IT moved all of our projects to a new directory and have subsequently broken all the survey events. Is there a way to update survey events so they can find the original file again or does each event need to be redone to fix this?
e.g. I brought in a fbk located at p:/prj/6000 that file is now located in p:/6000.
I receive text files daily from our survey crew. Importing each point file daily creates multiple import events under the database. Is there a way to combine import events to make it easier when wanting to work with all points ?
I have combined multiple text files in the past then did the import, but I then would receive another file some where down the road that would needed added to the drawing.
Trying to make it where I wouldn't have to deal with the idiosyncrasies of the Project file, I created a default project that was rooted to my top level network drive.
All was fine until I did some importing from other formats. All of the sudden there was a new top level network folder called imports.
Ok, bitch session aside on the uselessness of project files, is there an entry in the project file details where I can change the location of this folder?
In SW, I was accustomed to importing a file and then saving it where I was going to use it, not in some convoluted folder structure that had no relation to my active working location.
I mean, why on earth would I want a separate folder for every little part I import?
Right now my default import location is pointing to my c drive and I need it to go to my E drive

When I change a points Raw Description to anything that isn't listed in the DescKey, the Full Description does not change. It will only change/update the Full Description if the new Raw Description is contained within the DescKey file.
Original Point Raw Description as "EP" - DescKey format for "EP" is "Edge Pavement" - Full Description = "Edge Pavement"
Change Point Raw Description to "X" - No listing for "X" in DescKey - Full Description stays "Edge Pavement"
Change Point Code to "GS" - DescKey format for "GS" is "Ground Shot" - Full Description updates to "Ground Shot"
While most of the time any updated code SHOULD be in the DescKey file, I can see times where that may not be the case, so it should update even if it doesn't find the Raw Description in the DescKey file.
I am trying to change my default import location on my MAC Pro Tower, to one of the internal HD's. I have named the HD Photo Location, and have created a folder in it called it "My Lightroom Photos". I have been able to create this, but cannot seem to ber able to make it my default when I open LR 3.5. I have to manually go in and change it. Is there a way that this can be changed to make it my default?

My drawing settings is set for US Feet. My Data Collector is set for US Feet. I only import a txt file into the drawing. My txt file coordinates match my Data Collector but never in the drawing. We're only talking about hundredth but I don't understand why it changes in the first place.
Example
Point 1 in txt file & DC --- 10000N 5000E
but in drawing --- 9999.98N 4999.99E
Point 2 in txt file & DC ---- 9624.7230N, 4971.5346E
in drawing ----- 9624.7422N, 4971.5445E
I am struggling to import .stm file into a blank civil3d file. it does import whith correct sizes and elevation. the issue is rim level of structures are the same as SSA file but it will make 2 meter sump depth to stuctures, thus structures invert levels are not correct. i just made a sump depth rule for structure and applied to some of them. it will correct it but as i have more than 1000 manholes in network it will be a major job to apply the rule. i know "apply rule" command will work a lot but i would like to know why it is importing whit wrong properties?
View 3 Replies View RelatedRecently we have discovered a problem (bug?) with the survey database. We usually import our field data from our Trimble controllers into the survey database (SDB) through Trimble Link. We have been very careful to get all the survey database settings right, so that the data comes through correctly and have been successful up until the last few weeks. We find this a good workflow, where we are able to make edits to our field data (change target heights etc) easily in the SDB and comparisons with Trimble Business Center and direct output on-screen in the controller confirm that our data is reliable. We often have both GPS (long Network RTK vectors from the nearest network base station) and total station observations in the same file.
The issue is that, as the fbk file is imported, the survey database settings change to reflect the content of the fbk file. The "Atmospheric conditions" and "Curvature and Refraction" settings, which I have purposely left unticked (the controller applies these corrections), become ticked. This throws out our heights, especially on the long GPS lines.
We do have the option for a workaround, which involves going back into the Edit Survey Database Settings after import and updating the data in the sdb, but this is clumsy.
This seems to be similar to the issue that was discussed here. However, we have only just encountered this issue in the past month or two, which coincides with when we rolled out C3D 2012 Service Pack 4 across the office. We are planning on implementing 2014 soon, so I have tried it out on 2014 as well, with the same result.
Is this something that others are dealing with too? Perhaps there's some sneaky setting somewhere that I haven't found which locks down the SDB settings preventing them from being changed on import? Otherwise, I think this is a bug.
I am also bracing myself for some comments regarding the dangers of using GPS in the SDB!
Civil 3D 2012 SP4
I have a flange that I use iLogic and the parameters list to update the different styles. My problem is that my flange won't update until after I hit save and update. My other square flange is not this way. As soon as I change the parameter in my square flange it immediately updates. Is there anyway I can get my round flange to update immediately like my square flange? I attached pictures below.

