I have a drawing that is "Not Responding" when switching from a layout tab to model space by clicking the "Model" tab. I ran a recovery on the drawing and there are no errors. I can't get into model space except by clicking inside my viewport.
View 5 RepliesFor a while now...every time i switch to model space...autocad gives me the NOT RESPONDING problem. i get the spinning icon and it seems to last forever. seriously...i can go get coffee and come back and its still thinking. i've cleared temp files in autocad. what could be causing this?
View 3 Replies View Relatedon a couple of my lager project i have recently had issues with Autodesk Civil 3D 2012 Freezing in Model Space switching between Isometric views. the number of view changes varies each time but seams to freeze during regen of the model.
I have checked the performace tuner and updated my driver, see Attached Log.
We are in the process of changing our CAD Stations over to Windows 7 64 bit, but im not scheduled for a couple more months.

Windows XP SP3 32 bit
Intel Core2 Quad (Q9550 @ 2.53GHz)
4GB RAM
CIvil 3D 2013 / My drawing opens in layout view and all model objects are appropriately coloured by layer. If I hit plot at this point, my colour dependent .ctb file works fine. However, once I swtich to model view, all my linework turns white and if I switch back to Layout view it remains white and plots each line with the weight assigned to the colour white.

I went from a 32-bit windows XP machine with 4 gigs of ram and a dual core 2.8 GHz processor with an older radeon graphics card to a 64-bit windows 7 machine with 16 gigs of ram, core i7-2600 (3.4 GHz) quad core processor, and an nvidia quadro 4000 2GB graphics card and I thought my life would be easy. But apparently great hardware will not solve all of my software issues.
When I try to switch to model space from paper space in C3D 2012 (sp1) it hangs for maybe 5 minutes before finally switching over. I have only worked on two drawings with the new machine, but it does it on both. And not every time, just half the time in one drawing and most of the time in the other.
I have a problem that the software is not responding and freezing when creating new drawing or opening another one.
I have windows 7 64 bit Operating system installed on workstation Dell Machine
I look to a lot of discussion and I tried the mentioned ways but still same issue
FYI, this software was working fine with windows XP machine.
I have AutoCAD 2012 on a Win 7 64bit laptop. Ive had it on here for over a year and never had this issue till today. My AutoCAD loads up fine and loads up the default Drawing1 file. However after waiting a few seconds and going to click File, it comes up with Not Responding on the top. I wait patiently for several minutes and it does not recover. Not quite sure what went wrong . My desktop has the same issue. There is a possibility of it being caused by CCleaner after using it to fix errors and it messed with something in the resgistry while doing so but not sure.

View 6 Replies View RelatedAm using Autocad 2012 with SP2 downloaded, note the problem does not occur in Autocad 2013... So basically if you open the dwg you will see it opens in paperspace, the viewport is locked to a specific scale etc. Now go into model space where the dwg is, you should be able to zoom around, pan etc fine, problem is when you now go back into the layout or paperspace. You will notice that upon re-entering paperspace that the vport is highlighted, ie there is a thicker outline of the vport boundary, however am still in paperspace according to the tabs. When you now try zooming in or out using the mouse scroll you will notice an additional copy of the viewport is imprinted on the screen. Thats the problem. Doing a few undos will set you back right again.
So far we are inclined to think that its either something to do with the UCS or the units that the program is getting confused with but havent been able to find a solution. Also bear in mind that it seems to work fine in 2013. Its probably something really simple that we've missed but thought would try anyway Will attach the dwg file.
I am getting this problem with my AutoCAD, whenever i am working in paper space and i move around the drawing my AutoCAD will freeze and become non-responsive while "regenerating model". Same thing happens when i switch between paper and model space and vice-versa.
I have gone and updated my AutoCAD with service pack 1 and the "ribbon" hotfix for this problem and it is still there.

I'm having an issue in 2014 with switching between model and paper space. It takes 4-to-5 seconds for me to begin working in these spaces, after switching. Going between tabs is not an issue, it's just switching between model and paper space that causes the lag.

When I open a drawing (that was last saved in Paper Space) and I'm switching to Model Space, my view is not set to "Top" by default. How can I set my view by default to "Top"?

I have just started working with Architecture 2011, so perhaps there is some strange issue at work here, but I haven't come across it previous releases. Whenever I switch from model tab (in 2D wireframe) to a layout tab and then back to model space, the visual style automatically switches itself to "Wireframe" or "3D Parallel Project", instead staying 2D Wireframe. It is highly annoying as I have to hit the 2D Wireframe button on the Visual Style Menu everytime a switch. This also occurs everytime a hit the Save button. It won't stay put in the visual style that it should.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have been using AutoCAD 2014 for a couple of weeks now and there seems to be a problem when switching from the model tab to the layouts.
This is the problem i have: I draft my plans in model space as usual, once i finish that, i want to go to the layout tab
where the titleblock is and modify its attributes. When switching, AutoCAD crashes, it allows me to save a recovery file but it closes the program completley.
I have submited the error report to AutoDesk but i have not seen any other comments about it.
Switching between paper/model modes in case of overlapping viewports,I got 4 viewports (screenshot is attached)
My issue here is that I couldn’t switch between the paper/model modes for the inside viewports! This can be done only for the “biggest” viewport (that bounds the other viewports)
Then how can I switch between the paper/model modes for viewport number 2, for example?Right clicking a particular viewport (attached) doesn’t give option to do so!
When I change to process 2012 on an image that has been worked in 2010 I'm seeing a big change in the image, much brighter, less contrast. Any way to closely preserve the old look while updating the process?
Also wondering what the new 2012 process brings to the image, aside from access to the new tools. Will I see a better (or just different) rendering of the image from older files?
I have a problem with my superelevation. everything is calculated accordingly but when i build my surface from corridor after i have calculated superelevation it does not show the results. Even my cross sections view still show a normal assembly cross section. It happaned on both C3d2011 and ad C3d3013.

I am currently using AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010 for surveying work and have been trying to figure out how to use part of an existing survey of land model. I have it in a layout (paper space) and used a viewport to get the section I am after but there are some changes in labeling and minor model modifications needed to make it a stand alone model and I do not want to modify the original model to make these changes. How can I take a section like I have in view port and make it into its own model with a different scale so the changes can be made and the original model is left in tact?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have drawn a site plan in model space at 1to1 scale. I try to draw hidden lines to show demolition. In paper space the scale is set to 1"=50" to fit on paper. But all the hidden lines plot solid. I had changed LTSCALE, PSLTSCALE, to 1. This problem keeps happening in most every thing I draw.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a project with over 20 models that were all upgraded from Revit 2012 to Revit 2014. Once upgraded, I was able to reload all the Revit links and see these links in views, as I should. Later the same day, when opening a new local file, I am unable to open a view after loading a link without Revit freezing. Not crashing, but freezing... the application says "Not Responding", the memory allocation is unchanged in the Window's processes, and the journal file is no longer being written to. I thought maybe this is just taking a long time to process, but 1) it didn't take this long to open the view with the loaded link when it was first successful, and 2) I've left it for hours without change.

Occasionally, clicking the Model or other layout tab results in no action, as if I'm not clicking on it.
All other controls (within and external to C3D) function normally so it's not a mouse hardware issue.
It will usually correct itself if I "restore down" the main application window, then maximize it again.
The -layout command is a workaround too.
