I typically use the function keys to toggle osnap, polar, orthomode etc. on & off. Now what happens is that when I use any function key it changes the setting for the previous F-key press. It does this once, then reverts to normal behaviour. For example:
F3 Osnap On
F3 Osnap Off
F3 Osnap On
F10 Osnap Off
F10 Polar On
F10 Polar Off
F8 Polar On
F8 Ortho On
Just installed C3D on my Dell POS Windows 7 machine (OS is up to date).
I have noticed that the functionality between using the F3 and F8 keys reverses itself when first used. If I hit F3 I turn Ortho ON/OFF. If I hit it again, I turn Osnap ON/OFF. If I do the F3 key, then do it again to get the Osnaps set how I want, then go to the F8 key to set the Ortho mode back to where it was before I hit F3, it changes my Osnap setting, and I end up chasing my tail around and around. I can use the SCREEN buttons down below my working area. but I prefer keys, finding it far easier to hit F3 without even having to look at the key board rather than put my cursor over the little square of turn Osnaps ON/OFF there.
All toggles are turned off and the cursor jumps all over the screen when zoomed in. Also, there are two rectangular boxes in the northeast quadrant of the crosshairs when moving near a point or node. How to eliminate this? All function keys are off.

It's easy enough to switch off UCSDETECT at drawing startup, this only goes part way. It's so easy to switch it back on via the status toggles - hence the need to switch it off programmatically at drawing start.
What is the osmode bit that toggles off the running snaps... but leaves the underlying user running snaps settings un-effected?

I am creating a drawing template that everyone in my office will use, stored on a shared location. I want the label "Drawn by ...." in the title block to be filled automatically with the drafter's name who created the drawing. It would be easy to just add the field "Author" or "LastSavedBy", but my situation is more complex. Our workstations are identified by a code that consists of first two letters of given and last name, for example John Smith's computer is named JOSM. So if I use "Author" field, then I would get "Drawn By JOSM", but I want to get "Drawn by John Smith".
I would like to some how create a field that contains function:
IF author=JOSM, value=John Smith
IF author=MAST, value=Mary Stuart
Is it possible to create such functionality? I found out something about Expressions and Diesel Expressions, but didn't understand much.
I want to insert a word document with several pages in autocad by the OLE OBJECT function. The problem is the insert only the first page. How to follow the other pages?

I am trying to use the "Export to pdf" function as opposed to plotting as a pdf because the "Export" function seems to make a much smaller file size. However, when I "Export to pdf" some of my layers are not showing up in the created pdf.
The pdf created when I plot to pdf looks fine. I am using the "current layout" and "current" page setup options in the "Export to pdf", so it is using the same plotting options as plot to pdf, but the "Export" function is not displaying some layers.
Is there a way I can add a macro or formula in a label style definition?For instance, I'd like to show the difference in elevation for the ends of a line and whether it's a cut or fill without having to do everything manually.

I would still wan everything in the dwg to be in west zone but be able to display coordinate values in other zones.
I need to determine intersection points between Alignment and Parcels.
In .NET I haven't Parcel object and in COM IntersectWith function doesn't work.
On one of the machines here we seem to have lost the functionality of the layer filters. When a group filter is created, it shows in the list, you can add layers to the filter, but when you view the filtered layers, its all the layers. Also, when there are unreconciled layers and you navigate to this filter, it shows the entire layer list. Is there some setting that may have been changed?

I have a HP laptop on which I run AutoCAD 2012 AND Civil3D 2012 both of which for some reason do not have the function keys working as normal. Oddly enough if I attach an external keyboard, the function keys work as expected.
View 4 Replies View Related2013 C3D crashes on me a little less than once a day. Fatal errors and recoveries are also quite popular. Today, the crash took Windows 7 down with it too - a rare treat.
I have Autosave set to 20 minutes and also have the box for creating a backup file with each save checked under Options > Open and Save.
When Drawing Recovery Manager opened today, the dwg I was working on says it was last saved over 1.5 hours ago. The bak file was last saved yesterday. Usually, there's a sv$ file, but not this time. The sv$ file is typically the most up-to-date file.
Shouldn't I see a "last saved" time and date of about 30 minutes ago for my dwg? Same for the bak file? Is there some other variable that I need to set?

I'm trying to adjust the properties of some block objects in Mspace. When the file contains external references the function fails, when it has none it works perfectly.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to be able to have a function run another function with the secondary function being passed as an argument to the first. I'm trying to create a recursive function and the recursive part works great. I just need to be able to have the recursive function run other functions to actually do stuff.
Here is something I found that should do what I need, mainly run a function from a function name in a variable.

I'm just hoping there is a way to do this or this function will be useless or reduced to hardcoding functions which still defeats the purpose.
It appears that the Layer Filters functionality is broken again with 2013. Unchecking the "Apply layer filter to layer toolbar" disables the function of layer filters in the tool palette.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWe receive site survey dwgs generated in Civil 3D that contain 3D topos with elevation tags. The elevation tags are clearly scalabe anno objects that scale correctly in the received civil dwg. The elevation tags won't scale correctly in our dwgs - they come in too small to see.
- Both dwg's have units set to decimal.
- I tried copying / pasting the viewport from the civil dwg to our dwg and the text is still too small. This tells me it's a dwg specific variable and not a viewport setting.
- I have Civil 3D object enabler installed, though I don't think this has any bearing.
It would be nice to use the original tags and not have to re-create every elevation tag.
I'm having a problem plotting to pdf (using ScanSoft Pdf Pro 4) causing Autocad Civil 3d: Infrastructure Design Suite.
When I plot in Civil 3d 2009 I have no problems but we recently switched to Autocad Civil 3d: Infrastructure Design Suite and when I try to plot a pdf 24x36 it looks correct in the plot preview but my final pdf size comes out 36x36. I have tried everything I know...

I can't just save as an earlier version and plot in C3d 2009 because my alignments gets screwy.
We've recently done some work for an engineering firm, and have also recently upgraded to Civil 2013.
It turns out they are using Civil 2011, and obviously are unable to open our drawing. As far as I'm aware, they need a TIN surface and cogo points, but I'm unsure of how to provide them with this other than reproccessing the job on an older version of Civil.
I'm thinking that I might be able to export to LandXML to keep all my points and surface, and then just export to Autocad 2010 for the linework?
I get the following message when I try to access it from the menu.
"EditInSSA cannot be used because the optional feature is not installed on this machine"
When I look to modify a deployment I cannot find the option to add SSA.
Looks like something to do with 360 is cause C3D2013 to hang on startup. I have to kill the AcSettingSync.exe service to in Resource Monitor to make 2013 un-freeze.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI need to import .dgn elevation data (DEM?) into Civil 3D. When I attempt MAPIMPORT, DGNIMPORT, DGNATTACH, or from the "Insert" ribbon selecting "Import" and .dgn as the file type, Civil 3D will not respond and has to be closed and reopened.
The information likely includes surface and/or breakline information. Please see the attached (change file format from .txt to .dgn).
And if Civil 3D 2013 simply cannot import this information, does the Infrastructure Design Suite/Civil3D 2014 can?
In using 2013 I noticed when I delete a feature line which is added to a surface as a breakline it does not delete it from the surface. Even after a rebuild the surface does not update. I am having to go into the toolspace and manually delete the breaklines from the surface list.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have problem with compatibility this two versions of civil 3D. Files created in C3D 2013 then modified in 2014 don't want to open in C3D 2013. Files contain many civil objects: shortcuts, corridors. During opening occurs fatal error.
There is no problem with files which were created in C3D 2014 from the begining only modified in C3D 2014.