I have my existing grade TIN surface as a data shortcut into my roadway design file, but it sometimes will not update when opening the drawing. The surface profile will not display until the surface is manually synced. Any labels that are associated with that surface (or other object) will just display the ??? because it can't seem to connect to the data. After a manual sync it seems to come back.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem with my data shortcuts for my surfaces not updating. I have 2 surfaces (one ex and one prop) both are on auto-rebuild. Both of them are in separate files and data short cutted into my profiles files (I have one for water, one sewer and a third for storm drains). Any time I make a change whether I add or subtract data the file the data does not update in the profiles. As a work around I have been creating a new data short cut and adding it to my profiles files. What am I doing wrong that would make them not update?

I have a job that the customer provide the original CAD files with Civil 3D styles in them. As the project has progressed we have found many of the styles were not created properly and notified the customer. They have told us to fix the errors and send them the corrections...
Now that I have one file working properly I have to push the changes to the 30+ styles through the 100+ files of the job. Is there a quick way to do this in Civil 3D 2011? (It is part of our contract to use this specific program and release year without converting the files.) Or do I need to drag-and-drop each style into each file?

How do I change the default save location?
It goes to my documents, but in options I can't find anything with that path.
I want it to go to a different folder but I can't figure out how to make it do that.
We need re-location the diameter dimension after we change the drawing view's scale. but we didn't know how to change the Startpoint of the dimension (mark with Red word "1"), just find the text location.
Who knows how to set the new point to for the startpoint?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI created an alignment in one file. Then in another file I data shortcut that alignment in. From there I created an existing ground profile using that alignment. Later I modified the alignment. When I go into my profile drawing containing the existing ground profile, it did not update. I have had this happen on several projects and I can not figure out why it is not updating. My station range on the existing ground profile is set to automatic.
I used to do this all the time in 2012 and never had this problem. I am using 2013 with the latest update..
I am using AutoCAD Civil 3d 2012. I have succesfully created a View Frame Group (VFG) from an alignment and then created Plan Profile sheets from that View Frame group. I did create the sheets in a separate file from the View Frame group (that is an option when you create the sheets). It appears that if I change a View Frame using the grips, the corresponding sheet viewport doesn't change based on the edits to the view frame. I must manually update the sheet plan viewport to align with the edited location of the view frame. Is there a way AutoCAD will do this automatically or does it just not do that? Do I have to create the whole sheet set again or can I just recreate that one sheet? I don't want to do that since create the sheet will create a new profile view.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I've got a customer who's upgraded drawings from a previous version of Civil 3D to Civil 3D 2013. One drawing contains data shortcuts to pipe networks, alignments, and surfaces. At the drawing open the pipe networks are updated, but none of the other data shortcuts are. Removing the pipe network data shortcuts allows the other data shortcuts to be loaded normally. Using SYNCHRONIZEREFERENCES updates all of the data shortcuts normally in the darwing. So I strongly suspect the pipe networks are the cause of the issue. Opening a new drawing and creating a data shortcut doesn't exhibit the same issues. Also WBlocking the trouble drawing doesn't work either.

I have a drawing with some cross sections of road showing the Proposed road surface and Existing ground surface. Now we have received a new ground surface and we have to supersede the old ground surfae with the new one. is there any way to swap the surface in the existing cross sections?

For example, if i were to copy the dwg into folder A and copy a dwg into folder B. I would then update the master dwg with either a layer color change or linetype or add a layer / label etc, could those changes from the master be (linked) or a child or the parent master dwg? Or does this work with dwts?

I have a set of drawings with a large number of sheets. I need to do a mass edit of the properties for each sheet (for example update the revision number, date, checked/design/approved/drafting initials, description). The updated properties are largely similiar.
Is it necessary to update each sheet's custom properties individually, or is there an easier method?
i have "as-built" data in csv format for my pipe network assembly.
i'm using C3d 2011, i dont see a way i can import or batch edit the pipe network data with the current csv data.
i can export the pipe network to an excel table through the panorama, i was hoping there was a way to edit that data and push it back into the dwg file.
