AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Best Fit Arc From Non-horizontal Points?

Jun 12, 2013

I would like to create a best-fit arc from non-horizontal points.

I have tried to do a UCS from 3 of the points that will form the arc but everytime the best-fit arc is placed on the global grid horizontally.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Large Surface - Converting Points To Cogo Points

Mar 5, 2013

I have a large surface (over 1.5 million points and 20 000hectares)

I need to get a point file .csv from the TIN to be able to use it in another program.

-so i've extracted the points from my surface, but they are Autocad points.

-next step is to convert them to civil 3d points.

-I can not select them all when converting them or my computer crashes.

-so i select about 25 000 at a time, the converting takes roughly 10 minutes.

and i have over 1.5 million points to do.

how can i speed this up.

will more ram useful?

The problem is; I would like to keep the hole ID's as I convert, I've made a few conversions and lose the hole ID every time (not showing in Name or Description). Is there a seting I am missing to keep these? My aim to to organize the COGO points in different point groups.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Designating Points As Control Points

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Moving Points Out Of All Points Group?

Apr 10, 2013

I have a project that was started by leaving all the survey data inside the "All Points" group.  So, I'm concerned that when I enter my as built survey points, that even if I put them into their own group, that the original surface will still look at them and just rebuild to my asbuilt data, effectively cancel out the purpose of the asbuilt survey.  Will this happen?

I want to take the original points and put them into a group of their own, but I don't know if that will affect anything or not?  I have several wetlands already designed on that surface with volume calcs already done too.

What should I do?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Horizontal Landing At Multileader

Jun 4, 2012

At a multileader when "automatically include landing" is set to "NO" or unchecked, then a small point (like that at the end of a dimension line) is inserted in the callout block, such as the circle, which then prints. This makes for less than clean drafting to say the least--is this normal? If so, (why?!), is there any way to NOT have those points print/show up?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Use Conditional Horizontal Target

May 24, 2013

What i want to do is ; i have a corridor with both right/left sides ending with linktosurface with fixed slope. In some sections my existing surface is not wide enough to get intersection with link to surface with fixed slope. So i want to use this "conditional horizontal target " if my surface is not enough wide for intersection then just intersect or go to the edge of my existing surface. But i learned that  surfaces cannot be used as an offset target with that subassembly.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Conditional Horizontal Target - Odd Results?

Dec 10, 2012

In particular, I am attempting the infamous task of creating driveway openings using a horizontal target with my sub-assemblies.  I referred to the AU 2010 video tutorial that gets passed around here on the boards, and for the most part, it works with ONE tiny exception.

Like in the AU video, I set my conditional target to look for a particular layer, and I first attempted the exercise by placing ONE polyline (i.e. driveway opening) on the layer, and set set conditional "found" and "not found" targets to find this pline.  The target found the pline on the layer on the right side of the road where I drew it, and created the opening as hoped, but it created an opening on the LEFT side of the road as well!

What do I have to do to prevent the conditional horizontal targets from ignoring the exact opposite side of the road?  In my assembly, the left conditions are set to LEFT, and the right conditions are set to RIGHT, but when the corridor gets modeled, BOTH sides of the road will show an opening even if there is only one pline drawn.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Super Elevation And Horizontal Transitions

Feb 14, 2013

I need getting a roadway to transition horizontally for a turn lane. If it were straight without super, it would be easy. However, the transition happens in a curve that needs to be super elevated.

I know I can use the lane transition assembly and set it to "change offset and grade" but with that, I would have to manually calculate my EOP elevations.

Is there a sub assembly with the ability to use the centerline super elevation data as well as transition horizontally?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Profile View Horizontal Geometry Bands

Sep 9, 2013

I'm using C3D 2012.  I created a profile view for a straight horizontal alignment.  The band label for the horizontal won't appear for this particular straight aligment.  I have a few other alignments that has curves in it and the profile view displays the labels fine.

I tried to create a new straight alignment again, create a profile view but I get the same results.I also tried it on a new drawing using the NCS metric template with same results.

I can think of (if this is a bug) is to extend my alignment by say 0.1m and add a new IP at the correct alignment end, mask that on plan and end my profile view to the right length.
