Jun 25, 2013I have not done this for a while, but I remember you have to click somewhere otherwise all you see is an empty viewport in the new drawing.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Automatic Capitalization - Copy And Pasting Text
Dec 7, 2012I am having an issue copy and pasting text. Whenever I copy text from a source (word, another dwg) and paste it into a new dwg, it all comes in uppercase. Also everything i type in a new MTEXT is all caps.I do not have caps lock on.

Dwg B: Triangle is drawn in model space and 1 viewport in paper space annotating the triangle
i want to bring the Square detail (model and viewport with annotation) from Dwg A to Dwg B,while copying the Square and pasting it in Dwg B with the same reference points, i am having the square object over the Triangle in model space.I do not want to move the triangle since that is matched with the viewport on the paper space and annotated
i want to move the Square to a new reference (while pasting) BUT in a way to have the layout annotations matching and being asscociated with it,
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Using Copy Command Within Drawing?
Jul 8, 2013Any issues when copying certain object within my drawing from one part of the drawing to another, after selecting the objects I want to copy, I select the destination point and I cannot see any of the objects that I am copying, the command stops working and then I cannot see any objects in my drawing at all....its like I am zoomed out all the way and nothing is in my drawing...I save the drawing as is (seeing nothing on my screen)...calling it up again and all my linework, etc. is there again...it has happened in two different drawings so far within the last few months, and these dwgs. are not linked to each other at all....

However, when I paste them into another document they partially dissapear and the dashed lines turn solid.
AutoCad :: Slow Response After Copy And Pasting?
Jul 31, 2013When I cut and paste, Autocad lags for up to 30 seconds before continuing to go back to the command prompt. This problem only happens after pasting, whether it is one line or multiple lines/objects. The quantity of data pasted makes no difference to the lag. Also, if it's a new file with nothing in the drawing the issue still happens. The scale list is purged along with the entire drawing, so even on a blank new file it happens?!
I am running autocad 2014 LT and migrated from 2010 recently, where the problem began. I don't have cutting and pasting problems in any other programs like photoshop either, so I have localised it to a cad being the issue.
Also I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but this doesn't fix the problem.
I'm running on intel core duo 2, 4gb ram and 64 bit operating windows system.

Mar 11, 2011I would like to copy cogo points from one drawing to another, keeping both their layer and user defined properties.
I can:
1. Do a copy and then paste to orginal co-ords. This keeps the layers but loses the UDP's.
2. Export the points to a csv and import into new drawing. This keeps the UDP's but loses layers
3. Export to XML. This loses both Layers and UPD's
I don't have a desc key file setup for the codes on these pts so this is not an option.
AutoCAD 2013 :: Unable To Copy Viewports
Oct 9, 2013So in the last week or so, my C3D 2014 randomly decided not to copy viewports. It copies the box, but nothing in it. Plus you can't go into model space in the copied viewport. Just looks and acts like a normal rectangular polyline. But when you check the properties, it still says it is indeed a "Viewport" object.
Short of reinstalling the software, any setting that would cause this?

Jun 3, 2011Is there a way to copy a viewport with all its layers setup from one drawing file to another drawing file?
I can copy the viewport and activate it, but the layers setup for that viewport goes to default. So it turns everything on.
I can't make a layer state in the old file and import in new file, because the new file does not have all the same layers. So not all my layers would be turned off in the viewport.

I entered a few commands relating to grips and something else wich i don't remember, and now I'm unable to lock/unlock viewports and when I select objects to copy and then press _CO or copy button or copy with base point, it deselects the objects and asks me to select them again.

i have never been able to figure this out despite trying to do it from time to time and i basically cannot figure out if this is dependent upon actual images size, resolution, the size that the various images are on the screen etcetera, etcetera.
i am not even sure what other questions to ask except that i guess i could avoid all of this if i could copy a section of an image and then paste it into another document in a way that would give me the ability to RESIZE the incoming paste.
i basically want to get a logo into another document in a way that i can size and orient it so it looks good graphically...

Dec 27, 2012URL....My logo on the file that i created it in looks perfect. When i create a new, blank AI file and paste it into it, it pastes as a faded version of my logo. I have gone through all the settings i could find between my two files and made them identical, it still happens. When i paste the logo into the same file it was created in it pastes correctly.

Jan 7, 2013I have 3D drawing. I put camera's in several places and situations. In viewports I choosed a camera in every viewport. They work nice so long the drawing is open. When I close the drawing after saving it ofcourse. When I open it again , the viewports jump to SOUTH-EAST. and I have to rearrange the view of the cammera again. Although I used the command UCSFOLLOW to solve this, but it did not work.
PS. that happens only in the viewports which based on camera's. The views in other viewports which are not based on camer's, stay without chaning or jumping.
AutoCad :: Change Colour To Drawing With Several Viewports And Xrefs?
Apr 17, 2013I need to change colour to a drawing with several viewports and xrefs. I suggested to my co-worker that I could fix this via plot manager, but he insists that I change all colours in the xref to one and the same, so everyone can plot it black and white and so we don't have to set up new plot styles on every computer. (we've got the drawing file from another company btw).
I've had a look and it seems like I have to do refedit to be able to edit any parts of the xref. Most of the drawing has got the same colour already, but it just say "by layer"... how do I find out what colour it is?

Sep 19, 2013I am using autocad 2011..I have a problem with printing to scale.I have completed a drawing in model space with a 1:1 ratio, all my units are in mm.I have created 3 different view ports in paper space to show different aspects of my drawing, each view port has a different scale.
The whole drawing is to be printed on A2 size paper.
My main viewport (which contains the primary aspect of my drawing) is to be drawn to scale. When I click on this view port Autocad states that has a scale of 0.008583 – what does this mean? See picture 1..When I print the document the scale is set to 1 inches = 25.4.
All I want to do is print my drawing so that it fits onto an A2 page, but the main view port is to be printed to a scale. I want to scale to be sensible some like 1 in 200 or 1 in 50 etc so that other people can use a ruler to work out the real life dimension.

Aug 29, 2011I have 5 drawings that all have the same model (basically a topo map of a 2 mile radius) but each have unique info, i.e. monitoring well locations, utility info, etc. The client wants a zoomed in view of a 1 block radius and I need all 5 drawings to have an identical zoom. How do I adjust my viewports in each drawing so they are zoomed in to the exact same place?
I'm using AutoCAD 2007 for this.

Dec 10, 2013Eventually after I copy and paste with the clipboard enough times within one drawing, the ability goes away and I can no longer copy and past one item from one drawing to a separate drawing. I need to use the clipboard function because that is the only way of getting an item from one drawing to another.
I have download a clear clipboard function but it doesn't work. Closing CAD and restarting does not reinstate the function.

Sep 20, 2013I've recently made a new drawing template with ilogic prompts for entering data for all fields within the template. It also sets view sizes etc. I have lots of master drawings, which are reused when sizes etc change for a contract, which i would like to transfer to this new template. Drawing Resource Transfer Wizard does not offer this function.
I could get all drawings in a folder copied to specific sheet size on the master template.As the template will probably be developed further in the future I'm very loathed to do this take manually.

Jul 16, 2013Pasted into multiple smaller surfaces; made smaller by adding outer boundaries.The smaller surfaces are adjusted by using the Raise/Lower edit.Make a new surface. Paste all the small surfaces in together.
Now, I notice an area that was not included in any of the small surfaces, but was part of the original large surface. Somehow, this area is showing up in my final surface. So far I tried adding the polyline that forms the 'outer' boundary of each small surface also as a 'data clip' boundary, but don't see any difference. Only thing that works is delete surface point...click, click, click.
