When pasting a block from a drawing to a second drawing using the clipboard method the block pasted in with components of block in different area of drawing but still linked together. This even happened in the same drawing.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am copying and pasting a block from one drawing to another but as soon as I past it, AutCAD stops responding. I have done purging and auditing and still can't solve the issue.
I am using Autocad Architecture 2012.
This drawing file doesnt allow copy to clipboard or even binding on to other drawing. It was originally sent to us from another company, I have deleted all the objects and layers, purged it. If I create a new line or other object, Ctrl+C doesnt work.

View 1 Replies View Relatedwhen I am working on a large drawing and/or pasting as a block, all the grey lines (colour 8) turn to white. When I select a grey line, it flicks back to grey, but de-select, and it's white again.
If I toggle on hardware acceleration, the problem is fixed for a short while, and also if I turn it off, it is fixed for a short while, and also if I save, close and re-open it's good untill I paste a block....
I suspect it may be because of my setup and an un tested graphics card:

Pasting from Clipboard problem.
Did a screenshot JPG
Right clicked it and copied it (Win7-64 clipboard).
Started PSPX4 SP1.
Cannot paste .. paste options greyed out.
So I drag/drop the jpg into X4-SP1 ... works ok.
Also, opening the file in X4-SP1 works ok.
Tried another Copy/paste with another app .. PaintDotNet.
Pasted from Win7-64 clipboard ok.
Plug Ins and tablet installed.

I can cut and paste within Photoshop CC, but can't paste to Illustrator CC or Word; clipboard appears to be empty. Everything works fine with PS CS6.

when i use the ctrol+copy command, I get the "copy to clipboard failed". This has only started since I upgraded to AutoCAD2012.
Un-purgable blocks? Is there some way to designate a block within a drawing so that it canNOT be purged even if it is not being used at the moment?

I'm using Architecture 2011, but the problem is pretty generic.
I am working with a very complex vendor drawing and using it as an xref to my working drawing. I need to be able to freeze parts of the xref and change colors (for plotting purposes) of other parts. Under ideal circumstance this would require simple layer manipulation.
My problem is that a large percentage of the vendor drawing is made up of blocks. There are nearly 1000 different blocks. Most of these blocks were created using layers other than 0 - quite often more than one layer is used. Sometimes the block is inserted on a layer that was used in it's creation, sometimes not. The only way I can omit one of these blocks from my drawing is to figure out what layer was used in it's creation and freeze that layer. You can see how this could be a pretty tedious process.
My limited CAD knowledge only gives me: edit all 1000 blocks, changing them to layer 0
I have a lighting block I need to insert into a drawing. Who ever drew the block did so upside down (so the top is really the bottom). I can't, for the life of me, figure out how to "rotate" it so that the top is correct. When I rotate the block, it simply keeps the top the top. When I copy and paste it, it stays the same as well. I tried inserting it into a new drawing.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a drawing where I have placed all of my natural gas piping. I have all of the annotative blocks set to 3/32"=1'-0" and 1/32"=1'-0" scales. They are both correctly displayed in this drawing.
When I xref this drawing into another about half of the 1/32" blocks show up correctly. The other half are shifted to the right off of the plan. All of the 3/32" blocks show up correctly.
I am trying to insert a block in the drawing sheet, that varies in size dynamically. Is there anyway for changing the size of the block.

Is there any way to change that insertion point? I want to insert the block in Model not in PS...
I am looking for some code or something which can change the title block revisions from "01" to "02" in multiple drawings.
The title block revision block is set in attributes.
Is it possible to create a 'drawing scale' defined attribute inside my title block when brought into paper space? I tried setting it up using 'plotscale' fieldname with various formats and it keeps coming in as 1" = 1' or 1:1 rather than 1" = 20' because that's what my plot scale is inside paper space but my drawing scale is 20 scale. If I bring the title block in model space, it adjusts, but I don't plot from model space. Surely there's a way to make this automated inside paper space.
Also, I just setup a 'Date' attribute inside my title block today. What's the difference between Date, Saved Date and Plot Date? Will 'Date' update if its in a drawing and opened up a month from now and saved or do i need to take 'Date' out and replace with 'Saved Date' or Plot Date'?.
I am attempting to attach a title block into a layout. This is my process:
1. Go to Building1 drawing, and go to layout. Without any viewports created, I attach a dwg file named titleblock1.
2. When I specifiy the location and scale, I cannot find the attached drawing.
why can't I attach files larger than 1.5 KB? I can't attach anything useful!
I have a basic floor plan in AutoCAD 2012 that has blocks in specific locations which contain personel data....name, phone, computer tag, desk key numbers, etc. I extracted the data to an Excel spreadsheet and I thought set up a "data link". But I don't know how to make the data update.
My problem...moves of staff, phone, computers are often made, but no one lets me know about it until they want a new floor plan printed and the computer and key tags get so messed up from the moves that it can take me hours to fix.
My goal is to be able to have our secretarial staff update the spreadsheet and in turn update the blocks in my AutoCAD drawing when it is opened and/or "updated".
I try to get a blockreference name and objectID by selectatpoint method in VBA, but i fail to do that.

View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently I started using AutoCAD 2012 and I ran into one problem which I didn't encounter before.
The problem is that when I try to paste objects from another drawing (through clipboard - usually another instance of AutoCAD) I can't paste them in some drawings only.
The following things happen:
-Autocad behaves normally like when I usually paste objects except there is nothing inserted.
-When I save the drawing after unsuccessful insert, even if I canceled inserting, drawing size increases dramatically (for about 2-4MB).
-If I open new drawing, I can insert objects there.
-Also when I copy to clipboard, autocad takes a lot of time even if it is only few lines.
I tried these thing to fix issue:
-I checked if there are any layers turned off.
-I tried to copy with COPYBASE
-I restarted autocad (sometimes it works but only for some moments or for one insert).
-I did PURGE and AUDIT
-I tried to copy paste in same instance of AutoCAD but that didn't work.
I'm usually using t least 2 instances of AutoCAD (I hope that is not the problem).
I am trying to copy some items in cad but I keep getting the error ' copy to clipboard failed'.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am having an issue while trying to copy/paste via clipboard. I copy (with or without basepoint) on one drawing then try to paste to another drawing using ctrl v. the first two times, the object pastes. On the third attempt my cursor looks like it is trying to paste something and if I move near an object on the drawing it snaps to points, but no object pastes. After doing so I check my layer manager and the layers involved with this action do paste. After a few attempts with no luck, a weird object I have never seen before appears.
I have tried to purge and audit as well as copying the whole drawing to a new drawing but have had no luck.
Side note, after ctrl v is pressed (or ctrl shift v) the command line says something about duplication of some block name ignored.
Clipboard options grey out, however active with keyboard commands, "Paste as Block" CRTL-Shift-V.

design Center - display order goes out the window. The inserted block is redefined but the rest of the drawing loses all its display order. sortents (127, 33, 51, etc) and displayorderctl does nothing, either before or after the block is redefined. hatches and blocks just jump to the front (display order shows as order of drawn not order as moved to) Regenall does nothing.
absolute nightmare with display order managed elevations (solid hatch, baconies, windows, multple buildings, all overlaying!!)
I am still getting used to version 2010, and am unable to paste items into an existing block, is there a setting I can adjust to remedy this?
