AutoCAD Civil 3D :: How To Change The Sump Default Value For Structures
Feb 10, 2012I can change it under structure properties, but I can't find where to change it before I make the pipe network , 2013 Civil 3D.

View 2 RepliesI am struggling to import .stm file into a blank civil3d file. it does import whith correct sizes and elevation. the issue is rim level of structures are the same as SSA file but it will make 2 meter sump depth to stuctures, thus structures invert levels are not correct. i just made a sump depth rule for structure and applied to some of them. it will correct it but as i have more than 1000 manholes in network it will be a major job to apply the rule. i know "apply rule" command will work a lot but i would like to know why it is importing whit wrong properties?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have about 100 manhole structures with a 0.5' sump. I want them all to 0.0'. Is there a way to change the sump on more than one structure at a time?
The only way I have found to change the sump depth is one at a time through the structure properties.

I am using Civil 3D 2013. I work in an office where we have a few different flavors of Autocad (LT, MEP, regular vanilla AutoCAD etc...) and versions (2010 LT, 2011, 2012, 2013).
For the most part there isn't much inter-office drawing coordinate that has to happen, but there is the occasional project where multiple disciplines (Structural, Mechanical and Civil Site) have to share drawings.
The specific problem I am having is when I share my 2013 Civil 3D drawing with a user using 2011 MEP. He gets the typical rectangle for the proxy objects (in my case, my pipe networks for sanitary and storm drain). We've tried downloading and installing various object enablers, but there doesn't seem to be one for a 2013 to 2011 scenario. So I setup my parts to be on layers that he can just turn off. HOWEVER... the actual pipe network (not the structures, parts, labels etc... the network itself) ends up on layer 0. For this specific project, I do the old (ssget "x" '((8 . "0")) search to select all objects on layer 0, add those objects to a selection set (pselect), then in my modify objects dialog I filter for pipe networks, then change the layer to something other then 0.
While this is a workaround that works for me, what I really want to know is if there is a way that I can change the default layer that the network (again, not pipes, structures or text, the actual network) so I don't have to use the workaround. Any thoughts?
P.S. It's killing me that I had to create a new Autodesk login and now all my AutoCAD "street cred" is lost

I'm trying to add a sump/baffle box to a drainage ditch. I'm taking this project over from someone else. They had created a surface. However, I'm confused about how the surface they made was created, but I have used it to give me a reference to were the sump is located on the profile view. (circled in blue). Currently that surface has wall that are 1.5' high with a bottom at -1.5'. I have drawn in the sump on the profile view (highlighted in yellow).
I have tried to start over by using breaklines. I have already created a standard breakline on the N and W side at 0. However, on the east side, how to create a breakline and keep the drainage basin grading to the exisitng drainage basin grade.
I have attached screen shots of the plan and profile view.
Any hydraflow calculates depth of flow and spread at sump inlets? Does it assume that the entire flow is coming from one direction (similar to an on-grade inlet)? Or does it make an assumption about how much flow is coming into both ends of the inlet?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having problems with the display of my structures in a profile view. Previously, when I change the inverts of the pipes connected to my structure it would automatically adjust the bottom (sump) of the box invert to match my lowest pipe. However, for some reason it has stopped doing it and is now displaying the sump invert incorrectly. I have my style set to "Display as a Boundary". I have edited the structure sump to be by both elevation and depth, but it does not update the sump elevation. I have tried to grip edit the sump but it seems to be locked at a certain elevation. I have a profile with 10+ structures and they are all at multiple depths. I realize there are minimum depths allowed by the structure, but I have exceeded the minimum depths in all cases. Attached is an image that depicts my problem. No matter what I do to change the depth it stays locked at a certain elevation.

I am trying to change some default layer settings. I go to: Toolspace -> Settings tab -> Right click the drawing name -> Edit drawing settings -> Object layers tab. There I can set the default layers that objects are created on. I want to set "General Note Label" and "General Segment Label" to be created on what ever layer is current.
Is there a way to change the default Resize behavior for pipes. I'd like to have it set to crown. I can change it for each pipe but that's gets tiring after a little bit.

I've placed generic Junction box structures right out of the box from C3D and when I cut a section, the section shows the wrong side of the structure. (Rotated) i.e. An inserted 60”x36” junction box inserted as a curb inlet and then rotated into position will display the 60” side even though it’s perpendicular to the section line.
I've had to go back and place a 36”x60” to get it to display the 36” side in section? Why is there a “rotation handle” on the structure if you can’t really rotate it?I really don't want to swap all 60"x36" with 36"x60" structures just so they will display properly in section.

I need to create a .csv file for all my structures for Stakeout. I know I can go into my toolbox and create a report through the reports manager. The problem is that its giving me too much information, all I want is PNEZD. How can I create this report or edit that report being generated?
I am labeling structures in a network on the profile view. I cannot get the leader when i drag the label to anchor to the top of the structure? Is there a way to do this, i figured out how to have the label insert at the middle of the top line of the structure.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have added a pipe network to my profile view and for some reason the structures do not extend down to the inverts of the pipe. So the pipes are lower than the structures. I tried changing the sump, and the rim to sump (rim to sump can be editted but immediately goes back to what it originally was when you click apply. I've also tried clicking the structure and extending it downwards but it doesn't change. I've tried changing the stye and still have the same issue.

View 2 Replies View Relatedwhy I can't label certain pipes/structures? I can select the pipe or structure, rt click, add label and I get nothing. The layer is on cause I can see other labels. I also get the same result when I go to annotation, pipe label. This only happenes to certain pipes or structure, others in the same network label fine.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAny way to easily identify what labels structures use? I have a plan and profile drawing drawing with 15 diferent layouts. Another guy worked on it and edited the contents on one of the profile structure labels. So now I'm going to have to go through each layout and looking for what structure labels would have been changed. Typicaly if there is a slight difference in the callout for one structure I'll just edit the label text for that one particular structure.
I would like to select (sweep) all the structures in profile and see which ones would have used this particular label style.
how do you change their layer? i have been through the settings tab under "alignment", "station offset". i also right clicked on one and went through the properties.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI often create points manually. You get that dialogue box where you choose the layer and the default local coordinates, etc etc.
The local coordinates setting always defaults to Northing/Easting. (ditto the grid coordinates).
I set it to Easting/Northing as is standard around these parts and do my points, but if I close the box, when I reopen it to add more points later, it is back to Northing/Easting.
I cannot find a variable to control this behaviour.
I never need points to have north first and would like it to default to Easting/Northing at all times. Yes I'm using the Metric template.
Is there a way to change this default?
Is there a way to show the deflection angle between incoming and outgoing pipes in a structure label? Or any label at all, for that matter? I know it can be done with alignments at the PI point, but only in the source drawing.

Also if I have swapped a proposed 30" pipe for an existing 30" that have different styles, the data referenced pipe network will revert back to the proposed 30" pipe. how to make a data referenced pipe network reflect what is currently in the design drawing?
