a feature line, will cause it to jump back into the middle of the left screen right then.
Is there anyway to lock the toolbars to where they were dragged last?
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Processing Linework Moves Moved Points Back To Original Location?
Sep 10, 2012Some what new to Civil 3D, so I hope I explain this correctly..
I imported points with linework and then needed to move them slightly. I unlocked the points and moved them with no problems, but I then went to re-process linework which moves the points back to their original location. I have tried relocking the points first before re-processing linework, but then it appears that nothing has happened.

May 24, 2011I have some blocks with a point connected to them, the point is free movable, moving the point does not move the block, but moving the block does also move the point. each block has 1 point connected to it.
what i want is to move the point of the blocks i select to the same location. (without moving the blocks themselves)
I am using autocad 2011 (tried to upload the block in question but doesn't seem to be working)

Mar 5, 2013I have a large surface (over 1.5 million points and 20 000hectares)
I need to get a point file .csv from the TIN to be able to use it in another program.
-so i've extracted the points from my surface, but they are Autocad points.
-next step is to convert them to civil 3d points.
-I can not select them all when converting them or my computer crashes.
-so i select about 25 000 at a time, the converting takes roughly 10 minutes.
and i have over 1.5 million points to do.
how can i speed this up.
will more ram useful?

Oct 9, 2012I have recieved a file with many points and would like to convert them into COGO points in Civil 3D. The problem is; I would like to keep the hole ID's as I convert, I've made a few conversions and lose the hole ID every time (not showing in Name or Description). Is there a seting I am missing to keep these? My aim to to organize the COGO points in different point groups.

I can't seem to find a way to do that other than perhaps re-importing the specific points as control points and overwriting the existing ones.

Apr 10, 2013I have a project that was started by leaving all the survey data inside the "All Points" group. So, I'm concerned that when I enter my as built survey points, that even if I put them into their own group, that the original surface will still look at them and just rebuild to my asbuilt data, effectively cancel out the purpose of the asbuilt survey. Will this happen?
I want to take the original points and put them into a group of their own, but I don't know if that will affect anything or not? I have several wetlands already designed on that surface with volume calcs already done too.
What should I do?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Section Editor Lock Up
Mar 14, 2013I have a short corridor, about 300', that ends at a cul-de-sac, and has multiple sections and alignments associated with it. My problem is when I need to edit a section in the "Section Editor" my computer feezes up. It was working fine for a while but now I can't get it to work even on a new drawing. If I can't get this fixed I will have to got to using feature lines. Which is not ideal.
I added a screen capture of my computer's information. And I have the SP1 installed for Acad.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Quick Profile Lock Down?
Nov 25, 2013Not everytime but very often when I create a quick profile from line, polyline or feature line, my Autocads locks. The only thing I can see is the command prompt asking to specify the point of origin for the quick profile and I can't seem to do anything. The only way to get out of the command is by trying to close the autocad window in the task bar or task manager.
To fix this it takes various steps: regenall, zooming out, but still the odd time I get it to work. This seems to me like a video card issue, but I had this problem with several video cards and windows versions (7&8). Currently using Nvidia Geoforce GTX 770M.

At the very least, I'd like to position x-refs in a particular order and then lock them there so that they never mistakenly change order. For example...
Back: Aerial photo *.dwg x-ref file
Next: Hatch pattern *.dwg x-ref file
Next: Existing topo *.dwg x-ref file
Next: Proposed linework *.dwg x-ref file
Front: Everything else in that specific primary file
I generally dislike nesting x-refs if I can avoid it.

Aug 4, 2011is it possible to lock an alignment to a pipe network, so that if you move a structure, the alignment moves with it?
along those same lines, when you create an alignment from a pipe network, is it possible to auto assign the reference alignment to the pipe parts, so that labels come out correctly?

Oct 30, 2012In my seemingly never-ending battle with standardizing, I have created a template with all the layers I expect to use in the future. The template will be used by both surveyors and engineers so I have layers that won't ever be used by surveyors. What I don't want is the surveyor to purge the drawing and delete all the layers that the engineers will need. I found the link below explaining and .lisp to replace deleted layers.

Now, I am completely new at .lisp and how to use them. Also, this template is used in a program called BricsCad (some of the older generation still uses it instead of Autocad) and using .dws and checking isn't an option for them.

When a Station Equation is added to an alignment it causes all of the profile views to get messed up. In addition once the EG profile changes the entire FG profile may also need to be changed. See this video I uploaded to Youtube that fully explains and shows the problem: [URL] ........
So, any way to some how lock the profile views start and end stations? Or to some how lock the PVI locations on a a proposed profile to certain stations?

Mar 19, 2012I've set the start and end locations to be at the structure inner wall and applied rules but the invert elevation is still as if the pipe ended at the center of the structure. Did I miss something or does this not do what I think it does?

Jul 24, 2013I had created a corridor using the attached assembly with conditional cut/fill and SlopeToSurface SA, the cut condition provides a ditch SA at cut only. Then had the Ditch Bottom Profile to follow a ditch profile that I created, and flows toward the increasing chainage. The horizontal offset and elevation of the ditch runs perfectly fine as desired, except between Sta. 0+465 (cut section) and Sta. 0+470 (fill section), where the ditch ties back to the edge of shoulder instead of going toward the outside (as shown in the blue lines).
My question is, do I need to make a transition between the cut and fill sections? If so how much effect and details is needed as I have a few other locations with the same issue.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: CUI File Location And Migration
Apr 27, 2012I have just upgraded from C3D 2011 to C3D 2013. I know it should be simple to copy my custom CUI file from one release to another, but somehow I'm missing it. In 2013, I open Workspace/Customize, then swith to the Transfer tab (right sofar?). In the pull down, I choose Open. Now at this point, I think I should just browse for my 2011 CUI file, but for some reason, I can't find it. If I search my C drive, I still can't find it. With 2011 open, in Workspace, the name of the CUI that I use is "Randy", so I'm assuming the file name to search for would be randy.cui.

But in looking at the IAeccSurfaceSlopeLabel interface in the ActiveX documentation, I'm not seeing where this data is stored. Even for a simple surface spot elevation label (IAeccSurfaceElevationLabel) I don't see a property that stores the coordinates.

Aug 3, 2012I have a 2011 Civil3D drawing with Data shortcuts in it. I need to replace the source drawing path of the data shortcut with another path. Is there a way to change this either manually or, preferably, programically. At some point we'll need to batch through the drawings and change this path information. Is this information is stored in a drawing dictionary somewhere? If so, where? If not, where?
Updating the .XML data files doesn't appear to affect data links already in the drawing.
