Jul 29, 2012I need to determine intersection points between Alignment and Parcels.
In .NET I haven't Parcel object and in COM IntersectWith function doesn't work.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Parcel Object Layer Line Under Parcel Style And Plotting
Aug 26, 2013I have a record plat drawing with multiple parcels and parcel styles. For my lands of the grantors I view port froze the lots and right of way layers from my parcel styles. I don’t want to show them in this viewport. To my surprise the lines show up in the object layer we have set for parcels. This was not the case in 2011. We are in 2014 with the first hotfix update. I understand putting the parcel styles in the object layer, but why another mysterious line under it? I did create parcels from objects, but had them erased when I created them. This did not matter either way. Is there a way to get rid of them? I did put them in a new layer, set it to “No Plot” This kept them from plotting, but I really don’t want to have to take the time to do it.

Oct 17, 2012When creating and labelling a parcel Autocadd Civil 3d places a label in an adjoining area outside of the intended parcel.
The label seems ubrelated to the intended parcel and is labelled with a diferent parcel number, area, etc.. No additional parcel boundaries seem to be created.
Have created a closed polyline for parcel creation as well as a number of other steps to ensure that there are no breaks in the enclosed parcel.

Jul 28, 2011I am a beginner with AutoCad software, and I am currently using Civil 3D/Map 3D 2009.I imported a shp. file containing property information (owner, area, address, etc), and also imported an alignment row as a sdf. file. The row is a closed polygon.
My goal is to intersect these two types of data so that I end up with information on the number of properties affected by the row.
Is civil 3d 2009 capable of doing this? If so, how? I found a youtube video on using the 'Offset Alignment' command with Civil 3D 2010, however, is not the same for 2009.

Apr 11, 2012I know I should know this, but can't seem to get it to work.
I have two ~parallel feature lines about 250' apart. I grade the Easterly Ft Line going west at a +1.5%, and I grade the Westerly Ft Line going east at a -2.00:1 slope.
I know C3D doesnt have a tool to intersect them, I must use the intermediate surface approach.
What I did was grade one, create 'Paste Surface 1' then grade the other, create 'Paste Surface 2' and then I created Surface 3 and pasted 'Paste Surface 1' and 'Paste Surface 2' into Surface 3.
Throughout I used 'Grade to Distance'
Surface 3 doesn't come out correctly.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Intersect Two Gradings
Mar 25, 2012I'm a bit perpplexed about a very simple grading scenario: intersect the daylighting of two gradings as shown in the screen capture. I would like a solution that is dynamic to changes in either of the 2 gradings.
The intended result is in the 3D PDF.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Data Reference Alignment Stationing Differs From Original Alignment
May 3, 2012I using a data reference/shortcut to properly label an alignment in paperspace. However when I reference the alignment in and apply the labels the aren't the same as the original alignment that I am referencing. Is there a setting where I am supposed to apply a new beginning station.
Also it seems as though the stationing(distance) isn't even matching up 1:1 with the original drawing. For example in the original base drawing my alignment starts at 10+00 with the next PI at 14+76.98, but the stationing on the reference alignment starts at 0+83.33 with the very same PI being labeled as 1+23.08. So the very same distance is 476.98' in the real design and the drawing it's being referenced in, but the stationing of the referenced alignment shows it as 39.75 Units.
I've attached a screen of the beginning of the alignment.

For example, for an alignment that was created with alignment label set X - change the label set to alignment label set Y? It seems like this should be pretty easy, I must be missing something obvious.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Alignment Begin Station Inherited From Another Alignment
Aug 8, 2012Can I inherit the station from one alignment as the begin station for another alignment?
For example. Alignment 1 is 1000 ft long and starts at sta 0+00.
At sta 8+01, Alignment 2 begins and goes off in another direction.
I manually enter 8+01 for begin station Alignment 2. Life is good. Still in the design stage, and customer needs to modify Alignment 1 to avoid something. Now Alignment 2 intersects Alignment 1 at sta 8+15, but same N/E coordinates.
I manually enter 8+15 for begin station Alignment 2.
It would be better if Alignment 2 could inherit the begin station based on the new stationing from Alignment 1.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Intersect With And Curved Pipe
Nov 18, 2011I'm using the Intersect With method with two pipes. The Intersect With method doesn't appear to work with curved pipes if the pipes do not cross. If they don't cross the method works, but if they don't then it doesn't find the intersect points properly. This appears to be an issue with Civil 3D 2010 to 2012 API.

In the screen cast image the pipe on the right finds the intersection point with the straight pipe on the left, but not the curved pipe that is in the middle. I've had poor results trying to put in support requests for API related issues.
For Civil 3D 2010 here's the code that isn't working:

i have ground surface and i have dam surface. they would like to show the filler material in the cross section graph.. so i copied then raised the surface the required depth.
so now the surface and side slope of the dam intersect. and i would like to trim the filler material surface to be in line with the dam.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Parcel Labels In Layouts
Apr 4, 2013On a road project I have an acquisition parcel that is matched across 2 viewports on one layout. I would usually slide the parcel label so it's only visible on one layout. Then I'd add a second label that would be visible on the second layout.
This line happens to cross the viewport near the end. If I add a label in the lower viewport that looks reasonable. It will overlap in to the upper viewport. I can drag the label to very near the end of the line but it doesn't look right there. I don't think it's good procedure to try and force one parcel label on to it's own layer so it can be frozen in that one viewport.
Any technique for handling this situation?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Custom Parcel Report
Oct 24, 2012I copied the General Legal Description report and renamed it. When I ran the report, it asked me to save the file Civil.html before opening it. If I run the OOTB report it does not ask me to save the page before opening it. Is this something that I can fix? I have not found a setting anywhere that changes this.

Oct 21, 2013I am new to C3D and I have been going through all of the tutorials and learning everything I can from the given data, which has been amazingly useful. Everything has been running spot on except today when I was going throughtthe parcels tutorial, I applied Parcel Number and Area to a group of parcels I created via the tutorial dwg file "Parcle-1A". Everything displays correctly except the Area is not shown as it does in the sample pic. I have applied the "Parcel Number And Area" to the Area Label Style, but it still does not display the area. Only the Parcel Number. Is there some part of this process that I am overlooking? The tutorial dwg file is called "Parcel-1A". It was too large to attach, but you can find all of the tutorial dwg files via the Help Menu. It depends on your OS to where they are located.
If you go under Parcels Tutorial>Exercise 1: Creating Parcels from AutoCAD Objects, you can see exactly what I am working with.

Oct 30, 2013I have a drawing with two parcel tables in it. I would like the header on one to be Line Table 1 and the other Line Table 2, is this possible? When I change the text in the style, the header in both change.

Don't deal it as parcel preview when you actually click on the name of the parcel. That I do know how to toggle on. We're just looking for the list.

Mar 8, 2012I would like to have my parcels be able to label the lots with sometihng other than the Lot # given by the setup of the parcel itself. What i'd like to be able to do is have it label Outlot A - which I haven't been able to figure out to date.
How can I get the parcel style to use something other than the word Lot or a number (given the typical lot is a number). We have various reasons why Outlot A is a needed label. How does one go about getting C3D to use something other than the name template in parcel style. I can toggle the name template option off once I create the parcel. But, when I toggle it off - then go to the name and change it to Outlot A - the parcel label still shows as Lot 1. Why?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Edit Parcel Curve
Aug 7, 2012I don't have much experience with parcels. We don't subdivide property. But I have to do some Acquisition maps and this is the first time I've had an opportunity to do them in Civil 3D.
I wont get in to the gory detail, but I created some parcels that were very slightly off for rotation. It turned out there were some distance problems too. I thought I would just rotate the parcel based on a couple of known corners and then snap to corners I had from a drawing in the correct system.
Mostly that worked. But now I have a curve that isn't tangent because the far end of one of the tangents was adjusted. Also, somehow, the radius is off. I'm only talking about a couple of thousands of a foot, but I'd like to make it right since it has to be edited anyway. I've tried the parcel editing tools from the ribbon and read some of the sections in help that I thought might apply. I haven't been able to adjust the curve.
So now after all the warm-up, my questions. Can I just erase that curve and use the parcel creation tools to add a new curve? Will that curve automatically be added to the correct parcel? Is there anyway to modify the existing curve to be tangent to the revised lines? IOW What's the best way to proceed?
